Before somebody shared the gospel with me, I had about as much interest in Jesus as a 5 year old boy does about coming inside to take a bath. Fortunately for me, this friend kept at me for weeks until I gave my life to Christ. 33 years later i still strive to learn, and share the gospel. I now live in Japan and this question of “What happens to people who have not heard” is always on my mind. I have an AMAZING Japanese father-in-law. I don’t speak his language and he doesn’t speak mine. He doesn’t seem to have an interest in God, but he walks out a good life that would be on par with the best Christians I know. His generosity and refusing to speak ill of people is above reproach. To me, this video has an explanation, however I hope to hear a much better explanation. I am doing my best to learn Japanese at 56 years old, I pray I have time to talk with him before it is too late. God bless and Shalom to all.
@sidwhiting6652 жыл бұрын
This comment will be considered ancient by online standards, but just in case you ever check back I'll offer a few thoughts. . First, there are a lot of "amazing" people in the world who give no outward signs of knowing Jesus. But we do know the Bible says that belief in Jesus Christ as one's savior and trusting him for salvation is the one and only way to eternal life. "Being amazing" will get no one to heaven, because without Jesus Christ covering our sins, even the most amazing people are still unholy sinners. . Now, you might think I'm attacking your FIL. Nope, not at all. He's probably everything you say he is. I'd probably enjoy meeting him. But he is also what the Bible says he is: lost, wretched, self-seeking (in ways you and I don't see outwardly), without hope, without life, and dead in his sins and trespasses. . In the end, it's now about how amazing any of us it, but rather how holy God is, how great his love is, and how he did everything we need for salvation. Trust him: that's it, and that's the only "it" as well. Salvation is not Jesus + being an amazing person. . It's a tough thing for us humans to swallow because we are not God and do not have his perspective. We see people who are kind or kinder than we are and think, "Surely this person wouldn't spend an eternity in Hell" because we're afraid that if the kinder person is in danger, then so are we. This is a clear lack of understanding of the Gospel, because we turn it into a game of moral comparison: me vs. someone else. Am I better than Joe? Is Joe better than me? If Joe is better than me, will I be saved? This totally missed the Gospel which says, "It is by GRACE you have been saved...not of works, lest no man should boast." It doesn't matter that Mother Teresa fed 10,000 more people than you or me. What matters is which of us trusted in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation? If we all did, then we are all saved. If any one of us does not, then as far as the Bible says, we are not saved regardless of how many "good deeds" we did. . The Bible tells us clearly what God's view of sin is and how it separates all mankind from him, and that without Jesus as our Savior we are lost. Good works and kind personality do not cover the multitude of sins, the worst of which is violating the greatest Commandment: "Love the Lord Your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength." All non-Christians violate this command every second of every day for their entire life. . So continue to witness to your FIL. I'm assuming he's still alive and therefore there is yet time for your witness to bring him to faith. Does he desire to know the Way, the Truth, and the Life? It sounds like everything you have said indicates he does not. But we do not give up hope. Keep praying, keep witnessing. That is all we are called to do.

I am also on this quest to know what happens to the heathen. I have a very hard time accepting the idea that a very good person like your father in law,. Will one day die,. And find himself in hell. If God is a merciful god,. He would t do that. I think now,. That there is a hell,. There are people that will never ever ever want anything to do with God. And I now believe God knows everyones heart and true intentions,. Yes,. No one will be saved without Jesus in their heart. But he knows who will receive him and who will reject him even if they don't hear about Jesus or are apparently apathetic to him in this life. This is just my opinion. I don't know if I'm right.

My bestfriend is also seems to be a good person, but the truth is, everyone is a sinner, he is a good person, but he's not perfect either, no one is perfect enough to earn heaven but only by God's grace. for me it is make sense if the preacher say that those people wouldn't believe in the truth anyway, because I have shared the gospel to my bestfriend multiple times, he rejected it multiple times, but I have prayed for him that may God open his heart. God is just, whatever is the actual answer or whatever happens, I believe God judge fairly, for He sees the heart, unlike us.

