Have you ever come to an F45 class and spotted a station that made you go, "What the heck!?" Don't worry - you're not alone. We see a lot of exercises in F45 that would challenge even the fittest and most experienced exercisers. That's where exercise modifications come in.
Exercise modifications refer to adjusting one or more variables of an exercise, most commonly to decrease its complexity or difficulty to better align with your body and current fitness levels. These are known as regressions and they reduce your risk of injury and overtraining as you build strength and skill gradually. On the flip side, modifications can also be used to challenge you by making an exercise more difficult when you're ready to advance. These are known as progressions.
Ultimately, exercise modifications are there to help you be successful in your workouts and make each exercise as effective and beneficial for you as possible. So, don't be shy about asking our coaches for regressions or progressions in class - that’s part of our job.
