I love that label, it’s so cute! I use fabric pens on my quilts, I don’t know if they are archival or not, but they work without fading. Sometimes I’ll just Wright directly on one of the quilt blocks and other times I’ll make an embroidered label. Just depends on how I’m feeling that day. I found some quilt tops and a whole twin sized quilt finished except for the binding and quilting. That thing has to be over 20 years old. I found that and said to myself, “you dummy, why didn’t you finish it? “ Who knows what I was thinking about then. I like the cheery colors in your quilt.

Wow are you going to finish them? A future present to yourself. Thanks Sue 🥰

@@PracticalStitches , yes, I’m going to finish them all. Some of them my grandmother pieced together. I can’t imagine why I never finished them.

@@sbrickett maybe it was too nostalgic for you at the time 🤔 better late than never.

@@PracticalStitches you’re probably right, I’ll get to work on them, maybe they’ll be finished this year.

If you get the firm point rather than the brush point, it is easier to write on the fabric if it is ironed to freezer paper first. After writing, remove the paper (ans set aside for additional labels because it can be reused several times!), it is a good idea to heatset what has been written with a hot iron. I like to use a scrap of paler Batik for labels. I make them square, and two sides are sew by machine under the binding, and the outer two are hand stitched when I hand stitch the binding. Thank you for reminding everyone to label their work!

Perfect instructions for a quilt label. 🥰 Thank you for this. The fine point archival ink marker is on my list❤ yes it is very important for everyone to label their work.

I've only made one quilt and have never thought to put a label on it. I dont have an embroidery machine to make one. I know it's not required, but it makes it nicer.

I hardly ever use the embroidery attachment. I need to use it more often. I think the handwriting is a nice personal touch.❤️

I don’t always label my quilts, but when I do I usually attach a half-square triangle into a corner of the binding on the back and write directly on it with a permanent marker. This year though, I really want to start making embroidered labels with info such as my name, the date and the recipient’s name.

I look forward to seeing your embroidered label. I like this design and I think I will use it for my quilts. I used an embroidered flower and writing before and the label was really large. Let's hope I can write neatly that day! 🤣