I had been raised to know some basic gospel stories such as the good samaritan etc. Otherwise the Christ message was unknown to me...He went to the Cross and that was about all I knew, but assumed everyone got saved. I was wrong. Its timing...being in the right place and at the right time for a questioning person to be confronted with the Gospel. Thats what happened to me. @Martin Luther "We get our morality from God" Uh...no, no we don't. "if there is no God morality is not objective it is subjective based on what each individual feels." Exactly. And then we as humans collectively decide what is and isn't good or bad, so it's situational objectivity based on subjective and relative morality. "If you can say bone cancer in children is objectively bad" I'm not...I am saying 1. If I were a god, I would not have created it in the first place, or 2. If I had the power to eradicate it or save even ONE child, that there is no way I could just sit by and watch. But it all makes perfect sense if _no god exists._ "then you are actually proving the existence of a God who is the standard of goodness." No I am not, and no it is not...the "god' of the Bible is a deplorable character, and its only redeeming factor is that there is no good reason to believe it even exists. ___

Every Christian for most of their lives lived for themselves not seeking God. But yet somehow they still 'found' Jesus. How did they find Jesus? They didn't. Jesus pursued them until they came to the knowledge of truth & then they got born again. This can take time. It took 32 years for me & it can take less time for some & more time for others but just remember that we are born with a sin nature & that sin nature does not want Jesus but when we are convicted by God & the light bulb goes on we realize how lost we are without God then we get born again. I don't agree with Frank that if someone isn't seeking God then they don't want Him & they will probably die in their sin. I believe they are following their sin nature & haven't had that conviction yet but when they do they will get born again. If you want your brother to be saved, God wants him to be saved even more & He will keep pursuing him until the day your brother dies. All you can do is keep displaying the love of Christ by living a similar life that Christ did. I heard someone say that the best gospel preached is the one lived. You should tell him about Jesus but more importantly, demonstrate the gospel by the life you life & through that, God can convict his heart which could cause him to repent & turn to Christ for salvation. Hope this helps.

God however like me a lot and gave me a second chance later on that only a few can get it. So thanks to Him I took the second chance and became a good Christian. Now I have to give twice as much and will be judged twice as hard. So for those who have never heard He is the only one to know how to judge them... I could continue but I believe it;s enough!

God will judge them by their conscience of right and wrong. Romans 2:14-15: Even Gentiles, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know his law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right.

They say we should enjoy this life, and not worry about the next. Boy are they wrong in their thinking. They should worry about the afterlife, and not worry so much about this one. We are literally gone in the blink of an eye. Humans have so few decades of life, but most aren't interested in eternity at all.😇😇😇😇

Vicky Biagini I absolutely agree... and this Bible verse explains that: John 3:19 says: “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.” They hope there is no moral God that will judge them once this temporarily life is over, so they can live the “free life”, and choose their sins over righteousness. No matter with how many logical arguments you come up with, atheists will always contradict the obvious because they want to believe in their own made up truth, instead of THE REAL TRUTH. Something else worth noting is the many stories coming out of the Middle East recently, where it is very difficult to get a missionary in there. So as a result, Jesus is reaching out to these people in dreams and visions, something that he has likely done for all people throughout all time that were unreachable by evangelist. Also, because he has placed an innate sense into the heart of every man that he is, and his law is written in our conscience, I have every reason to believe there is grace for those who were not reached by a Christian with the gospel message, that they would accept God as they perceive him, and abide in his ways to the best of their ability. The bottom line is that God is not willing that any should perish, and every opportunity will be made for anyone that is in any way open to receive him.

To suggest that God would create some people and then deny them the "privilege" of hearing the gospel (since he determined the time and place they would be born and exist) because they wouldn't have believed it anyway sounds both unscriptural and rather tasteless. An all loving God would not force anyone to love or follow Him. He knows what will happen, yet He didn't force anyone to make any decision. It is not logically possible for God to create a world where everyone is completely free, AND everyone chooses to love and believe im Him. So... There is no love without free will, and there is no free will without choice. There is no real choice if there is only one option: love and believe in God.

