Or you could get the cheaper 4 th gen camaro, or even a gto, or a g8, a few cars came with the ls1, some came with the ls2, which is a more powerful ls1, but they have a common valve drop issue

C5 are actually cool cars. I considered one a 2001 when I was shopping. I ended up getting a Charger R/T but man I always wonder how it would been if I would of gotten the C5 over my 2010 R/T. I went FBO, Tuned on 93 octane with 2010 Hemi 5.7 making 374RWHP , I raced a C5 with Shorty headers, I won by a car length from a 30-130 Roll race.

@@clawmachinetime955 u know nothing. A C5 stock for stock is already close enough with a 09+ R/T. A R/T only needs headers and will beat a C5 base model. A 6.1 SRT8 already beats a c5 stock. Let alone a 392 beats the c5 both z06 and base model. Just shows you haven’t really race and all you see is videos online. You can watch my videos my friends Camaro ss that lost to my R/T beat a C5. C5 are great cars and are fast and can be faster than chargers but don’t cap and talk about something you know nothing about

Maybe I can give some insight. I've owned both. 2 C5 Corvettes and a 2007 R/T(not a 2010 I know, but still). The Charger wins in comfort and practicality, but the C5 wins everything else. Handling is night and day. The R/T feels like using a hammer, the C5 feels like a katana. From the seating position, aerodynamics, weight distribution, lower center of gravity, the way you feel connected to the car and the road is totally different. The engines are very similar, torque curve and all that isn't much different. But the Charger feels more like a fast, comfy couch and the C5 feels like an extension of your body. That's the best way I can describe it. Both fun cars in their own way, but I'm a sucker for cars that feel "athletic". But if you get a C5 you should definitely get the 6 speed manual. The 4 speed auto is sluggish, boring in comparison, and overall just takes away from the almost perfect driving experience.

Must have been a 2000 older auto. A manual shifted probably basically stock weighs 1000lbs less and makes 40 less wheel so, math. Not enough for the 8 speed to make up. Charger RTs are slooooowww

@@carado1984 stock C5 1999 4 spd auto. Lost to my gutted FBO, Tuned 2010 charger R/T . I have the video of it and we did all type of rolls. 20-30-45-50-60. My charger came out on top every single race. Not by much but it did pull specially on lower end rolls.on top of that it’s not a 1k pound difference. Without being gutted Charger rt is 4K pound even and corvette is 3300 pounds. Why add 300 pounds more.

Na not really! People say you should upgrade the supplied clamps but mine don’t really leak. You can but not necessary. I’m in Vegas and my temps stay just fine - I’m sure it’d help though

What oil are you running. 5-30w? I have a gto with heads cam and fast 102 intake and throttle body. It has a ticking sound and i think its because of the oil. It has 0-40w in it.

@@C5Zach I dunno the guy I bought the car from said use 0-40w. He said 5-30w is to thin for ls1 especially if its modified. I have his service log and he stopped using 5-30w at 29,000miles. It currently has 39,000 miles on it. I live in California so the weather is mild. I don't plan on driving it in the winter. I am due for a oil change that's why I'm confused also. It has good oil pressure at 35psi when it's at operating temp. My theory is 5-30w is thinner so it should flow better and cause my ticking to go away. Also everyone recommends 0-40w. But in my case I think thinner oil like 5-30w will lubricate the lifters better making it less ticking. I don't expect it to completely go away. I think I need performance rocker arms due to the 224 cam I have installed. I don't think the previous owner thought of changing the rocker arms.
