That is because Apple is not a component manufacturer. The Samsung group company which manufactures OLED screens is different from the one which makes phones. The Samsung group company which makes displays is called Samsung mobile display company, to which both Samsung Mobile phone company and Apple (and other smartphone manufacturers) are equally important customers. Each Samsung group company has separate finances and separate management (including president). The display company of Samsung group will sell to the customers which gives them most profit (irrespective of whether it is Samsung mobile phone company or an outside phone maker). Apple doesn’t only buy displays from Samsung, but from multiple vendors (LG, BOE). So Apple using a Samsung display has nothing to do with Samsung phone company(as display and phone belong to totally different Samsung group companies). I worked for Samsung displays and that is why I know. At times the Samsung mobile display would prioritize selling to Apple than Samsung mobile phone company. Because president of each group company is evaluated by its own profitability. The Samsung Display company is very old, which started with CRTs, followed by plasma displays then LCDs and OLEDs, while Samsung Mobile phone company is relatively new. Apple always bought displays from Samsung (amongst other vendors), and it is well known and there is nothing to concede, as Apple is not a display manufacturer. Back in 2003, we at Samsung Display were talking to Apple about display sales for their laptops.

What, you mean that new camera sliding option that they added? Samsungs have an SPen built-in. All you gotta do is wave it like harry potter waving a wand and you can zoom in, zoom out, take multiple pictures, switch from the front and rear cameras, switch camera modes and take group pictures all while being 10 meters away from your phone. @@NekoYuki as someone who switched from iphone to android back in the 3GS era... consumers often just naively assume it's very difficult to transition and stick to iphone out of straight up laziness. my friend convinced me back then by lending me his spare android for a month before i (de)converted; it's a rather effective method. and remember, back then iphones were legit far smoother and had really better hardware on top of things like itunes (pre-spotify era) imessaging (pre-whatsapp era) even friggin safari was better than chromium for phone browsers back then. but android was already superior in customisability, which means even cheaper slower phones could run fairly stable. and before long, apple was gonna get exposed with their iOS updates slowing down older phones to "save battery" without the owner's consent. androids did not care about your battery because... well, most of them (back then) didn't lock their battery up and it's possible to buy replacement batteries - whether OEM or not. i rambled. the thing is, iphones are for idiots who don't wanna think too much about their device but still wanna look like they have a good one and who don't mind overpaying about 2-300% for that blissful ignorance.

I’d call it more like console vs PC. Console game compatibility is easy, it just works because it’s made for that hardware in the first place. On iPhone it’s supported by iPhone (number) and above, easy. On PC and Android there are hundreds of possible models/spec combinations and so compatibility can be complicated On PC it’s easy to justify looking to optimize games for your big TV. I can’t think of very many games I could benefit from having a super high graphical quality experience… on mobile (though they probably exist, just not what I could see myself playing)

And Android OS is just a baby operating system to me ever since its introduction as a knock off of iPhone operating system. I don't need to customize my app icons. I've gone back and forth a few times and the straw that broke the camel's back last time I went back to iOS was because I opened up a password prompt on Android and it didn't open up the keyboard. That kind of lack of attention on the Android UX is all over the place and drove me nuts.

@@Mistygio That's hilarious. If anything, Android was a knockoff of Blackberry, not iOS. The very first Android phone even had a trackball, because Android was originally designed for PDA style phones, instead of casual use phones like the iPhone. It has _always_ had more built in productivity features than iOS (formerly iPhoneOS). Meanwhile, it took years and years for any companies to adopt iPhones because they were not designed at all for real productivity. They were iPods that could make calls. The only reason they caved was because it was cheaper to let people use their own iPhones than it was to provide them with and train them how to use phones with more advanced operating systems (like Blackberry and Android). I mean, it's nice that iOS has finally caught up for the most part but to claim that Android is a "baby operating system" compared to iOS just tells me that you really don't know anything about Android.
