[Link in description] This Schilke B6L-B is a super fun horn! Classic, versatile trumpet with lots of spin to the sound.
This is a relatively new horn and the previous owner hadn't played it too much so it's in wonderful condition! It does have a precision valve alignment, and it plays great.
The B6LB features a medium bore with a bigger Beryllium bell. The B6 was apparently a big inspiration for Yamaha's development of the 6310Z trumpet with Bobby Shew and Bob McCoy. It has a really crisp, clean quality to the sound. Even with the medium bore it has a full sound and great versatility. The sound spectrum is quite diverse, making this a great horn for improvisation. It's incredibly responsive to whatever you put into it.
To me, this has the classic characteristics of a Schilke trumpet: easy, clean response, and beautiful spin to the sound, with great efficiency. The valve alignment (done at Osmun) takes all of that up another notch as well.

Pardon the color changes during the video... I am experimenting with the sounds in different rooms of our expanded shop and don't have my lighting setup just yet!

Awesome horn. If I didn't already have the S42, also a .450", I'd be seriously considering this very horn. I have no idea why Schilke is not considered king of the hill instead of the Bach line. No slam on Bach which are fine horns, but the overall Schilke line is as good or better IMHO. I would wager in a blind test of side by side Schilkes and Bachs, the Schilkes would actually be preferred by trumpet players and their bandmates in bands and groups of all genres.

Bill, Jon Faddis, Lew Soloff, Glenn Stuart, Johnny Madrid...all played a B6L-B at different periods...one day in Jan. 1973, Lew Soloff, Randy Brecker and Alan Rubin were all at the old Schilke Shop on Wabash to pick up their new B6L's...what a day that must've been

You say Bark! I say Rasp! Which gives you the best Bark! ( or as I say rasp). A Gold Brass Bell, Yellow Brass Bell or Beryllium Bell? I'm leaning towards Gold Brass bell. What do you say? Peter Busacca
