Hello From Mark In KY. Seeing all of that straw and chaff reminds me of the straw and horse manure that my dad used to spread with a Ford 3000 gasoline tractor and a ground driven New Holland manure spreader with side boards that my dad added for extra capacity. Dad spread the manure and straw on the ground where our tobacco was to be grown for the upcoming crop. The straw and manure really seemed to help fertilize the ground quite nicely in which the tobacco crops always weighed out nicely back in the early to late 1970s. The John Deere tractors in your video had pretty much the same identical cab as the John Deere tractors that we had with the highway department here in Kentucky. The tractors had the boom mowers mounted with the 21 foot booms along with the mower decks that required constant maintenance due to amount of punishment that they were put through. Being that you mentioned purchasing a broom for your tractor, I was reminded of something that we used to do at the equipment repair facility where I retired from. We had the road broom attachment for our Bobcats in which when we had large training events at our facility, We would empty all of the equipment that we were working on within the facility and use lots of Simple Green along with the broom on the Bobcat to scrub the concrete floor which worked really well. Unfortunately, we had to manually operate the squeegees after the concrete was scrubbed with the Bobcat with the broom attachment had done its magic.

I usually end up bottoming out the hay shed with a muck grab but as you said, a lot falls out🤦‍♂, and yeah, I’ve the same problem with the dust and hay 😖🥴🤧

you should bag that up for mulch hay for seeding lawns. Or even to a composting site for making great compost. Probably not worth your time though. Just thinking of all the things I could use it for.. LOL..

When you're I baleing in the field doesn't that chaff help reseed the ground? We used to throw it in the dairy barn gutter, it'd end up back on the lot via the manure spreader.
@DLHFarms

Not the chaff that reseeds, it’s the seeds. I’m sure there are probably seeds in the chaff.

Years ago I had a client who's tub grinder burnt to the ground because the guy operating it never cleaned all the bark and debris out from down between the frame rails and all the other crevices. Nothing like some hydraulic fluid soaked mulch to fuel a marshmallow roast. After that they pressure washed all their other units religiously.

4066 has turnable or fixed front fenders. Kinda your preference but neither are approved for the side exhaust, if yours has that. JD will sell you a new exhaust that's compatible. I went with the fixed and didn't change my exhaust but I did make a mod to the fenders so they won't melt.

I’m curious about all the re-baling? Did your customer run out buyers for round bales or there a larger margin for the square bales. I’ve sold my accumulator and grapple for my square baler. Got the square baler up for sell but no serious lookers yet. I’m just to old for the square bale work and absolutely no help can be found for square baling.

We have all ran out of squares and can’t find any but this guy I’m baling for has found and bough lots of rounds so we are converting them.

When your sold out that’s a good think in a way. However I don’t like being out when there still a demand. That just looks like a lot of work. I’ve went out and bought round bales from other producers to stay in supply. I totally missed one cutting last year to drought and massive weed problems. I don’t think there was enough 2-4d on the plant to get the weeds under control.
