What A Team!! Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel & Korrosol!! Brake Dust Doesn't Stand A Chance!!

In this video, I share my experience with Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel and Korrosol. Auto-Wheel is a non-acid, non-alkaline alloy wheel cleaner, and in most cases, no agitation is required. Usually steel and alloy wheels are either lacquered or painted. These coatings protect the metallic surface from corrosion and provide attractive finishes to automotive wheels. As vehicles brake, the dust generated from pads, discs, and drums is at elevated temperatures. Amongst this hot cloud are thousands of hot metallic particles. These bombard the wheels finish and effectively embed themselves there. Once lodged these particles are extremely difficult to remove. Acid based alloy wheel cleaners attack these metal particles effectively, reducing their size and allowing the particles and clinging dirt to escape. Caustic alloy cleaners are less effective than acid ones on brake dust, but can attack organic coatings such as lacquers and paints on short exposure. They attack any organic matter accumulated around the embedded particles and produce a seemingly clean surface, however, with continued use they will dull and diminish the coating, leaving a wheel surface that needs refinishing. Auto-Wheel’s formulation reacts with the oxidizing surface of the metallic particles, rendering it water soluble. The rapid removal of this microscopically rusted surface reduces the embedded particle size and releases the particles from the surface. Unlike acid based alloy wheel cleaners, this method is harmless to the wheel’s finish. The reaction can be observed by a rapid color change from clear to deep red. After a simple hose, rinse down or pressure wash, it leaves the wheel spotless. In severe cases, a wheel brush or mitt can be used to assist the process. pH adjusted reactive wheel cleaner for alloy, aluminium and steel wheels.

Surfex HD seems to do better than most wheel or tire cleaners at 15:1 and even 20:1, I use it for wheels and tires, engines, interiors, some fabrics and even as a floor cleaner in the house and garage at 40:1. Cleans vary well, virtually no smell and rinses and wipes off easily.

Been using Bilt-Hamber products for a couple years now and there NO turning back! It started with their AutoWash, VERY, VERY concentrated, literally an ounce for 3.5 gallons is too much even! Next was their dynamic duo of Auto-foam and Touchless. These are both pre-washes and no matter ANYONE says...THE BEST ON THE MARKET and its not even close❗️ Last winter I used 5 ounces of Auto-foam and 1 gallon of distilled water in my IK Foam Pro 12 as a pre-wash at the quarter carwash and it literally MELTED the salt and muck from my car. After a rinse there was just a faint shadow of dirt but you had to look for it❗️ I used Karrosol as a chemical decon on my paint and it was amazing and will use it come spring as a post-winter detail but using Auto-foam and Touchless it isn't going to have to work too hard❗️ The only distributor of Bilt-Hamber is somewhere in your backyard Brian, I'm not mentioning them by name out of respect ofcosrse but I'm sure the viewers can find it and once you do you'll either purge your other products or give them away❗️❗️

Totally agree. They have a very rich history and experience, they are not one-hit wonders that quickly launch a product. All their products work very effectively and at a fair price. Over a period of twenty years I have already tested many products, including out of curiosity, I also have products on the shelves that I will never use again. Bilt Hamber gives a person the desire to start the task. Enjoy!

Korrosol has been my favorite iron remover for years now. It is pretty thick, works fast and clings to the paint. Also a handy pre-treat to a rusty paint chip repair

I like there APC surfex hd I use it for wheels and tires most of the time at 20:1 and it instantly turns brown and cleans fast and rinses easily, I use it for interiors aswell at the same dilution and it really cleans those dirt covered plastics in one pass where as most of cleaners take 2 rounds on the same areas.

For the interiors you can drop it down to about 2% (or 50:1) and it still cleans as well, it's the best APC in existence right now I think.

Don’t use it at that dilution for interiors mate. It leaves a slick film on plastics at such a high concentration. Can be dangerous if you’re cleaning pedals. Use at 2/3% max. Avoid using on leather. 5-10% max on wheels. 5% really as you won’t notice any difference and it’s a waste of product going higher. 5/10% are archways and tyres. Same for engine bay as well. Can also we used at the same concentration as a citrus prewash. Either do lower panels or the whole car.

