At the ATA show a few years ago, they had a "Day with the Pros" seminar before the show floor opened, where they brought in several of the top shooters in the game. Every one of them spoke about the proper way to use a hinge release, and they all concurred in saying that the "click" means you are ready to start aiming, and it should happen as you come to anchor. Guy Kruger in the Level 3 US Archery coaching class this January spoke of it as well, suggesting that it is an audible marker of the "transfer to hold" moment in the NTS coaching sequence.

Josh is 100% spot on when you need to get to the click. My UV H2's are set to click as soon as I come off of the thumb pad and settle into my anchor. When I settle in then slightly rotate my back elbow (up and back), the release clicks. Nothing else moves from that point on. Zero reason to have a click any later than this and actually for me, it's a hinderance and side tracks my shot process if it's any later than this.

It's strange how other sports can hinder archery ability. Leaning forward similar to baseball or golf, doesn't lend itself to golf. I think that why it's important to have a coach, Thanks!both of you these videos, they have helped me tremendously. Keep up the good work.

Try a longer click, and set your release slower. Your mind can focus on anchoring without worrying of a misfire. When you come into "set" your click should go off letting you know you're starting at the same place each time. Then your aiming/ fire sequence can begin🤙🏻
@dougbarker47602 жыл бұрын
Chad, I agree 100%. I think Tim has the release set way too hot. Set it colder so that you can draw with equal pressure on all three fingers and not be scared that it's gonna misfire. Then pull to the click at anchor.

I recently got the Hinge 2. I have been shooting a Hinge and a 2 Smooth for a while, but the new Hinge 2 is differently shaped. Its hard to break my habit of drawing mostly with my thumb and index finger. The adjustability of the Hinge 2 with the added magnet is awesome.

TDD!!! I have been growing frustrated with my hinge, because it has taken me too long to aim and fire at longer distances. Going to try getting the click to go off before/when I anchor like you suggested. That seems to be my issue, I get tired and out of oxygen and then make a crappy shot.

It's the small details that together ( lol) will make anyone a better archer. I know as I've become older ( 72) the breathing part is vital. Something that is often overlooked and not mentioned much is " being in archery shooting " shape. Usually, for young people that's not much of an issue for a few arrows. But as you continue to shoot arrow after arrow in the yard or indoors not being in archery shape shows up fast. This was a good video for sure.

I recently swapped from a wrist style release to a hinge and I’m having a hard time with back tension. If you could include some back tension tips in the hinge video that would be awesome!
@stephenwofford66672 жыл бұрын
Great pointers in this video. Would really recommend checking out Chris Bee’s latest video talking about the hinge 2 or George Ryals video that talks about getting to the click on your release. The click should set as you hit your anchor point instead of simply rotating to the click.

A lot of people use the click to let them know that they've settled their back they're loaded up on tension they're on anchor come to anchor load Lower the back shoulder load the tension click and begin then begin to pull through the shot it's all like one motion once you get it down and don't take with maybe 3 to 5 To fire the shot but I shoot more of a relaxed index finger and just let the injure roll I do not Rotate the hinge myself I kind of Anchor drop my shoulder to the click and then I just start relaxing my 1st finger ray up in the shot fires George riles is really good

The breathing thing goes out the window when you are hunting. Just no way to do a breath sequence when you have just walked up a hill. Is there something we can do while breathing heavy?. Would like the advise as I find my form goes out the window in this situation. I just aim and hit the trigger. Thanks

I don't agree with jump to the click deal. The click I find is most helpful when you find your anchor and have the starting back tension required for your shot process and once you are anchored and are about to begin aiming it clicks and that becomes your baseline for aiming

I'm not trying to critique anything. But it seems to me that there was a little flinch or something that was going on on the release in the last 2d shoot. I think that if you were shooting a thumb your score would have been a lot better.

Stacked posture is nice however if you do not learn to relax enough to take out the excess muscle tension in the body from the feet on up your body you will be like the people who pass out while standing at attention.
