What are angels and can I see them?

I personally am an example of a premortal angelic manifestation! Before I was born my grandmother was on her death bed and she had a dream in which I visited her and told that she would not have to wait much longer and that I would be born before she passed away. 3 days later I was born and she saw me for the first and last time in this life when I was 1 day old.

Mary Hildreth. I agree with Brett Majeske. I want more details from you to understand from where you come. What Brett wrote is 100% correct. Here are more details. Brett described the spirits who are angels. God can use beings with physical bodies as angels. An example of that is when the priesthood was restored John the Baptist, Peter, James, and John were resurrected and translated physical beings. After Final Judgement people who are married in the way God requires will be ministering angels for those worthy of a greater glory.

@@jisharresendiz3336 Well we learn from the D&C that Michael was the premortal Adam and Gabriel was the premortal Noah. There is speculation that Raphael or Uriel could be Abraham or Moses, but there is no official confirmation. Several Apostles in the late 1800's and early 1900's speculated that the seven arch-angels of Hebrew lore correspond to the first Prophet of each dispensation, but again that is just personal opinions. There really doesn't seem to have been much new speculation in the last 100 years.

Not necessarily. Jesus raised several from the dead. The first resurrection refers to being resurrected and having our body and spirit eternally connected, never to be separated again, and to dwell in heaven. God can send individuals as spirits (premortaly or post mortaly) or as angels as he chooses. It just changes how exactly they interact with us.

It doesn't feel like you answered the question. What is an angel? Please note that DC 76:25 says that Lucifer is an angel of God. Not glorified, not really sent as a messenger from God.

Shawn Larrabee. That verse is saying that before he fell away and was kicked out of heaven, Lucifer was an angel. He was a spirit child of God living with God who God, maybe, sent on errands.

We are told many times about angels in the bible. They are the beings closest to God, created by God, and above that of humans. They do not die like humans; they are eternal. Their names end in "el" which means "of God". They have several functions - that of warriors, like Michael, messengers, like Gabriel, and guides, like Raphael. When they appear to people on earth, they take on a earthly body but their bodies are clearly described in Revelation, that being a spiritual looking presence, with four sides, three sets of wings, and several faces. We are also told that when we are resurrected, we will have the bodies of angels, which makes sense because we will no longer need an earthly body in our resurrected state. How wonderful!
