@Deso Lark considering that brine was introduced in gen 4, no. Unless you’re talking about lugia and mew learning water moves in general. Then yes. Mew can learn all TM moves and Lugia is pretty much a pseudo water type. Not sure why they didnt make it water in the first place.
@raerohan4241
@raerohan4241 2 жыл бұрын
@@seamusaparicio3564 Yeah, Lugia is supposed to be Ho-Oh's opposite, so it should have been water-type. But it's also meant to be its equal, so I guess the devs didn't want it to have an advantage over Ho-Oh? But Lugia still has an advantage since it still learns so many water-type moves, so they didn't do a good job if that was the intention. The other thing I can think of is that they didn't want to make it weak to all of of the legendary birds (it's already weak to two by virtue of its flying-type alone) since Lugia is supposed to be their trio master and it wouldn't be realistic if all the birds were strong against it...
@pheonix3883
@pheonix3883 2 жыл бұрын
@@seamusaparicio3564 I remember that in an interview they said that they had to choose between water, flying and physic type. Physic type was really powerfull in gen2 so they HAD to give it to a legendary . then they thought that it would be wrong and weird for lugia to be hit by ground type moves so they gave him the flying typing

I always think of Hariyama as a pretty decently-designed sumo wrestler Pokémon, but upon using it, its defense really stink. 144 HP is phenomenal but 60 in both physical and special defense kinda detriments the use of that HP. My personal little head canon when thinking about Pokemon wearing clothes is that the clothes are not biological or that they're found in the wild, but that humans dress up their Pokemon in clothing because many of the humanoid shaped fighting type Pokemon are so close to human anatomy that they look a bit on the naked and inappropriate side when in human captivity. Further, many of these clothes might be culturally associated with a certain Pokemon, so in the same way that a little Scottish terrier is put into a tartan coat when going for a walk, a Throh is always in a white judo outfit, or a Hariyama into a sumo wear .

that doesn't explain why wild pokemon wear them though.

Or it could maybe be the other way around, the Pokemon were first to wear a certain kind of "clothing" and then it was adopted by humans. Maybe wild Sawk and Throh wore garbs and held them up with belts and later martial artists began doing the same

I've always had this sort of admiration and affection for Fighting-Types, Hariyama in particular. I love the description of how Makuhita gets stronger by eating a lot, sleeping a lot, and training a lot. No frills, no special power, just getting knocked down and knocked down and knocked down but always getting back up stronger than before. Plus I like the way Hariyama is so tanky compared to the usual fast, hard-hitting Pokémon that get Fighting Typing. I like that it doesn't have particularly high Defense or Special Defense, but a ton of HP. It makes me think that Hariyama is just so tough and full of vitality that it muscles through without any natural armor or mysterious powers.

I'm surprised the hands being similar to those hand pads boxing trainers wear wasn't brought up during the whole "Hariyama train Makuhita" section.

You should do one contemplating on different pokemon appearances & thru evolution they look the way the do because overtime they wanted to be closer & mimic people. Like kubfu,lopunny,or hariyama for a few examples & what they could of looked like before & how culture/humans changed them. And a theory are pokemon getting closer to speaking or becoming more human like?

As a kid playing RSE, I never could wrap my head around the way hariyama looks. Even after watching a ten minute video on it, I still can’t wrap my head around why they made it look like that

Austin, I have a theory you may be interested in. Based on the new Legends: Arceus trailer, we have to take on and subdue "noble" pokemon. Considering that the game is based in the Meiji period most likely, during political reform, I don't think Arceus is a god - but he is a lord, representing the Shogun. Especially with an expedionary company involved, like the United States arms companies, the goal of the game looks to be to take out the nobles and topple the Shogunate, just like the Meiji period. In pokemon fashion. Thought it would be worth looking into.

I always interpreted the yellow flaps on Hariyama as the remains of Makuhita's sack, where Makuhita would evolve by gaining the strength needed to flex and rip the sack to shreds.
