I got prescribed Wellbutrin for “depression” but more for my ADHD because they don’t want me taking stimulants anymore (I had a TIA with high blood pressure in November 2023). Tried the Wellbutrin and became an absolute zombie within 2-3 hours after taking it. Tried it a couple more days. Same results and monitoring my BP, it went up about 15-20. Decided it was not for me.

To bring some balance to this discussion, Wellbutrin can be very dangerous, especially for those who have a high strung nervous system and extreme anxiety - remember that it's a stimulant. I was prescribed it as a teenager, and it caused me severe panic attacks and a number of seizures. Furthermore it caused me permanent neurological damage, which has caused some cognitive difficulties and a significant tremor even now, 20 years after quitting the medication. Doctors never warn you about these side effects - they never acknowledged them until I was already brain damaged, and yes, Wellbutrin and other antidepressants are safe for some people, but A LOT of users suffer long-lasting brain damage, sexual dysfunction, metabolic dysfunction, increased suicidality, panic attacks, emotional deadening, and many other horrible effects. Please do your research - and not just from mainstream medical sources - before consenting to put these substances in your body. You may regret it for the rest of your life. I do.

my therapist and i are discussing wellbutrin as an option for me, for im suffering with GAD, Adhd and depressive symptoms. i will say i never took any medication for my mental health and im really scared and nervous i always look at the side effects of medications and think about all the things that could go wrong or what its gonna do to my brain. i feel like im in a constant battle with myself wondering if i really need medication. idk i feel so lost at the moment. as someone with health anxiety im scared to take medication but i wanna get better it’s just been so hard!! any suggestions?? has anyone been through what im describing??

In the beginning, wellbutrin can work fast, by bringing on some energy, motivation, and less depression. However, after being on it for quite a while, it’s lost most of its effectiveness. I’ve asked for an increase, but the doctor is not comfortable going beyond 300mg due to increase in seizure risks. Still on it but had to add another med. The med that worked so well for me for bad fatigue, was Provigil, which is a smart drug initially made for narcolepsy. It became so expensive. Maybe I’ll try it again one day.

Im having my psych appointment in 3 days and have been eying Wellbutrin since my less positive experience with SSRI's as a teen. Like you said man been sober for 1.5 years and was riding the self care, anti establishment, i can do it im strong mindset but its just not serving me as my depression is reaching bad points yet again. Thanks

Hey Conor, I appreciate your video and insight. Was wondering about your mens group. Is that an online thing? Part of a church you go to? I'm hoping to find more of a support group for guys that battle anxiety) depression. I've been to some 12 step groups and they seem a bit sterile too me. Wondering if you have any suggestions? Thanks

I don’t see why you couldn’t take a low dose as needed. For example, if you don’t get enough sleep. It made my anxiety slightly worse. I felt more laid back when I skipped a day.

Just had a terrifying experience on Buproprion which is why I'm here. Doc started me on 300 mg and ended up at urgent care with "serotonin syndrome". When those commercials say "call your doctor if..." a bunch of bad crap happens- it was that crap.
@deangrubbs5376
@deangrubbs5376 9 күн бұрын
Wellbutrin does not affect serotonin. It is a Norepinephrine/Dopamine reuptake inhibitor. This does not discount your horrible experience nor am I discounting serotonin syndrome because you got that dx from a professional. The syndrome makes me wonder what happened to put you in that predicament. Did anyone ever check the meds to see if it was something else? Thanks if you feel like responding… full respect if you choose not to.

Dude, you come across as very lost and I daresay oblivious to the root of your depression. Depression and anxiety don't just come out of nowhere. You are not born with it. As a counsellor myself I can tell you that 99.99% of early depression is the result of toxic homes of abuse or neglect with most of my clients. If you haven't fully explored your childhood with a therapist then you are wasting your life away and will unfortunately never heal. You need to grieve whatever it is has created this despair in you. Most clients will have no idea that they were abused because it is locked away deep in their subconscious.

Beware of taking drugs. You can kill yourself from their effects and also getting off them can make you kill yourself. It is highly dangerous.

Glad I found your videos. Thanks for the information. I just started Buprophin today. I suffer from adult ADHD and I believe much of it is due to lifetime hormonal imbalance. I started Menopause Hormone Replacement therapy 5 months ago but still find when I start experiencing PMDD symptoms still yet, my anxiety and depression come back full force. I'm hoping it works for me to even be allowed to focus and help me to complete some of the 30 projects I have going on. I agree with you that you can't just depend on the medication, but changing lifestyle habits that would work with the meds.🙏🙏🙏

Hey Brother... this is really helpful. I'm similar and not a fan of ssri tried them before and going through another rough patch last 18 months. Trying all the self care stuff , journaling, counciling, reflecting on crap life events, willpower, sleep but its such a battle. Finances and life / work falling apart despite trying hard. I didnt want to admit failure and need a pharma solution.. but research has landed on wellbutrin. So gonna see if can give it a go.. see if it helps. Cheers for the rec on the mens groups too. I've followed your channel. This video has been really empowering that it's also okay to talk about this stuff too. Cheers !

I really pray that this works for me too. I have been taking for almost a month now and I still can't tell whether this is working for me or not but I certainly still have the insomnia you speak of. It is so bad that I have to use zzzquil in order to sleep because without it, I don't sleep for more than 4 hours. It has been challenging for sure.
