I absolutely love and appreciate your videos! It would be amazing to see a video or series where you take a break from the hardcore topics and do something more casual, like scrolling through or playing random games on Steam while sharing your thoughts. It could also give real examples of all the topics we’ve been discussing.

Absolutely golden information that needs to be taken seriously. HUGE thank you for sharing your insights, this’ll be 100% useful for all developers who take game design seriously.

I think another way to explain your attention times action concept is to just do multiplication. So, if V is the attention (views) and C is the action (conversion rate), then roughly, S (sales) should be V times C. S = V*C If we want to 100x our sales, we can increase V by 100 or C by 100. Both are way harder than just increasing V by 10 and C by 10. So 10V*10C would give us 100S, so 100 times improvement, done easier than 100V*C or V*100C. Gamedev itself is something like this formula, except it has thousands of other variables which you can tune and which interact with each other in complex ways, but the concept is that you can gain massive leverage by tweaking select few variables if you know how they interact, which in this case we do.

Thanks a lot for your videos. You are propably the first indie guy who had a big hit and shares this with the rest of the community. Most of so called "experts" on YT don't know what they are talking about. Had no success before.

I do agree with everything you said. I also think there s an extra important factor, which only applies if your game is multiplayer. If it is, then it matters a lot how fun it actually is to play with friends. If a single person tries it out, will he want to invite more people to play with him/her?

You miss one big multiplier... Mods! Let people mod the game like Minecraft, Among Us, Skyrim, TF2, Garry's Mod, etc. Then they will be able to create the content that they want, using your game as a platform. You can even add it to CUFFBUST using the steam workshop
@ScientiaLudosАй бұрын
Yes, level editors and mod support are a perfect example of a multiplier. I'm adding a level editor to CUFFBUST

He's more successful than 99% of indies ever will be so I'd say it's valid to at least the majority of aspiring indies. It's worth exercising patience to try to understand veterans who have been places we haven't. A lot of the best knowledge is handed down person to person through often casual conversations.
