Thank you SO much. This is helpful. It answers many questions I have about spironolactone. Its also a vey pleasant presentation. But I still have one : In the trans community, they usually do not favor spiro citing side effects such as peeing, the diuretic effect, headaches, lack of efficiency of spiro as compared to bica or cypro. The whole community seems to really not favor it. I am on spiro (and also finasteride for hair) now at my doc's suggestion, but the peeing is... a problem. What would you say ? I am SOOO grateful for your video and tips ! Cheers !

Hello! I assume you mean spironolactone, in which case you do have some options. You could discuss with your health care provider about lowering the dose or splitting the dose into twice daily to see if that helps mitigates side effects while also achieving your affirmation goals. Another option could be to try a different androgen blocker like finasteride or dutasteride, which we just did a deep dive video on kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHeWn6iiiaiLnas. Hopefully this info helps you start a meaningful conversation with your healthcare provider that will help you reach your goals with as little side effects as possible. :)

Hello there! I have a question for you! :) . I'm not trans, but I'm a man with overactive sex hormones which has started to interrupt my personal life. Do you think T blockers can help me with my SEVERE urges? I'm hypersexual and i orgasm 6-10 times a day, every single day. Can't even grocery shop without getting randomly HORNY and i have to "release" myself in the bathroom. It makes me sick and i'm tired of it! I'm seriously thinking about taking T blockers to stop these INTENSE cravings that i can't control on my own, i have zero willpower in this. I don't mind the feminine traits, i dont subscribe to gender stereotypes and anyways, my wife says I'm too hairy anyway so this might be good for the both of us lol.

Thank you for the question. Compulsive sexual behavior usually requires treatment with both medication and therapy due to the strong mind-body connection of sexual function. Testosterone blockers are one of many options to treat this condition. You should talk with your primary care doctor about what options would be right for you. www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/compulsive-sexual-behavior/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20360453

Thank you for this video. I am on a waiting list in the UK for Trans MTF treatment so am likely to be waiting a long time before even being acknowledged such is the state of Trans healthcare in UK. I have privately sought out Finasteride as a way of protecting my hair from receding and to strengthen it whilst I grow it out to a greater length. I have become interested in the side effects of Finasteride as frankly they are not negative for MTF patients and are actually something I hope for within reason. I have been on Finasteride for approx. 4 months now and have upped the dose to 2mg per day in the hope that the side effects will be more apparent, however, I am a little concerned that I may be putting my liver under stress or causing other unseen effects that could be unwanted, including the chance of cancer (which is mentioned in the documentation that is included with the medication) but I understand is not common. Could you advise please on the dangers of taking more and more Finasteride, whether it can be dangerous and what to expect from upping the dose? I am unlikely to increase above 2mg as I fear that may be stressful for my liver. I have told my GP that I have decided to take twice the recommended dose than would be given for hair regrowth/protection and have been honest with her that I am doing so to try to provoke feminisation such as gynecomastia etc. (Which I am experiencing slowly and is very affirming).
