All the links I mention in the video are past this short description. In this video I answer the biggest question that I got after my last video on One Meal A Day (OMAD): What are you eating? I also answer some of the other most popular questions I received regarding one meal a day: When are you eating? How much food are you eating? When are you exercising? I also share about how I was inspired to eat this way after learning about the incredible Dr. Nun Amen-Ra and looking into his research on longevity through caloric and temporal food restriction. So far my gains from this change of eating have been phenomenal. I also can not stress enough that this is only my experience and that the answers for you lie within. You are your ONLY true source of guidance. Let's learn together, help one another, support each other on our journeys but remember that we are all individually governed and if we are to have the healthiest and happiest life possible, we must learn how to connect with ourselves. If you want to learn more about how to do that, I encourage you to check out my Thirty Days Program. I actually asked Nun when does he eat and why at that specific time and he responded with the following: _"A good question Akuma. Eating induces satiety as well as somnolence (sleepiness). This is partly because it requires energy to extract energy from food. I incessantly seek to maximize my mental and psycho-spiritual productivity. Thus, I eat only at the end of my productive day at a time when my most meaningful duties are done. For me, this chronologically coincides with midnight (give or take an hour)."_ He also does aerobics twice per day and another warm up before resistance training later on about a couple hours before he breaks his fast with his three part, hour long meal.

Great info man, been doing omad for almost 3 months now, been seeing some incredible results and im witnessing my body do things i never thought were possible, this is a game changer and i am glad you are getting into it as well, ive been watching your minimalist vids since you did the vandweling vids, so much synchronicity that went on since then, especially your vids about your relationship advice, its like you are my brother from anothwr mother walking a similar existencial path and i am just resonating so much with you its rediculous. I've been watching Markus Rothkranz for years. And heard about Amen Ra almost a couple years ago from Markus. Markus has since uploaded a updated interview from just this September. It is amazing how the body works and if we choose to listen to it and be in tune with our body we have the ability to feel great and do more! I have learned from my body if I have gone most of the day with little to no food whether intentionally or unintentionally many times I have more energy then if I ate a full meal. I have been incorporating intermittent fasting for a while though not strict about it. It is cool that you mentioned Markus Rothkranz from him and his girlfriend Cara I have learned so much. Looking forward to your updates.

Hey bro id just like to commend you on your omad diet. Being plant based and fasting must be ridiculously hard to do, so I'm very impressed and I think its great what you are doing! I myself eat a high animal fat ketogenic omad diet which I just find works best with my body, mind and digestion. Animal fats fill me up so much that its very easy for me to fast all day and stay in a ketogenic state. If I was to do this on a plant based diet I know I would not be satiated ever as I always get big insulin spikes from too many grains vegetables or fruits. (Due to my heritage) Now I know we are all different but even so I truly commend you man. I wish I could be on a plant based diet for the animals but my digestion does not handle it ( trust me i have tried haha). So Congratulations you're a inspiration and I wish you all the best with your omad journey, keep up the great videos. :)

Very good and informative video Conor! One thing Nun-Amen Ra does which seems unclear in this video is that he breaks his fast after his evening resistance training to help the anabolic process. In the new year I am committing to the OMAD so I’ll keep you posted on my findings (especially on the meal after resistance training). Thanks for your videos they have been of great assistance in my planning. -Namaste, God Bless, and I wish your continued health and prosperity 🙏

I love this. Your open-mindedness and humble nature resonates with me. I too am vegan OMAD though I am female and 38. I also tend to eat a lot of nuts and beans however my diet almost completely mimics that of the Mediterraneans in that I try to keep my carb/protein/fat ratios roughly similar. I eat a lot of avocados and usually have one with every meal. Since I've been doing this, my skin has felt so smooth! Anyway, I look forward to sharing in your omad journey and have subscribed :)

Steven and I are doing the eating from 4-8pm! Working well for us! We do coffee at 2 or 3 but plan to give that up in a day or two. I get hungry but wait a little and then it goes away. Drinking lots of water. I get more hungry at night than the day... so even when I stop eating at 8 I can be hungry at night... as time goes it's getting better though... less hungry over time.

