My oldest is 2.5 year, so we don't really have any official chores or chore charts in our current stage of life, but I practice "taking him with me" as I go through the day doing housework, including him in starting laundry, asking him to clean up his own toys after playing, giving him the vacuum and letting him vaccum floors since we have a small vacuum that he can use easily. You are so right that it's at the young age that they really want to be helpful!
