Oh, wonderful! Another excellent print. Terrytoons' spooky episodes have a good atmosphere. But the real highlight has to be the Al Falfa Show intros/outros; that Terrytoons 50's meets 30's style is really cool.

Love that intro! Jim Tyer channeling Frank Moser! Terry-Toons 1929 meets Terrytoons 1955! What a blast! Thanks, Steve!

Jim actually does the transitioning scene. Not sure who does the intro.

For those curious, 2:12 is a Jim Tyer scene, he briefly worked at Terrytoons in 1935, but the only other cartoon he did work on was "The First Snow"

I thought Tyer joined Terrytoons in 1946. He left Van Beuren in 1935 to briefly work at Disney. He then found work at Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising's studio, working as an animator on the Happy Harmonies series for MGM. During the late 1930s, he did some work on industrial films produced by Jim Handy. In the early 1940s, he went to Fleischer Studios when it was transitioning into Famous Studios. He directed and animated Popeye shorts at Famous until 1946.

@@seanbradley1536 This was only a VERY BRIEF time at Terry, he left for the west coast not long after. Don’t be confused. I’m also pretty sure he joined Terrytoons for his famous stay in spring 1947

@@SCMacPeter Thanks for the clarification! It was the spring of 1947 that he joined Terrytoons for his famous stay. I initially confused when I first saw the comment since I never heard of him working at Terrytoons until the late 1940s. Additionally, the animation at 2:12 didn't resemble Tyer's work at first. What are some traits I should look for when identifying Tyer's work in this cartoon and "The First Snow?"
@SCMacPeter3 жыл бұрын
The scene I noted is his only scene in this one. The First Snow should be clear if you know his Van Beuren work well, the only scene I can recall off my head is the one with the dog looking out the window with his tongue

Huh, interesting to know Tyer had experience with Terry prior to 1947

0:00 is the closing to “Farmer Alfalfa & His Terrytoons Pals”. 0:33 and 5:56 are the bumpers. 0:44 is the title card with the calliope version of the “Barker Bill” theme, because it was first seen on the “Barker Bill Cartoon Show” back in 1954.

I think Rasinski does some scenes here. As his Al here looks like Bill Tytla. Ain’t surprised with Rasinski being formerly Tytla’s assistant. Tyer does the radio scene. And I “think” that Foster And Shields done some scenes
@seanbradley15363 жыл бұрын
Connie Rasinski animates the scene of Farmer Alfalfa undressing and putting on his nightgown as well as going to bed. He also handles the scene of Farmer Al and his dog walking down the stairs and running back up after they were startled by the noise downstairs. John Foster animates the sequence of Al dancing with the invisible man as well as the scene before that of Al's bed flying through the air. Jerry Shields animates three scenes, including the one of Al winding the grandfather clock, the clock announcing it's the "witching hour", and the scene of the clock fiddling and the ghosts running up the stairs.

Oil Can Harry makes the cameo appearance in this as the announcer of the Sleeping Powder Incorporated Company. Terry or someone else on staff does his voice

Pretty sure it’s Philip A. Scheib (Keith Scott stated that he voiced characters in the 1930s), the same man also voiced one of Terry Bears.

I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place but there is an old French cartoon that I can't figure out which animation studio produced it. Animation specialists are better at finding the origin of the film than I am. I posted it here recently and here is the link (sorry for the bad quality) : m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6DYapyfobuGrNk I'll add that even though the cartoon contains phylacteries, I'm convinced it's a sound cartoon, the frame rate being too high for silent. And I don't know if the cuts in the film are voluntary or if they are due to the bad conversation of the tape.
