Dr. Karam, this is one of your best videos. I believe there are things women and men should do before having any plastic surgery done. One of them are all the things you talk about in this video. It's important to eat right, take vitamins and supplements, exercise, and be consistent with skin care. There is another thing that is important and that we need to consider in the equation, and that is our teeth because our teeth have to do with our wellness, ex: internal organs one being, heart for example. Getting back to why this should be addressed before having plastic surgery is because we need to be consistent with the care of our teeth. If we are not brushing twice a day for approximately 2 min a day, getting dental checkups we need to ger on the band wagon with this. You don't want yellow, rotten, crooked teeth before considering plastic surgery. Take care of your teeth and all things Dr. K speaks about in this video first.

Please do a video on menopause and hormones and wrinkles, weight gain, body speeding up aging process. I know there’s a lot of concern about breast cancer and taking hormones in menopause. But I just heard something about all those studies being done ages and ages ago and the studies weren’t done correctly, so they really didn’t know if May have been candidates for getting cancer anyway. So please do a video on when a person should start taking hormones and when it may not be the best thing or if there’s a better alternative to this, and who am I person might go to to start hormone therapy. Because I’ve heard that most gynecologist don’t really know much about menopause at all. That’s the least studied portion of OB/GYN so what kind of education should a person be looking for when they’re looking for a doctor to start hormonal therapy with? As always, your videos are so informational thank you so much.

I went through early menopause at 43-44. I’m 70 now. I’ve been taking hormones since then with gynecological approval. There are new studies that a woman can take them the remainder of her life with many benefits (breast cancer risks have been downplayed, original studies were flawed). I take bioidentical hormones. I use an estradiol skin patch replaced once week, an estradiol tablet inserted in the vagina twice a week and progesterone capsules day 1-12 of each month. If I took progesterone every day it cancelled out some of the benefits of the estradiol patch but then I wouldn’t get a period (yes at 70!).

I beg to differ. I’ve been taking bioidentical hormones since I was 44 (early menopause) with my gynecologist’s approval. I’m 70 now. New studies down play breast cancer risks (flawed original studies) and say there are many benefits taking them for life. @@lizlfranken-desousa7535

Just fyi: collagen can greatly increase the risk of kidney stones for kidney stone formers, so like krytonite for calcium oxylate kidney stone formers. You should include that caution when speaking about that as for those people kidney stone formation and discharge of same is not only severly painful but over the long run can cause CKD and even total loss of kidney function

@@Daisy-xl4xuYou should probably speak to your doctor (one who has a deep familiarity with your medical history) right away and whenever you decide to add or remove a new food item from your diet on a regular basis. Vast majority of kidney stones are formed of calcium oxalate. It is only a minority - maybe 1% that are formed of an amino acid found in collagen. So there is a risk of forming kidney stones by taking collagen but it is very small.

Amazing information as always. Can you please recommend a multivitamin that has all of these instead of taking them individually? Thanks so much ❤
@kellycoffin50524 ай бұрын
A study just came out that showed taking a multi actually shortened your life.
@dramirkaram4 ай бұрын
I don't have a multivitamin recommendation. I get most of these from my varied diet but if you find one make sure to use the guidelines mentioned in the video to find a quality product.

@@kellycoffin5052I wouldn’t trust one observational study. We don’t know if the multi was the cause, people who take a multi may be more likely to be trying to make up for an unhealthy diet, for example.

Which brand collagen as tablet form would you recommend for a 50 year old man? Or won't it make no difference to a 50 year old man now?

This was so helpful and interesting, Dr. Karam. Thank you! Glycine is another great supplement to take at bedtime, as it helps with the production of collagen, and also helps people sleep better! :) Your wife looks beautiful - and thanks for sharing what you both are taking for your supplements. Also, if you're taking biotin and you have labwork coming up, be aware that it will likely impact your thyroid lab levels, making them inaccurate. So it's recommended to stop it a while before those labs.