This is a massive problem for Calvanists, who believe that God uses His sovereignty to pick and choose who will and will not be saved before they were even born, but this isn't very loving, is it? "I love you, but I'm going to choose your path for you, and your path leads to eternal separation from Me." This is why I believe in Molonism, which simply put, means that God is indeed sovereign, and He knows exactly what will happen, but He sets aside some of His power to control, to allow us to be free creatures and choose our own path. This is the only view to me that is really consistent with His perfectly loving nature as described in the Gospel

What we call death is having no vitals but God could make a millisecond seem like a lifetime. What's to say God reveals His Love which is Jesus in that millisecond before you're actually dead dead. I believe God is pure just and merciful and it will be a total rejection of the full truth revealed to them. Not just some blind faith. Just one possibility out of millions. Maybe a split second before you die Jesus comes to you and offers Salvation and shows what He's done for you.

Because of His character. People always want to say "God is love" and yet they forget about all of His other aspects. He is also holy, mighty, righteous, merciful, and just. How do we know that He is any of these things? Anybody can say that they are merciful or mighty, but there is a huge difference between saying you are something and SHOWING that you are what you claim. God's salvation of some people shows that He can be merciful (For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." Romans 9:15), sparing them from eternal punishment. He has shown that He is mighty through the creation around us, parting the red sea, being able to raise the dead, etc. But the one characteristic that most people don't want to acknowledge is that He is JUST. How do you determine whether a judge is just? If he let everyone off, then you would say that he isn't doing his responsibility of condemning criminals. However, if he condemned even the innocent, you would call him unjust. The only way to know if a judge is just is whether or not he punishes those who need to be punished and acquits those who are innocent. In the same way, God reveals His glory and character by punishing the wicked and redeeming the innocent. Some people were made for the explicit purpose of exhibiting the justice of God. But we have to keep in mind that nobody forced them to do wrong. Their nature was always to do wrong. We were all born that way.

@TheEnd I'm not sure if your statement was an actual question, or just a statement for thought. Either way I'll add this it, who is to say He is not. It is very true of what Mr. Turrek (?) was implying, that it matters if a person is truly seeking after God. It is also supported by scripture, Hebrews 11:6. There are allot of things happening behind the scenes that are not reported upon and that we as a group, as a society, or as Christians are unaware of. Just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean that it isn't happening.
@danielwilkinson10245 жыл бұрын
@TheEnd In the case of American Indians, one thing that you might consider, and again it is just conjecture, is "pride". If you believe in the scriptures to be true, then according to them God resists the proud, James 4:6. Again, we do not know, as of yet, who has and has not earnestly, humbly, and with all sincerity sought after God. Even if that person is our best friend or spouse, only God knows truly what is in one's heart and thoughts.

I heard a story once(pretty sure it's true, and not just for illustration) of an Eskimo or Inuit man, who had one day realized that their local "religion" wasn't true, and thought that there was a god similar to what is described in bible. Shortly after this revelation, a missionary happened to come to his village, and he accepted Christianity with open arms. Those who seek shall find.

This subject is already touched upon by Paul, in Romans chapter 4, and in Galatians, if I recall correctly. But, I agree it's GREAT to have a modern day, well educated Christian explain this in more 'current' terms. There's nothing wrong with THAT! "So he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up" (Ephesians 4:11,12). I've gained from Frank MYSELF, over the years.

God is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. Whatever He does is done from the beginning of time to the end, is done everywhere and affects everyone. No man is without excuse because the Law has been written in our hearts (Hebrews 10:16), for BY INSTINCT we know what's good and evil, even with a man who has no belief. But what we really need to be concerned about is our own Judgement. God will have a judgement for those within and outside the Church: (1Corinthians 5:12-13 12What business of mine is it to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked man from among you.”)

I feel like you dodged the question on this one, Mr. Turek, as the question asked was not about those, who have yet to hear about the resurrection of Christ today, nor was it about the time, when that had yet to happen, but rather it was about the timeframe immediately after his resurrection. Seeing as the resurrection was a very localized event, when seen on a global scale, most of the people, who died in the immediate time after his resurrection, would have likely not heard of or believed in it. Thus the question remains: What happened to them? I would also like to point out, that I am a person on the search for the truth, though my mind has wrecked itself to the point of not knowing, what it knows along the way, and I stand on completely neutral grounds with Christianity, however, I have yet to find ANY evidence for God's existence. So if he is so loving and kind and wanting all to be saved from something he must have created himself (why did he make hell as the default destination for all human beings in the first place?), why is he not leaving more obvious signs of his existence than an ancient book, that could very well just be taken as just another work of fiction?
