I had never heard of Fred Again so didn't realise HOW different his songs are to this cover, omg Ren has immense talent to take them and make them his own like this, so stripped down and different and beautiful guitar work and singing. Not only that but so many songs merged into one, I literally thought it was one song, it flows so well. Seriously talented.

Check out Fred again's Tiny desk performance.It's nothing like the recorded tracks. It's really good. It's easy to see why Ren would do his mashup of this artist. Very emotional & beautiful. Love to see Ren do a Tiny Desk appearance. He would kill it. And it would expose him to a wider audience that may not have heard him.

Yeah love that guitar slapping, I really like how Ren stops playing guitar to give the song space and build tension, he's so on it with his timing and you can just see here's a person who feels and masters music. I absolutely love the spanish guitar shit that Ren does, it gives a timeless vibe. He's got the guitar down to a tee, he's such a good musician. Great! Also the words, I reckon so many people can relate to it! He's got so much soul.

Being familiar with Fred Again's high vibe EDM tracks, I was Not expecting an emotional accoustic cover but, my bad, as one should always expect the unexpected with Ren! Knox when you made a point about Ren controlling the music and pulling us in just to push back out that really resonated with me. I remember an interview I watched years ago, I forget the musician but he was saying that the best music, the truly great live performances are when the listener agrees to give up control, to let the musician take control, and you become a passenger in your own body, but it isn't a negative experience because the musician is taking you everywhere you want to be, to places that are familiar to you, to places like home, places back in time, places forward in time, back too another life, you and the musician share a lot in common, youve walked many of the same paths, faced the same demons, slayed the same dragons, ran the same race, cried , bled, prayed at the same alter, that's what you brought you to their music in the first place. Man music is so special. Music is truly underappreciated.

If you read his post about what Fred again lyrics did to him while he was at his concert ( he broke down in tears in the middle of the concert during those words) you would know it is an emotion that he can not control well. He rained it in to keep performing, it was raw emotions, nothing intentional. He said the way those words were phrased broke him.
