During this trip to Toronto, the timing aligned with it being Easter weekend and a special occasion buffet was being offered at the Ritz Carlton. I just couldn't resist and decided to splurge a bit. What does a buffet at the Ritz-Carlton look like? I intended to find out!
A lavish buffet took place at Toca, an Italian Restaurant within the Ritz. While early in the morning, there was already a line forming and the servers and hosts were all prepared and at the ready. Carving station with prime rib and lamb? check!
Traditional breakfast stations? check!
A luxurious seafood station with lobster, king crab, fresh oysters? double check!
And if all that wasn't enough, some dishes even come to you (and in the form of a giant parmesan wheel/bowl)! Freshly made mushroom risotto finished with a toss and coating with parmesan served table side.
And if that wasn't enough, a walk-in cheese cave converted to a dessert cave served up decadent desserts that were second to none! Not to understate this, all the desserts were uniquely made with intricate components architectured skillfully so layers and surprises of the delicious goodness are revealed as one indulges. Tim, when I saw the price I was a bit put off. But, that buffet was really filled. Back in my youth I could have done it. Desserts in a cheese room. I just want to be in the cheese room.

Aww, I just missed you on Easter weekend. We passed through Toronto to Quebec City. Had some great food there as well, the Chateau Frontenac has a nice brunch buffet. Not quite as big as you are used to, but everything was delicious. Particularly the variety of French cheeses and pastries. They make the best eggs benedicts!

I love when Tim ascribed health benefits to food that contain a vegetable. A slice of carrot cake is high in fat and calories, nothing nutritious about it other than the name! Just because it says :carrot doesn't mean it has got even a smidge of health eating! Of course you can justify putting it on your plate! LOL.

It looked to me that salmon was what is called gravlaks. Instead of cream cheese one would use with smoked salmon a mustard-based gravlaks dill sauce is what goes well with it. Easy to Google for recipes.
