I feel Jiyuna's pain... but I am absolutely interested in seeing how a Strive Baiken would translate because it is a fun thought experiment. I'd say maybe followups from reversal should only be possible with RC.

Your claim that her offense and defense are amazing is correct. However, her neutral is mediocre. Her buttons are slower and have less range than most. Her aggressive space control is a high-risk commitment. She either wants to be in your face running offense, or turtling up and letting you run into her defense. Her pokes are weaker than average, and her best space control option (IABD tatami) requires retreating and giving up space to her opponent, where she'll eventually corner herself. Azami (which is not the gaurd point command dash, but rather the parry stance) leaves her in a counterhit state, and still requires her to guess high or low. It also loses to throws, and the follows ups aren't necessarily garunteed, allowing you to still poke with fast recovering moves pretty safely. The parry window of the gaurd cancel version is also very short (like 7f or so), so you can adjust the timing of your blockstrings to catch her attempting to azami at the wrong time, and then counterhit her for trying. It can be annoying to deal with, but it's also high-risk, so if you can start punishing her Azami attempts, you can very quickly get her to start resorting to more universal defensive options or straight up just kill her for trying.

It's hilarious how many people don't watch the video to the end or don't know the matchup are saying to just use low or worse that he doesn't know her weakness after fighting her by his own statements multiple times as a Leo main. His own experience tells him about what can happen. Leo doesn't have a good far reaching low that he can press on thought safely to blow up Baiken's Sukarn safely or even reliably.

For Azami, you want to condition the player to block high so that 2K or 2D into Rekkas will beat it everytime. Low Azami will lose to 5D. For Seruzen (Forward moving Guard Point), all follow ups after the dash are negative. If they opt to dash forward and grab, 2K and 2D will beat the ending frames of the dash. (Timing is tight, so if you cant get it, use back dash or any move that low profiles them) For Claw, tap Blitz works really well. If not FD the follow up as most of them are hard to interrupt. Baiken has some of the lowest health in the game, so for the most part: play defensive, stagger your pressure and wait for an opportunity to punish their usage of specials.

Actually doing 5D against low azami is so slow that Baiken has a chance to escape. I usually tell people to low stand azami and throw low azami for that reason. Suzuran can be abared with lows but it opens you up for rokkon CH which is death and can be made burst safe. Instead throw suzuran, that is safer and calling it out is higher risk for Baiken. For the claw. While blitzing after seems strong if the Baiken autopilots. You eat shit if it's called out. It's stronger to IB the claw, because she's suddenly -2 and forced to play azami rps. Lastly since 2.1 her health isn't that low anymore. You can guts crush with huge moves like heavenly or backturn super, but aside from stun her hp is only slightly below average.

That is less vulnerable and more "I can press a button, but everything I do can be countered by low Azami". A Parry mechanic is just strong against big button character like Leo.

@@PapstJL4U If Baiken frequently goes for a parry in these situations then you can just run up and throw. Parry has a big recovery window of 32 frames. It's similar to a regular DP. "Every button I press after Sol is -4 can be countered by a DP, whatever can I do?" The answer is to be aware of the reversal situation, react and punish appropiately.

You can always kill a Baiken. Her Def-Values and counter hit states make it possible to be blown her up. the thing about baiken is that she looks very dominant when her counters are working, its a mind game after all. her armor during azami movement tho is only 1 hit so, challenge with a multi hitting move or do a low hitting move to beat it. after there horizontal hook there's a major gap too

I'd like to see Baiken back in strive just as a counter-stance character. I think that type of character is neat (one built around it, not just a generic counter.) Just remove Tatami and keep Azami, Seruzen, and Claw. I think that'd be fine since they're trying to make it more grounded so not everyone needs a big pop-up. It also boils down her playstyle to "bait into Azami and punish" instead of TATAMI GAESHI, though she'd still lose an iconic move from her kit.
