I think there is an idea for part 7: What to wear, what never to wear. There are probably 4 sets ideal loadout for speed, warmth, and protection, and a middle ground. There is also a lot of nuance in the difficulty but what good is a roomy pack if you're boots slow you down!

this is a decent idea, but for interloper 90% of the time its incredibly obvious what to wear considering bear hides are obvious, so is wolf skin pants, helmet, and etc,

Absolutely agree. Clothing doesn't seem like an obvious source of encumbrance, but it can really cut into your carry weight if you're wearing something heavy.

@@A_random_bee1246 Are experienced interloper players really the only target audience for tutorial videos like this? On lower difficulties you have a lot more layering options and the lower world temps free you up to prioritize other attributes like protection, mobility and weight. Its also easy to overvalue something like wind proofing and water proofing on your inner layer. Even on interloper there is tons of nuance if your speed running or in the early game before you can min-max on the best late game gear

Warm interloper: 2x Combat Pants, Wolfskin coat, Ski Jacket. Medium interloper: Bearskin to replace Wolfskin coat Cold interloper: 1x Deerskin pants with 1x Combat Pants Coldest interloper: 1x Wolfskin pants with 1x Combat Pants Probably not worth it: replace ski jacket with wolf/bear

One thing I feel you missed is XP gain from the Fire Hardened Arrows, its really useful to use them no matter what when ever able when hunting small prey. It really helps when working towards Level 5 Archery! Loved the Series, thank you for it and the useful info they contained. May your days be warm.

Regarding fires, it's also worth lighting a fire outside with a mag lens and bring the fire inside if you have a 6 slots stove inside or if during your cooking session the weather is about to turn (cook outside if possible to reduce cabin fever risk). Also you can chain fires by lighting a new torch with the previous also extinguish one after you drop it on the floor. Especially useful in the beginning when you don't have a lot of matches. It's worth noting matches are now renewable at a fair price at the trader even on interloper, but that usually comes later. For fire, it's worth always carrying at least 2 coals and a stick to light a warm fire easily if you get lost.

Something to add: broth. You get WAY more calories from making broth than just eating ptarmigan meat. Also it has no smell. When on the go, I always process ptarmigans into broth and use it to either drink alone OR maximize it by making stews using either rabbits or deer carcass meat. I usually only do this at the end of the day to minimize smell exposure and maximize calories before bed. Also, birch bark tea is life. I always have one or two on me for emergencies. Last, teas are used for warming buffs, not medicine. This is critical when traveling and dealing with the harsh temperatures. In this scenario, the thermos is an essential tool as it means warm drinks for way longer.

For part 7 I would love to see recomendations for clothing items / acccessories! Otherwise maybe some tips / tricks to follow when exploring a new region? Like how to map and take note of predator paths without getting mauled? Loving the series so far! :))

Brilliant videos! I never play Interloper or Misery but I never really engaged with snow shelters before and now I'm kinda kicking myself for not taking advantage of them when trying to survive Sundered Pass in Stalker.

nvm, I looked up the snow shelter mechanics, they would not have helped much, it's too fucking cold in Sundered Pass and I should have brought bearskins.

That is true until Fire Starting lvl 5, when you can just use a single stick (and take a torch right away, if needed)

If i remember right, fire hardened arrows are the only ammo that doesn't scare wildlife, such as rabbits or ptarmigans

I didn't really used the Snow Shelter strategy and while it sounds reasonable, building the shelter takes a full 45 minutes. Would that be considered a last resort kind of thing that makes it worthwhile carrying 0.5kg in cloth? Also, once you built the shelter you're left with no cloth for bandages, unless you dismantle it, in which case it's even more time spent. Instead, you can carry 2 pieces of coal, weighing just about the same (0.6kg), find a sheltered spot and make a fire to warm yourself and some teas up, after which you can keep going to the nearest shelter (cave, cabin, etc.)

I've never considered building a snow fort in interloper because I would lose a ton of HP while building it. I would also lose a ton of HP cutting up tree limbs with a hacksaw, because it takes 90 mins to cut.
