In Jujutsu Kaisen we have had a couple of moments where we would witness a character get pushed to their utmost limits in battle and due to this, transcend them. Reaching or obtaining a power beyond their normal capacity. These moments seem to be portrayed as an awakening, evolution, transcension or something like that for the respective character they center upon & in this video, that's exactly what we'll be going over. From Gojo, to Yuji, to potentially Sukuna.. I'll be performing a little bit of analysis on these awakenings & the implications behind them as well. With that said, let's get into it.

You missed Maki as another character who awakened. Her awakening looks different because of her heavenly restriction, but I'm sure she awakened when she almost died and when Mai (who's technically a part of her) died. Just like Gojo or even Mahito, it's like she was reborn as a different person back then. And I'd argue her awakening kinda happened in 2 parts, and really became complete when she finally got used to her new body and killed the last member of her clan.

Black flashes come from the awakening through a not the other way around you can awaken without a black flash as seen with Mahito and Gojo. It is when you grasp that core of cursed energy, that Death and Rebirth are one. That through experiencing death you can change oneself to become stronger. It is a state of egolessness that allows oneself to be changed and reformed.

Yuji can use black flash because he understands Death because he has died. He understands the soul and how it can be manipulated and changed and how impermanent humans are.

This has led him to a sense of at one time hopelessness and oneness with the world becoming a cog in for good or ill. Yuji has been slowly dying this entire series and soon he will resurrect. The turning of the wheel of the Dharmachakra represents death and rebirth Mahoraga adapts because he is “Reborn” and changes himself into something better.

Dude, your music choice for your videos are IMMACULATE From how Gojo and Yuji's Awakening being music that is just hyped, locked in and just overall being badass, to Mahito's music being also badass but fitting more of a Villian, rather than our Hero's Gojo and Yuji. Then finally, when you're talking about Sukuna's and Tengen's "awakenings" it's very Ominous. Ominous because we don't really know much about these characters, why they look the way they do. Who was taught how to use her new body by two different opponents And others like choso and Megumi Specifically sorcorers if create nrw techniques on the fly by imagining a stronger technique. Like when Megumi learns his domain for the first time Or When Choso improvises new techniques against Kenjaku and even creates a Maximum technique with the bird wings

Thank you Hundred.🔥🐐 I agree awakening aren't just "power ups", I believe Yuji had achieved an awakening in Shibuya, Yuji accepting that he is just like Mahito and a calamity to all curses just like how Mahito is to humans represents a mindset change and shows the level of understanding of self that Yuji had achieved and coming to terms with his nature and why he exists even going as far as calling himself a cog in the mechanism of the Jujutsu world later on, his cog mindset might be the reason as to why he hits black flashes seemingly at will, as the sparks flashed by Yuji's ideals grinding apon an already rusted and crumbling mechanism shine hope apon said crumbling mechanism and casts despair apon the future of curses. Awakenings in JJK seem to bring characters to self reflect on thier nature understand it, accept it and achieve a greater understanding of thier essence, elevating their sense of self, bringing forth an indomitable will and mindset also reflected through their cursed energy and application of their technique. I think awakenings is them understanding deeper a fundamental workings of cursed energy and jujutsu itself, even if temporary. A mindset thing. It’s like when buddha attained enlightenment and knew all and became one with all. Mindset is so important in jjk. I genuinely believe awakenings are all based upon both a power up and mindset shift. I like to look at it like Maki and how she had two different awakenings but only one was a legitimate power up. The other was grasping her own innate talent and understanding she’s not like everyone else and it’s not enough to be like everyone else. Where Yuji is at in the story right now, he has the power of course…but not the proper mindset. Which is why I believe Todo is reappearing. To give Yuji that proper mindset.

My theory is you awaken once you’ve passed your limits with cursed energy. The reason gojo is unique is he already understands normal cursed energy but he doesn’t understand rct whole for others they don’t understand cursed energy nearly as well but once they do they awaken.
