Trading and interacting with folks (I actually had to seek forum help for the first time too to get my pokedex completed) was so fun that I may actually do it with other games now and it's all thanks to wanting to really give the Masuda method a good go!

My first Masuda Method Pokémon was a Popplio in Sun. I hatched 24 eggs and the 25 fifth was not near from hatching and went to sleep (It was 11:45 pm and had to go to school by 7:30.) I woke up the next morning it was 6:20 and had time to prepare for school, so I turned on my 3ds, hatches the 25th egg, and there it was, a shiny Popplio. I was mind blown because it was already a guaranteed shiny egg when I saved and went to sleep right before that last egg could hatch.

Before I knew about the Masuda Method, my first shiny from it was a shiny Togepi in Pokémon Black/White. I hatched a shiny Togepi (not realizing it was shiny until I saw the sparkly stars) & wondered how I got it. I had to have a friend explain it to me & then began my research on it. And since then, most of my shiny Pokémon I obtain are via the Masuda Method (Legends Arceus & Gen 9 are the exceptions now).

I have only used the Masada method once to hunt for a shiny Popplio in Pokémon Shield after missing the event to get a shiny Primarina from Pokémon Bank for USUM. The MM successfully yielded me my shiny male Primarina, nicknamed Trixie after my favorite drag queen.

I didn’t start doing the Masuda Method until SWSH because in gens 6 and 7, there were better methods like SOS. However, I now have over 40 masuda method shinies, my first one was a Dreepy in 79 eggs.

I'll never forget the time in Let's Go Pikachu. Route 17, doing pre-league training, catching Eevees and whatnot. I caught an Eevee there, which started my streak of 1, and as I was about to progress downwards, a Shiny Eevee popped up. After a lot of Ultra Balls, I caught it. I'll never be more proud.

It just occurred to me that I had no idea what the Masuda method actually was. I hear people say it all the time but having never hunted, or even caught, a shiny Pokemon before it was just a thing other people did in my mind. I knew it was breeding but didn't realise it had to be using traded Pokemon from other regions. Neat.

My first shiny (Red Gyarados aside) was an Electrike. I still haven't evolved her, since I don't hugely like shiny Manectric. Whe was in Gen 3, so I made her a contest champ! My first experience with the Masuda Method after I heard about it was my second main shiny hunt, in Gen 5 (previous was Eevee in Gen 3). It was with the shiny charm, since I had already finished out the Unova dex, and for Absol. Since then I've always used it, I have a German Ditto I use.

I love the method!!!! I’ve used it a lot in gen 8, my first shiny Pokémon I did was Galarian slowpoke with my second being sobble. I’ve obtained a total of 9 different shinies with the masuda method in gen 8

My first Masuda bred shiny was a Ralts. Not only that I have two Ralts I obtained this way: One in X and the second in Shield, who is now my beloved partner and Gardevoir called Voile.

I started attempting Masuda Method hunts in Moon (my first Pokemon game) though I was never successful. It wasn't until Shield when I got my first successful Masuda hunt in under 2 hours (which is one of my greatest achievements.) It was a Drifloon, and I love it so. The next Masuda hunt I did was a Zorua that went WAAAAAAY over odds, and took like 3 or 4 months of on and off hunting. It meant all the more when I finally got it though

My first shiny from the matsuda method was actually an accident. In my copy of shield I was starting to work on completing my Pokédex and saw that I didn't have a seedot yet but I did have a nuzleaf from a surprise trade I did earlier on so I bred the nuzleaf to get one and it hatched shiny. It was only at this point that I realized that the nuzleaf had been Spanish and that the seedot was technically a Matsuda method shiny.

My first ever shiny was a wild shiny Starly right when I started a replay of Platinum! Amazing luck, except for the fact that it was before I could get pokeballs

The very first wild shiny Pokémon that I can remember encountering was a Geodude but, this was years before my household had internet so I didn't think much of it with a random golden Geodude showing up and KOed it like usual. That and my brother would overwrite that save anyway because he wanted to play and didn't have his onw GBASP and Pokémon game yet.

My first Masuda Metho'd shiny was a Ralts in Y, then a Mawile. (Megas made me love them both). After that I haven't ever purposefully bred for shinies, but whenever I breed for competitive mons I use Masuda Method just in case and have gotten few "accidental" shinies that way.

My first non static shiny was a Zweilous in White 2 and Y is when I got my first shiny from breeding, it was a Phantump, and I still have both. I was constantly breeding shinys in 6th gen.

The first shiny I ever hatched through this method was a shiny Sandygast. I evolved it into Palossand, it was female, and I named her Pele after the Hawaiian Goddess of volcanoes. She hatched on Halloween of 2018.

Never used the Masada method, but my first shiny encounter was a shiny graveler in Pokémon platinum. Unfortunately for me…it was on iron island…where Riley joins you the entire time. As we all know, you can’t catch Pokémon in a double battle, and that’s exactly what happened to me. To this day I hold a grudge against that pile of 0s and 1s.

My first shiny was a ladyba from Pokemon X! I still fondly remember the first time I encountered it as after a heart wrenching decision to restart my game to revisit my first ever Pokemon game one of my first new team members was a shiny ladyba! I know Ledian isnt exactly strong, but he was a good partner to have [:

one of the reasons i love pokemon so much is that one of their mission statements is literally to just bring the world together through a love of pokemon. I've made a lot of friends through the community online and off. It wouldnt be the same without trading.