Going on 3 months omad, I eat what I want, and will never give up carbs. EVER. But, I exercise and try to eat relatively healthy, and try to stick to wheat/multigrain breads. I've lost 30+lbs so far. I might make this a life long diet, depending what a year does. I use to drink like a monster, and stopped that as well. I prefer the mornings to eat

Thank you Conor, I've heard about IF/OMAD before but it was your video that made me try it out and it's been fantastic :) Little question though - why avoid fats so much? I know there's plenty of contradicting science, I used to cut fats a lot some time ago but now I recognised that coconut oil works great for my OMAD.
@ConorMcmillen
@ConorMcmillen 6 жыл бұрын
At this time is less based on science and more based on how I feel. I notice feeling a little heavy in my guts when I eat more fats. I also notice more acne spots. Maybe over time I will increase my fats and see how it feels but for now I really like these ratios. I know some raw vegans that consume coconut oil and they are some of the healthiest people I know. So- I say go for it! Thanks for asking!

Excellent video! I grew up doing OMAD, for one month, per year as a cleanse and reset for the new year. This is exactly how my family did it! I was reckless and switched to the SAD diet for 20 years, became obese and developed high blood pressure, high cholesterol and borderline diabetic. I've now been a WFPB vegan for 3 years. I've lost 45 lbs, normal blood pressure, moderate to low cholesterol and no longer pre-diabetic. I've hit a "wall" and am no longer loosing weight or decreasing my numbers. My doctor wants me to eat OMAD, with a 5 hour eating window at only 500 calories. Would you recommend how long your eating window and how many calories you would do, as a woman who is 4' 11" and 164 lbs?

so coming from 100% raw and having a bigger eating window, to now eating OMAD and reducing overall raw intake and increasing cooked intake, even though you are eating less in the end, it is still cooked,.... do you feel ok? digestion is ok with this higher protein and fat compared to fruit based raw vegan? this is where i would be coming from and am hesitant to add in so much cooked foods... but the over all intake mass and time would be less, which is ideal anyways... curious to your response :)

Hey Conor! I started weight lifting a few months ago and am also increasing my protein by a lot! It's interesting hearing your journey as we have both come from eating very high fruit diets. I personally find eating a lot of calories all throughout my day is working best for me but I do have friends that enjoy eating once a day and it works for them. I've been doing a lot of research into sports nutrition and it totally makes sense why you are feeling good on more protein but may I ask why you limit fat?
@ConorMcmillen
@ConorMcmillen 6 жыл бұрын
Badass! So awesome to hear about your experience as well. I am keeping fast under 20-25% because I have found that anything over that I start to feel a little dense in my gut and also have some acne pop up. It could be that over time I experiment with expanding my fat intake (it would certainly make some things easier) but so far I'm liking the feel of this ratio. What are your thoughts about it?
@tessnf
@tessnf 6 жыл бұрын
Interesting! From what I've researched it's more about the types of fat you are are eating vs. fat in general that you should avoid health wise (example: vegans want to make sure their getting a good ratio of omega 3s to omega 6s as well as saturated fat even from coconut should be avoided). I have personally been eating a lot more fat as it helps me get the calories I need to train and feel satiated (I've found I need to eat so much to sustain my energy!). I still love carb rich meals though! It's important for refilling glycogen stores especially after a workout. Either way, I just listen to my body on how much fat is too much and sounds like you're doing the same so that's awesome. It might be a matter of getting used to it if you do want to increase it though. I used to avoid fat as well especially when I was really struggling with digestive issues in the past.
@ConorMcmillen
@ConorMcmillen 6 жыл бұрын
I have read that as well and it totally makes sense. Even when I have a good ratio of fats from nuts and seeds I still feel that heaviness and my digestion slows down. But this is definitely something to consider and I may play around with this once I feel like I've really given this current regimen some time (probably another month). Thanks for the info!

