Thanks for video bud. When you pulled the choke butterfly and shaft. Do you need to plug the holes from the shaft.
@KentuckyFriedFixes2 жыл бұрын
Hi James! When I do the final install with a gasket I'll add a little RTV silicone gasket maker in the choke shaft holes. The adapter mounting screws are long enough to cover most of the hole but I'll add the RTV anyway to make sure no dust gets in. Always great questions! Thanks James!

Next time, lead off with the right filter adaptor. In my rush to get it ordered before the shipping window closed, I ordered the EC-308. 😆
@KentuckyFriedFixes3 ай бұрын
Hi Steven! Depending on how your carb measures at the air horn, you may need either part number filter adapter to work with the carb they send you. It's like luck of the draw on those carburetors even though you order thru the same link. Sometimes you get a "FULIN" brand and the next may be branded as "TILLOTSON" and I've gotten one with no brand markings at all. Some have the larger bore venturi some have the small bore. Unfortunately it's one of the headaches of knock off parts. But, it's worth the hassle IMO.
@Its-Steven3 ай бұрын
@@KentuckyFriedFixes I got the one labeled Tillotson.
@KentuckyFriedFixes3 ай бұрын
@@Its-Steven The Tillotson branded carb they sent me uses the 302VS part number adapter and the FULIN brand uses the EC-308 adapter. Which adapter you use depends on how your carb measures at the air horn. Either adapter will work because the bolt spacing is the same at 1.375" but the 302VS adapter fits the Tillotson branded air horn better. It's all in the video.

Hey bro. Hope you have a great thanksgiving. Next question. Have a tillotson 212E. New arc billet flywheel. Arc billet rod. Hot 265 cam. Robertson torque tubes looped staged header with high flow air filter. Top half plate pulse fuel pump external tank. Chinese clone tillotson carb. Hoping that carb will perform well. If not I guess go to the vm22. Wanted to know if you had any hints on hooking up throttle cable to that tilly clone?enjoy holiday my friend. Thank you for your time
@KentuckyFriedFixes2 жыл бұрын
Hi James! It's easy to find a throttle kit over at EC carburetors online. They have tons of bracket kits for those that bolt to the top of the Tilly. Their throttle kit will usually include a clevis too. Or you can make your own bracket too of course once you get the idea of what they look like. Happy Turkey day!

I’ve never tried a Tilly carb. Are they really that much better. Did you say the pump is in the carb? Great stuff! Thanks for sharing!
@KentuckyFriedFixes2 жыл бұрын
Thanks DIY Willy! The Tillotson is one of my favorite carbs! They're normally an expensive option only used for racing where one doesn't mind spending $300-$500 bucks for a carb setup, but these $14 Chinese copies have made it affordable for other projects. Total for this install was close to $100 but most of the cost was in the intake and air filter adapter.
@DIYWilly2 жыл бұрын
@@KentuckyFriedFixes sounds like a great option. What about jetting? Similar to regular clone carbs?
@KentuckyFriedFixes2 жыл бұрын
Oops! I forgot to add: Yes, they use a diaphragm pump that does physically push fuel into the carb bore. It's exactly like a pulse controlled fuel injection. Where these really shine is on a Methanol fuel engine where more=better. There is a down side too though. Since these push a lot of fuel they're not great for idling. Too much idle time can wash down the cylinder walls and fuel will end up in your engine oil. This carburetor is better suited for Kart racing and Methanol where you don't mind changing the oil after every race. This experiment on the 212 Ducar engine uses gasoline and is much milder than a Methanol racing setup. I will still monitor the engine oil for any fuel contamination though. Thanks!
@DIYWilly2 жыл бұрын
@@KentuckyFriedFixes Great thanks
@KentuckyFriedFixes2 жыл бұрын
@@DIYWilly No jets to change out on these, they have tapered fuel adjustment screws for the high and low. If you need more fuel you just open it up, for less you close them off. They're easy. The Methanol race carbs are about the same as the gas, they do open the passages up on those and sometimes add another pump block to the stack. But aside from the custom race tuning, it starts out the same carb as this $14 one.

Can you do a video on how to set up the throttle, and linkage on this carburetor?
@KentuckyFriedFixes3 ай бұрын
Hi Steven! EC has the throttle bracket in a kit form for these. You can make your own bracket once you've had a look at how they're set up. The bracket's only job is to hold the throttle cable in place. I do think it would be a good video idea to show installation of the bracket and how to set up the throttle for the tillotson clones. I will make a video on how to set one up but it won't be anytime soon. I know that's not going to help you if you need to install one now so I apologize in advance. I've got several projects that must be completed before the cold weather hits.

Hey man me again, was just thinking about ording some billet parts for my predator 212, i was looking at a flat top Piston but not sure if it would fit. On omb site it says this The standard bore on a Predator 212cc engine is 2.756". The Wiseco Piston #11132p94 is for a 2.756" bore, which means it will yield approximately .003" piston to wall clearance. This is right where you want to be, so provided your bore is good and needs nothing more than a fresh cross-hatch honing, it will be good. If your bore is larger, out-of-round, or the engine has already been run for a while with the stock piston, you will need to go with a larger piston. So do you think ill need a larger piston? my 212 is 6 months old or so and gets ran alot.
@KentuckyFriedFixes Жыл бұрын
It'll probably be fine but the only way to know for sure is to measure the clearance in the bore. When your piston comes in place it in the bore upside down without any rings and use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the piston skirt and cylinder wall. It's the cheapest way to know exactly what clearance you have.

Can i use a regular mikuni 22 intake manifold and just cut out that grove for the the little hole thats on the Tillotson carb? Are the screws going to line up to the Tillotson carburetor. Im trying to buy a cheaper one on Amazon and the cheaper Tillotson carb
@KentuckyFriedFixes Жыл бұрын
Hi Jeffrey! I couldn't get it to work with the VM22 intake. The ID was too large on my intake to work with the Tillotson. I know $50 for an intake is terrible. I have made Tilly intakes on the cheap with a piece of 1" ID tubing and two large flat washers welded in place. The steel tubing is not near as good as aluminum but it works.
