Nice to see the old sleepers being reused - no hanging about, and I like the way some of the track features have been kept. It's a good-looking edge retainer on that driveway - well done them! There's a good wood recycling CIC up in Newcastle, maybe 25 mins from me - the difference in quality between older slow-grown timber and the new equivalent is easy to see - the last time I got some 7x3, they looked like old factory joists from about a century back, bit of shaping on both sides of one narrow edge, nice and weighty! There's obviously not huge quantities in all sizes with reclaim yards, but knowing where these places are at, plus what they've got in stock, makes a lot of sense for smaller jobs.

Morning from Ohio! Simple product idea if you're up for it - I'd love a "Monday Morning, I'm in the Yard" sticker that I could put on my laptop as a reminder to get the mindset right each morning/week. If shipping stickers individually is too much, maybe it could be something that's just included with orders of other products?

Hi Daniel - Live down in Wiltshire but fan of the site and all things construction, railways, and people building successful businesses! On a trip up to London last Saturday saw one of your Ashville trucks for the first time on the M4 near the M25 junction and said 'I know where that's come from!' Needless to to say the rest of my family looked at me blankly! Enjoying seeing your private train track going down. Building one myself in my back garden in 5 inch gauge (Slightly smaller than yours) with equally blank expressions of interest from my family! Keep going with all you are doing 🚂🏗

I think you've reached the point where you need a multi skilled maintenance technician. I'd be interested in the job myself but I'm past my sell by date and I've retired to Thailand, but if you'll cover my commute costs I'd reconsider! I worked in the water industry as an electrician where I was expected to do any work necessary to get the plant running, barring catastrophic failure! With the right man in the yard you and Terry needn't chase your own tails looking at batteries and fuel pump motors, and a good man would know where best to get a replacement or rewind. Then there's all the maintenance on the equipment in the new yard and workshop, and if you hire soon your techie could be involved in the installation and know the place inside out!

One thing that has me thinking. In some countries in the Eu metal ends on the last hose on the concrete pipes are illegal due to the hazards of blocking and the pipe moving violently. The metal end can cause serious injury to the crew working at the end of the hose. I m no safety first guy but have a think. Use one of the old worn out hoses at the end of the line. Saves weight.also 3inch coupling weight is about 2 kilos

Save yourself some money by having a Thermit welding contractor come in and weld your track joints up. You’ll get ballest memory on the joints and and you will have to keep getting people in to pack the joints where as if you weld it all you won’t get the dipped joints. Try rail safety solutions (rss) or gpx down your way.