Is caffeine good for us?
@ConorMcmillen
@ConorMcmillen 6 жыл бұрын
Your question is all-inclusive and the only all-inclusive answer I can give is that there is research that shows that caffeine as a stand alone substance has the potential to increase longevity in a variety of ways. That does not definitively mean caffeine is "good for us". If you pose the question, is caffeine good for you (Conor) and I can more easily give you an answer. If you pose the question is caffeine good for me (aczorr) you can more easily give me the answer. Much love!

I think most humans lost a lot of common sense. When you are fasting H20 is the only think your body needs.

High carb low fat diet?
@ConorMcmillen
@ConorMcmillen 6 жыл бұрын
If you consider under 20-25% fat "low fat" which you certainly could as a standard american diet is significantly higher. I don't think "high carb" dieters would categorize my diet as such although it is certainly higher carbs than, again, a standard american diet, ranging from 45-70%. My protein factors in for the rest of the difference. I'm not necessarily trying to go "high carb". I have just found that excess fat intake over 25% feels heavy for me and I am trying to hit 125 grams of protein within 2000-2500 calories so that pretty much controls the breakdown ratios. Thanks for asking

Conor McMillen low carb HIGH FAT vegetarian or vegan keto, will remove the cravings as your body can run on ketones, your own fat, after some time.

I'm confused what you are sorry about? Thanks for sharing your experience. To clarify, I primarily eat in a 2 hour window and sometimes go as long as four or as short as 1. Best to you

@@ConorMcmillen basically what I mean I waiting at 12 or 1pm on omad makes sleeping too difficult and leaves you way too hungry late at night. Make it a 5 or 6pm for your omad slot

Hi Conner, I drink just water with ACV...does ACV break a fast or am I ok?
@ConorMcmillen
@ConorMcmillen 6 жыл бұрын
1 tbs is 3 calories. I doubt you are having anything more than, what, a few tablespoons, perhaps 10 calories? It seems pretty low to me. That being said, my heaviest drink, calorically speaking, is 3.5 calories (a cup of green whole bean coffee). I don't have any experience personally having more than that amount in any given 12 fl oz and generally it is below 1 calorie from tea or stevia. I have a hunch that AVC would be stimulating to one's digestive system in a way that tea and even coffee would not be and in that way it may inhibit a deeper fasting state. You could always play around with limiting ACV intake to shorter window and see how your body feels in the meantime. Particularly if you notice you are feeling hungry without it. That would be a clear indication to me that your fasting state is deepening. I would be curious to hear how it goes for you!

Conor McMillen thanks!!!’...yes I do 2 tablespoons ACV & half a lemon to 1 liter of water. I was thinking that I would be still in the fasting state....I’m going to try just water to see if I feel any different. My eating window is 4pm-7pm
@ConorMcmillen
@ConorMcmillen 6 жыл бұрын
I think 2 tablespoons and half a lemon may be pushing it a little bit in regards to calories. In a sense you are having fruit juice and water even if it is void of sugar there is still a digestive load happening. I would be curious how it felt to change it up for 3 days or so if at anytime that sounds fun. Either way I think what you are doing is awesome and it is going to be a huge benefit in your life. Making tweaks along our journey is just all part of the fun ;) Much love

Conor McMillen so I stopped it all now I’m just doing water only till 4pm...eating window is 4pm-7pm. I get really hungry by 3pm...I think the ACV was helping to suppress the appetite...but it’s ok I’ll get use to it. I do feel much better. Lots of energy and my sleep is so much better

Awesome! And I tried two days with ACV haha ;) It's good to play around with these things! Yes I found it definitely suppressed appetite. It felt filling in an interesting way even though the bottled versions I had listed 0 calories. I have to do some more research on this but for now I like the empty feeling a bit more. Happy you got a chance to try this out!
