@@matthill2957 There is no such thing as a "lifetime" warranty. Best you will see is a 100k mile manufactures warranty. All extended warranties are a scam. They wont cover catastrophic claims. They will force you to only go to mechanic shops, "in network". You have to go through a bunch of hoops BEFORE you have your vehicle worked on, and 9 times out of 10, they wont cover it. Extended warranties are almost always 3ed part, not manufacturer, and they will bend over backwards to ensure they wont have to cover whatever your vehicle needs. Stay away from extended warranties.

Hey Stan. I spent years in the auto industry. When a dealer advertises a low ball truck, they call it a 'loss leader'. It is usually a bare-bones version in an undesirable color and options package. They use it to generate contact and upsell the customer to a more expensive one that has the features that most customers are looking for. When the dealer refuses to sell that particular truck for the advertised price, that is false- advertising. If they try to switch you to a differed truck that they will sell you for that price, that's bait and switch.

Back in the day. When the caravan became third GEN. My boss purchased three of them. They were all the ones that were advertised at that low discount rate price. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. We’re on the bottom of the ad it says we only have one. He bought it. Then he waited for the next weeks ad. Then he bought that caravan. Then he waited I think two months before another ad showed up one at this price. And he bought that one. It was comical because he got him at the price that was in the paper. All stripped. Basic dodge caravans. Are used for shuttling consumers around. We would dump them at 200,000 miles. But it’s a good lesson to learn. One of which is patience
@lawrenceshdow2 жыл бұрын
It wasnt false advertising though because the dealership was advertising the price as the MSRP.
@upminer61622 жыл бұрын
You're right. And in order to do that legally they have to actually have that vehicle to sell. They can try and upsell all they want, and the customer can have expectations that it has options it doesnt but if they advertise that vehicle at that price it should be available. Sounds like this guy is a bit mistaken. The dealer website lists MSRP. That isn't offering it for sale at MSRP. It's just a fact about the vehicle. No different than stating the color or what engine it has. And MSRP is just like it stands for suggested. Good dealers wanting markup will just list contact us to avoid what this guy went through. And who calls a customer back and continues on with their "position" when the person obviously thought they could buy at MSRP and you told them no. That's just the epitome of what's wrong with the car business in situations like we've had the last couple of years

I know of one instance, back in the early eighties, of a fleet order for 17 4WD vehicles going through a local dealer and 18 free-wheel hubs for them. The franchise/dealership owner (most tight-fisted, penny wise- pound foolish* idiot you'll ever meet) questioned this and told the person who placed the order that he'd have to pay retail, not 'trade' price, for the last set of hubs because it was for his personal vehicle... Order immediately cancelled, ALL parts and work following that from that point went through a dealership an a nearby town - besides the initial order, this was well into 6 figures, a year, even 30+ years ago, as they worked on other vehicles as well. Possibly the biggest "you work commision?" was back in the seventies when a scruffy guy was in a nearby agricultural dealer (IH?) asking about tractors and other machinery. Head salesman basically snubbed him and a junior salesman took over - turned out he was buying for one of the biggest farms in the area, he ended up buying multiple machines and I understand it was over a million bucks, all up, which was a LOT of money back then! Got vague recollection that he may have bought a house on the commision (certainly should have covered a decent deposit), but may be mistaken? *if you don't know the expression, it means someone so focussed on small amounts of money they miss the importance of larger amounts and make stupid decisions that means a net loss.

Folks at other dealers were playing games with prices, or just refusing to sell inventory listed units, so I just kept moving outward on the map to the next dealer. Finally found one near Detroit who had the unit sitting on the lot, was actually selling it, and would take that price, so I told them I'd drive up and sign the paperwork Monday. Hauled up there with my trailer, they had us take it for a test drive before we loaded it up. Wonderful service. Although my wife was upset after driving it that I loaded it on the trailer. So true. Even after 08 and up were way smoother. The 2011 -13gasser with the 6.2 gas has a smart trans you can try all you want to burnout it will not spin the wheels it will chirp them but not let you light them up. This helps when towing cause you can confidently get on the gas and not worry that its gonna leave skids all down the road.

Wasn’t planning on buying a new truck this year, was very happy with my 2018 Ford. But it was totaled by a girl that blew a stop sign. When I went shopping, the dealerships for the most part were arrogant and rude. Then I went to a dealer I used to always think was a little pricier, and they kept everything at msrp, still gave incentives, and treated me right. They were fantastic.

Exactly the way I wanted rubber flooring, 4x4 cloth seats power windows and locks (yes they have some with hand crank windows still) I was able to get it at sticker , I came with a check ready to go and the sales guy was acting as if it wasn’t gonna happen. Wow. I can't believe you enjoy that 6.4 assuming it's the diesel and not the V-10? Those 6.4 trucks have had so many issues with emissions and turbos and so many other things that most people can't get rid of them. I see so many of them for sale with blown motors or an injector or two out. I was a Ford tech at a few dealerships before these came out so I never worked on them but I've done the research and read so much about them as well as watched so many videos to know that I wouldn't want to own one. I would feel like I was driving a ticking time bomb. If it's been working out for you, that's great. But I would suggest to sell it before you have something happen to it because if something does happen, it's gonna be hard to sell. Especially if the potential buyer knows anything about the 6.4

I had a similar experience with a local Toyota dealership. I researched and chose a 4Runner with a particular package that I wanted. Went to this dealer because they had one incoming. They wanted to add a $5,000 non negotiable dealer add on or as they worded it “tax that NJ makes them add”. They stated it added certain features to the car. Called them out on their BS and got no where. I for schlitz and giggles went on to the website for the dealer I use to work for and they had the same 4Runner in stock with upgraded wheels. Got it at a great deal with an extended warranty all out the door for less than the other dealers offer.
