For individual or a couple states nothing beats a DeLorme Gazzetter. I'm a member of a campk kinda near you just above Cumberland Md just in Pa, and ride down into WVa and Md a bunch. Have you been to Waffle rock or the Old town toll bridge, both on the Patomic. For adventure riders Town creek rd off Md 51 has multiple creek crossings when water levels are low enough. Nancy Hanks birthplace and Lost river rd are hidden gems in Wva.

Love your videos. Especially the ones where you go into detail about the specific costs to travel. I find the adventure of traveling by motorcycle with my wife the most rewarding way to go. You almost have me talked into a super adventure over the GS Adventure. My only major concern is the heat coming off the engine onto you. The heat from the GS engine seems to go out the bottom or up behind the windshield which doesn't get on to me. Do you notice heat coming onto you or your wife?

J.D. thanks. As for the engine heat, I'm almost always wearing riding pants or at the minimum riding jeans, and engine heat has never been an issue for me or Kristen. That said, if you want it to be a little cooler a heat deflector kit can be picked up for the SA for around $100.

Thanks. Remove the bracket for the charger kit from inside your top case; you'll gain a bit more room and things won't keep getting hung up on it either.

Ken, the jacket/pant liners mentioned in the video were the AlpineStars Drystar (rain liners). I already wear waterproof gloves and boots so that's all that was needed. I'll go into more detail about our riding gear in the final video of the series.

Do you carry oil, gas, water for emergencies with the bike?

We normally have some water on the bike but I don't carry any additional fuel or oil. I do check the oil at the end of each day's ride (and again in the morning) to ensure it's where it needs to be. As for fuel, I've never found myself more than 105 miles from a gas station (and the bike will cover over 300) so I've never had a need to carry extra.

No water, canteens or filter, gutno food, no extra fuel, no tent/shelter and/or sleeping bags, no fire starter or cookware, no battery booster or solar charger, yibbity, yibbity, yada, yada, yada ....probably riding in t-shirts and flip flops... Yup, yer ready to go cross country. 👍
