One of my fondest memories of my mother is her reading to me. I am now 70 years old (I don’t feel that old on most days 🤣) but when I read to my daughters and then my grandkids, I would recall sitting in Mom’s lap as she read to me ♥️.

I've only been a mum for 2.5 years and currently pregnant with my second but my tips would be: 1. Say sorry to your child when you mess up. 2. When saying no explain why you're saying no so they understand. 3. Try to say yes when you can instead of no just because it might be inconvenient. For example, my toddler loves to get her own cereal/food/do dishwasher and washing and is very independent but of course she takes a lot longer and makes a mess. So what, she's learning and we clean it up together. Just because it's inconvenient for me, it's such great learning for her because one day she won't spill when putting cereal and milk in the bowl. 5. Don't get annoyed about spills and accidents. Nothing worse than spilling something and scared to tell your parent when it was an accident. It happens to us all. Don't make anyone feel bad over an accident that they never intended.

Great additions! And I love one I’ve seen “just add water” I didn’t realise why I would always turn to an early bath when the kids were little but can be things like drinking water, water play or bubbles 😍

This could not be more timely for me. I constantly feel like a bad mother and feel like giving up. My relationship with my 10 year old is so difficult and there are days I feel I can’t cope. We were homeschooling and I had to send him back to school 2 years ago because of my mental health. I feel like God is leading us to it again and I’m trying to follow his voice rather than my fears. Thank you for making this video xx

Same here, my relationship with my 10 yr old is tough tough right now. I feel like a failure often. I keep having to remind myself that God saw everything, and out of 4 billion women, he picked me to be my sons mom. It helps a little. Hugs.

Love this video! I appreciate the practical in the moment tips. Stuff that is realistic. Also want to add a favorite thing of mine- taking a drive. When I am really at my wits end I practically throw my toddlers in the car and go for a drive. Sometimes its long and sometimes its short, but getting out of the house (even with no where to go) has been a great way for me to reset mentally.

Such good simple ideas. As a teacher, we have duties and cleaning procedures that i get caught up in. When a kid asked me to come look at something they did I would say not right now I'm cleaning. But now I'm like I can stop and look at something for 5 seconds right and it's something they're proud of usually.

My oldest is off at university and I keep getting text messages from her, "xxx made me think of you/home", and several have been scent based. She was at breakfast at a friend's apartment who served Red Rose tea and she sent a picture of her cup with the message, tastes like home. The other memory trigger is songs, ones that we sang or listened to on the Google speakers (we have a cleaning playlist to keep our energy up). We will send each other links to videos of the songs as we hear that make us think of the others. My son is in the Army and does this all the time. I love the idea of focusing on activities that we like, and doing those with our kids. I keep buying games so the kids will play with each other and stay busy. I should pull out the puzzles, I love doing them.

The part where you said our ancestors didn’t feel guilty for not playing Legos with their kids really made me cry. Sometimes I feel like a bad mom because I’m busy cooking and cleaning instead of playing with my son as a single mom. It’s hard to find the time to play with your children, I guess I just really needed to hear that it’s OK to focus on cooking and cleaning. Minutes of playtime is OK. Sometimes I just feel so guilty for making an environment that’s clean and functional instead of focusing on play time. Thanks for sharing!

But, alas, I was wrong. What great, practical tips to change the mood, which changes the tone, which makes us all better moms. Way back, idk last fall maybe, you mentioned the word "atmosphere" on one of your videos pretty sure in reference to a candle you liked and it's the first time I'd ever thought of that word in reference to my home. I've been wanting more of this atmosphere talk and you delivered that today.

I love these packages and chapters because they teach me of the mercy and grace I need when dealing with adults. I started laughing out loud when you were talking about opening the windows and listening to the birds, and I was thinking, "Ugh, birds are so loud and annoying" ...and then I laughed even harder when you were describing the Manhattan high rise noises because that's where I live and so often when I'm on the phone with friends from other parts of the country (where birds do tweet outside of their windows), they will ask me, "Where are you? Are you out running errands?" And I'll say, "No, why? I'm at home." Because, as they will inform me, they can hear the traffic, honking horns and sirens through my phone despite the fact that I'm several stories above the ground with all my windows closed, lol and I usually say, "oh sorry I didn't realize there was that much noise." One woman's sirens is another woman's birds. 😂🤣🐦

This video was so helpful. Sometimes just getting it out there and saying it the simple things is such a great reminder when we are caught up in the everyday chores. Take a minute and really connect. I can’t tell u how many times I find my self saying. “Hold on” “not right now” “maybe later” this has really helped me to take the time and reconnect with the kiddos
@ang_131
@ang_131 2 жыл бұрын
On the flip side, I find myself saying “not right now” often when I just need a minute to myself. My kitchen has never been cleaner than since I became a mom. Cleaning up after a meal is a time for me to be mostly child free and just have a few minutes to listen to a podcast and do a mindless menial task. So it’s okay to need a minute to yourself, too. Personally, when my day and mood turn sour, this helps me more than anything else. And when the kitchen is done, I can sit on the floor and play with my kid. Or help her “wash” all the clean dishes. I just need those few minutes. I imagine that’s hard to find with 8 kids. I only have 2 so far.

A thought on what you said near the end of the video: when I find myself wanting someone to change, I ask myself how that person would like me to change. Magically, I rethink this whole change idea.

Okay I just found your channel and I love you!! I’ve honestly never had a role model but I think you are my first one. You do such a great job but are so real! So relatable. I usually don’t like watching home making stuff because peoples lives and routines look flawless and I can’t relate. When you joked about having 8 kids so you didn’t have to play all the time? That actually is a thought I have all the time! I can’t wait till my baby is old enough to play with my 3 yr old because I love them but don’t want to play all day! I want them to play to I can get stuff done 😂

Best video I've seen on this. Just feels like tricks that don't require you to be an amazing person when you feel like crap. 💜💜

Newbie at your channel and first time commenting on one of your videos! First, this video was for me as I was feeling bad for the day of not being the best mama. You touched on so many things that I felt, like not being a flower person ( you even made the face I totally would haha) and you bring a great point about tJ’s being cheap and bei hi g nature inside! I have 3 blessings and would love to look put together like you! The hair, the makeup, the nails ( mine have an attempted nail polish look and on good days theyre chipped from all the dish washing since we don’t have a dishwasher) I also would love to know how people with large families like Yourself are able to afford so much ( in my opinion 😊) I would love to Own a farm and be able to afford all the apps and games and furniture pieces and yeah! ❤
