I do everything that Dr. Karam says. Except I make my own bone broth fot the last 15 years. I am 49. People say I look like I'm in my mid 30s. Bothers me a little. It was late 20s for a while. I contribute a lot of it to weight training since I was 17. But I'm sure everything else has helped - skin care, diet. Gave up alcohol, ultra processed food and sugar a few years ago. Make my own food. Too much crap out there. Most importantly my body feels good. But now I've entered perimenopause/ menapause. Trying to learn how to navigate this next level of life.

Dr. Karam, this is one of your best videos. I believe there are things women and men should do before having any plastic surgery done. One of them are all the things you talk about in this video. It's important to eat right, take vitamins and supplements, exercise, and be consistent with skin care. There is another thing that is important and that we need to consider in the equation, and that is our teeth because our teeth have to do with our wellness, ex: internal organs one being, heart for example. Getting back to why this should be addressed before having plastic surgery is because we need to be consistent with the care of our teeth. If we are not brushing twice a day for approximately 2 min a day, getting dental checkups we need to ger on the band wagon with this. You don't want yellow, rotten, crooked teeth before considering plastic surgery. Take care of your teeth and all things Dr. K speaks about in this video first.

Please do a video on menopause and hormones and wrinkles, weight gain, body speeding up aging process. I know there’s a lot of concern about breast cancer and taking hormones in menopause. But I just heard something about all those studies being done ages and ages ago and the studies weren’t done correctly, so they really didn’t know if May have been candidates for getting cancer anyway. So please do a video on when a person should start taking hormones and when it may not be the best thing or if there’s a better alternative to this, and who am I person might go to to start hormone therapy. Because I’ve heard that most gynecologist don’t really know much about menopause at all. That’s the least studied portion of OB/GYN so what kind of education should a person be looking for when they’re looking for a doctor to start hormonal therapy with? As always, your videos are so informational thank you so much.

I went through early menopause at 43-44. I’m 70 now. I’ve been taking hormones since then with gynecological approval. There are new studies that a woman can take them the remainder of her life with many benefits (breast cancer risks have been downplayed, original studies were flawed). I take bioidentical hormones. I use an estradiol skin patch replaced once week, an estradiol tablet inserted in the vagina twice a week and progesterone capsules day 1-12 of each month. If I took progesterone every day it cancelled out some of the benefits of the estradiol patch but then I wouldn’t get a period (yes at 70!).

Vast majority of kidney stones are formed of calcium oxalate. It is only a minority - maybe 1% that are formed of an amino acid found in collagen. So there is a risk of forming kidney stones by taking collagen but it is very small.

Hi Dr. Karam, new to the channel. I've heard you mention micro needling a couple of videos. I know you're referring to an office procedure, but I was wondering if the face rollers with needles are a gimick or if they actually help in conjunction with other skin care products for an at home option?

I have had a tummy tuck and breast augmentation. That was 16 yrs ago. I would love to have you do a vertical restoration on my face! Thanks for taking your valuable time to help us!!!

I used tretinoin for over twenty years, listening to others I decided to implement vitamin c serum in my routine about 3 years ago. I was fine for about a year! After that first year, suddenly I couldn’t use both vitamin c and retinol in any steps. My skin freaks out, it gets freckle reddish, tender stinging, so now I can not use them together in any routine. Not one in AM one in PM, not one today one tomorrow barely getting away with using trentinoin/retinol. Thank you for the tips Dr. Karam.

Try to use stable forms of vitamin C and lower percentage. Also I highly recommend niacinamide, it was a game changer for me!
@dramirkaram3 ай бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that. In order to prevent this kind of reaction, we've encapsulated our Retinol in the KaramMD Trifecta to allow for a slow release to the skin and added anti-inflammatories around the Vitamin C. In addition, we've formulated our Vitamin C serum (Quench) and our all-in-one Retinol cream (Illuminate) with two daily half doses of these ingredients for a gentler result. Dr, Can u make recommendation for what to put on lips? I’m 55 and newly menopausal women. My lips peel and I don’t know why. I use vit c serum, glycolic acid, and retin A on face but I don’t use it on lips. Could any of these cause lip peeling despite the fact that I don’t put them on my lips? Or could this be another “pleasant”effect of menopause? This started a few mts ago. Products and menopause occurred 2023. I use high quality products too. I wish more men put at least half as much effort into their appearance as this dr does!

Thank you for all of these Dr. Karam…and all the wisdom (and your own exemplary technique and artistry) you’ve shared with us! Please do look these supplements up: not related to collagen production, but there are proven results regarding skin healing and protection from sun damage. The combination of polypodium, astaxanthin and niacin (available in combination in a supplement called Heliocare). Since a major element of skin ageing is due to sun damage, these are an excellent complement to any routine of supplements for people living in regions of strong sun (such as us on the Southern California coast). I hope to see/hear your thoughts in another video! I’m Lucienne by the way :)
