You are so right. I give myself to the subject of my poems, and never tell myself that I know this. It is why I don't like to write anything that I am too familiar with or have thoughts about in the last few weeks. I knew not what I was going to say or how when I wrote my 5 poems that were recently selected for print publication, I only knew the question I was going to answer in the poem and most, only as I wrote the poem. I do think we need not to make new poets think poems come from magic. They come from discovery as you are writing the poem.

Yes. Poetry is a unique story coming for that individual poet respectively. And when read, it spreads and touches the readers like a fragrance and reaches far and wide.

As a fellow poet I wholeheartedly agree with the giving over of self. One writes what the theme or message or inspiration or spark directs.

Thanks for making this video, as a Young poet I appreciate this even though I don't up hold that my poetry is amazing lol I write to Write, because the powerful play goes on and I may contribute a verse, and you may contribute a verse. Most Young poets I find just write poetry so they are viewed by others as Sensitive or Smart. I really feel sorry that they think that way.

All My Poems Are Shit!!! I have not got the freedom of expression and plasticity with words to write poetry! - Mike. My Favourite Poets are - Thomas Shadwell, Colley Cibber, Nicholas Rowe, Thomas Warton ( The Younger ), William McGonagall and Alfred Austin.

Spot on! We are part of a living, loving Universe. The universe is constantly challenging us, guiding us, working through us throughout Time. Our art and stories we tell are how we give clues to each other across centuries. Science hasn't realized this truth yet. But it's clear to me
@happymaskedguy19434 жыл бұрын
The universe is not loving. The reason science has been unable to show your ‘theory’ is because there is zero evidence to support it. In fact, there is plenty of evidence to the contrary of your claim. A loving universe would not have made 99.999999999 to infinity of itself completely hostile to life; nor would it have created ebola, or any other of the thousands of diseases. If you are still in doubt, look at the praying mantis-a creature that grabs its prey however it can, and begins to eat it alive, slowly, with a mouth like a woodchipper. No loving universe, or god, or consciousness, or pseudo ‘energy’ could create that.

This video has that mumbo jumbo feel to it. Command of craft and work ethic are what young poets need.

All poetry is good..remember kerouac said your a genius all the time! Believe in yourself..don't take advice! You don't need it...just write..and once you have written? Keep going....keep writing!!!

joe bian Love this advice from Kerouac. ✋🏼👊🏼

Then that means don't take any lessons from reading poems by other poets. Sorry but I disagree. You take no advice and you may end up dead and your work to.
@happymaskedguy19434 жыл бұрын
Agreed. All art is a process of learning, and we learn by failing, and it often takes fresh eyes to see why and how we are failing. ‘Take no advice’ is stupid and arrogant, and accounts for the vast dead piles of crap art that could have been better if the artist had been more humble.

Ill stick with jack kerouacs advice..remember your a genius all the time! Little people will try and bring you down..your parents might put you down.. Your teachers might sneer? Keep going and keep writing or painting or music..we all have talent..i read somewhere that you have talent until someone tells you you dont? Ignore them..little people everywhere who could have been something else..dont be like them..keep going..

@@joebian4065 That's cool, you do you. But don't expect your work to go anywhere. True geniuses are rare as gold dust. Don't count on being one of them.
