This game was held in Rotorua, in the northern central area of the North Island of Aotearoa New Zealand. The Maori team therefore had a hometown advantage. FYI, Rotorua is in the center of the geothermal region, which featured in Stan Walker’s official “I am” video.

When my kids have down time in class their go to is watching Kapa Haka vids. The passion they have gives me chills, it's beautiful. I'm confident that whatever the future brings them they will face it and do what is right. They're Kiwi kids.

I don't know what happens in Austrailia, but in New Zealand what I love is that it seems that everyone joins in. I have seen Rugby teams, school chldren, people at funerals, Moari, white, all hertiages come together to do this, it's so great it hasn't been lost, in fact for many people in the world NewZealand is represented by the Haka.

Yep! "Haumi e, hui e, taiki e!" is a way to end a karakia (prayer/blessing) saying that everyone there is bound together. Sort of like "So say we all" or "Amen!" 🥝❤

If you watch the one from this years there is a Torres Strait Islander component in the war cry this time. Torres Strait Islander are the other indigenous peoples of Australia.

We in the Pacific all have our own cultures and customs. As there are so many islands it’s actually a huge region for Warriors and of Course our white Brothers who come from tough pioneering stock. Eat lots of Taro natural steroids. Or Seafood and lots of meat lol 😂

This little monologue here 9:05 had me laughing right out loud. It’s so true! Watching the Haka makes you feel like you could run through a wall, no problem. 😂 “I’d get wrecked…it wouldn’t even be kinda fun…I’d spend the rest of my days in just the most deplorable state a human could be in because I decided to go and play rugby…”😂 It’s a good thing you know how to talk yourself down off the ledge, man! Such a useful skill to have. Keep that skill. Hone that skill. Fine tune it. You’re gonna need it again when you go to New Zealand. By the way, side note…the background you have here is amazing. Chur brother love your appreciation for Maori and aboriginal culture im Maori/Australian born and raised in Australia Nov 93 my Dads Maori and mums Australian and lived here till i was 15 then moved back to New Zealand in 09 for 9yrs learned alot more about my Maori side was pretty Awesome leaning how to free dive for Sea Food geting to learn the Different types of Hakas foz i only knew the Kamate haka since my Experience and lil Difficulty being Rised in Australia since i was born 30yrs old Now 😂

The Haka is done for all events and UNITY. Rugby, weddings, graduations, funerals etc. It is a Culture and Spiritual motivation!