What u recommend to remove staining my front calipers. I ruined them by using Meguairs Hot Riki’s wheel & tire cleaner. This was totally my fault because I didn’t let the brakes cool down once I got home. So the glossiness has become a Matt dull appearance. This on my 2007 TL Type S. Any suggestions are most appreciated 🤜🏽

Can’t you just spray them both on, agitate once and rinse? Then you can save time by not cleaning each wheel twice? ( so is it not an iron remover? I love BH. I have both these. However I just use acid wheel clearer or APC as I have cheap old cars heavily dirty alloys. . Could someone explain please why to use fall out. Thanks Dan. UK. I use Surfex APC and Touchless snow foam. The Auto wheel or Koressol are just parked up.

Personally I've used these products on wheels and they work well but I did test the iron removing aspect by cleaning with just an APC and recleaning with iron remover and autowheel and saw no reaction so it seems a waste to use iron removers most of the time plus they are expensive and well, stink. The only bilt hamber I've had an issue with was the clay bars seemed dry and kinda break up like old play doh and really grabbed the surface even with a vary good clay lube with the regular and heavy duty bars.

Tried the clay bar with just water? BH states it can be used this way, no need for dedicated clay lubes. I've used their clay bars for years with no issues.

Would say just but Korrosol. No need for Auto wheel. The reason why is that Surfex HD is perfectly fine to use on maintained alloys or even dirty ones. You only need Korrosol every month or two to clear out the fallout. If you’re disciplined, Surfex HD is more than enough.

Most, if not all, wheels only need soap and water to effectively clean. Granted, unkept wheels will require more aggressive products and/or techniques but generally speaking soap and water is more than enough. Don’t believe me? Try it next time. This is especially true if your wheels have been coated, waxed or sealed. Bilt Hamber make excellent products, no argument there. So do many other manufacturers. But are they really needed? I will always argue against that. Why would you use a sledgehammer to hang picture frames? Why would you use a broadsword to spread butter on your bread? I mean, right? It doesn’t really make any sense to me. When cleaning ANY part of a vehicle, all you really need is lubrication, agitation and rinse. I mean, unless it’s a stain of some sort … then you bring out the big guns. I know, I’m full of it and have no idea what I’m talking about … I get it. Do me a favor, though … just try it. If I’m wrong you can come back here and call me an idiot. Need more proof? More incentive? Aight then … What is the cost of wheel cleaner, tire cleaner, decon chemicals, APC’s, blah blah blah???? Do they effectively clean? Yes. What’s your profit margin afterwards? What is the cost of 1 ounce of soap or rinseless wash to a gallon of water? Is it effectively cleaning? Yes. What’s your profit margin? I mean, if you’re spending $20-$60 just to deliver a basic detail on a vehicle … why? You can do nearly the same with just soap and water for a fraction of that. I rest my case. Disclaimer: I am NOT advocating the use of just soap and water and nothing else. That’s ridiculous. Sometimes chemicals are needed, sometimes required. I am saying that most times, soap and water is all you need. This is based off 30+ years of detailing experience. 😊😊😊

@@orthodox1717 That's not right! Korrosol is, as you say, thinner. But they are both not the same. Auto Wheel can be left on longer and does not dry as quickly as Corrosol. Then when you work with them when touching, Auto Wheel foams more. Korrosol reacts lightning fast and changes color Auto Wheel takes a little longer. Korrosol is probably the Iron Remover I've tested that reacts the fastest of all, regardless of brand. I have changed a lot between Korrosol and Auto Wheel, if I have to choose one, it will be Auto Wheel. I use Auto Wheel on all the cars even on the paint it doesn't hurt. I like that it can stay on longer even if the paint is a bit warm. The rims spray on at least 2 work with one while the agent works on others I usually do. I don't combine them both like Brian does both contain Iron Remover. Auto Wheel also contains something else that cleans a little better on several types of dirt. If they were the same, Auto Wheel would probably have reacted as quickly as Korrosol and changed color to purple. You hardly have time to spray Corrosol before it changes to purple. Both are really good Iron Removers among the best available in my opinion, no one will be disappointed by the effect on any of them.
