The album that this song is part of 'I LOVE' has many inspirations from Marlyn Monroe. Soyeon actually had a powerpoint presentation that she showed in a company meeting about the concept. The message she wanted the album to give is 'I rather be hated for being who I am rather than loved for who I’m not'. IIRC the company was more against this concept.

This song is so deep I love it so much. The message is so important and it's so rare in kpop to see such open statements which makes it even more special. Another fact about this song is that the title 'Nxde' also serves as a way to prevent people from looking up children's indecent images or videos. When writing (G)-Idle in korean the word Idle is written 아이들, which means children, so when people type '아이들 (children) nxde' they find their song and content. And it has been proven that it actually worked. Soyeon really is a genius and not only musically.

It's also for when they search up "female idol" (which (G)-Idle's korean group name translates to), and they add nude, which of course means they're searching for indecent content about female idols. If you look closely at the book the cartoon girl (some think it’s a cartoon of Soojin) is holding while Soyeon is rapping about philosophy, it’s Leaves of Grass which was a poetry collection by Walt Whitman and was very controversial at the time because of it being sexually explicit. Also I don’t remember if it was Soyeon but a female kpop idol got massive hate for reading a feminist novel while a male idol got lots of love for reading a feminist novel.

Yes, (G)-IDLE's song Nxde is based and inspired by Marilyn Monroe. There are a lot of things I've picked up from their style that looks identical to Marilyn's. Like in the beginning, the girl with the pink velvet dress is Minnie and that looks very much like Marilyn's pink dress in "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. And same with what you mentioned of the white dress that rode up in the wind and the blond hair styled that way is also inspired. The whole style and concept of this video is of course the meaning that Soyeon wanted to portray while using Marilyn Monroe's experience as well. I also heard this concept was also done for Soojin (the member that was unfortunately kicked out, but was proven innocent) because she loved Marilyn Monroe and it's believed that the little animated woman in blond with the mole/mark under her eye is believed to be Soojin because she had a mark under her eye in that same spot. But yeah very cool concept overall and the message is amazing!

Books of grass was a book that got the author ridiculed and ostracized for being too sexual, much in the same way korean society responds to G-Idle or as they're referencing, Marilyn Monroe In the scene with the livestream comments while Soyeon is taking off her shirt, the comments are criticizing her for being too sexual. Marilyns life was extravagant but so tragic. When most people talk about her it’s for her acting and because she was a so called “sex symbol”. She was so sexualized and she was constantly underpaid, she wasn’t even respected after she died as (CONTENT WARNING) paparazzi stormed her house before the police could move her (nxde) body taking photos with it... I absolutely love this tribute to her and it speaks volumes when they did it better than a supposed “biography movie” which continued to use her for fantasy, making up parts of her life to fit their story.
