You have to communicate or else how would you know if there's a plan change , commercial break , injuries , timing , when certain guy will make an interference. The whole key to a wrestling match is communication it's part of your job . Plus you all acting like Vince ain't the wrestling god

Bro. When I was much younger watching old school wcw..at some point I started to enjoy watching the refs do their part, and I started to prefer some refs over others. I gained an appreciation for them pretty early in being a wrestling fan.

Particularly on TV for the specific reasons mentioned in this clip. The guys wrestling probably aren't going to have the timing down to TV precision, so the ref is the timekeeper (funnily enough cause timekeeper is also a person)

I’m sure someone in the timekeeper’s area had a hardwire mic and would give hand signals to the performers or ref who would relay back to them. Hence why the timekeeper area might exist.
