What are Fractals?

Since I discuss fractals in all my videos I just thought it would be fitting to make sure everyone knows what a fractal is and how to spot a fractal. Your trading software should include fractals as an indicator.

W D Gann used several tools and Fractal Reversals was one of the concepts used with his swing market hypothesis and Elliott Wave uses fractals to count waves so you see the importance of fractals. Thanks for watching and God bless!

I've just been trading the slower Asian markets with the USDJPY and between this video and his ICHIMOKU video....i was able to close out a 39.1 PIP move in 63 minutes, using the 15-min charts for Trend and the 1-min chart for seeing when it started to RANGE. You are a great teacher Chaos yesterday I took the day to observe using the fractal indicator, because of your videos. I was looking for a indicator to reacted quickly to the price action on the chart. I am really impressed how the fractal worked it was like coping and paste depending of the direction like clockwork. I was waiting to enter GBP/USD to short using the fractional indicator. What was amazing to me how FAST I determined to Sell 8/15/13 13:37 15m chart ((WOW)) I also had the Parabolic with the cloud. Printed my chart so I can review and make notes what a show. Gosh to ride up that huge candle then reverse for a short ride hahaa my light bulb came on I felt confident. I now feel comfortable trading FX for the first time. Oh I used the RSI 70/30 rule. FX is so much fun now I always liked it tho ;-D

Chaos: At the video time of 3:18 minutes: I appreciate your analogy regarding the palm and fingers describing the aspect of fractals. This could be understood in a jiffy, where as one would need to think a little harder in respect to this. I believe this is tantamount to sloping minor trend lines where the wicks/pinheads need to be taken into consideration.

I have never heard of this indicator before. It was quite interesting. I think it would work very well along with RSI or moving average. For my trading I only use these two indicators as using too many indicators can harm your peaceful trading system. I will definitely gonna try this indicator in my AAFX’s demo account. I am sure I will get this on my mt4 platform. Thank you for sharing this video.

Fractals have no bearing or association with RSI, MA’s or even VWAP. Fractals are simply a ‘picture’ of price movements. I found all the other stuff just creates perceptions that I want to see. Learning to read candles under construction is as close to real as it can be. Time and Sale with Level 2 quotes is also important to understand and they’re no transparent either.

5 Candle formation is like a Midfinger in that Fractal circumstance for which there is also the Midfinger-Strategy. And the 3Bar ....there's a 3Bar-Play and a 4Bar-Play Strategy as well, right!!

Over years of trading professionally, I've reduced my strategy to just finding a divergence, then a fractal in the direction of that divergence. I quit support/resistance, or even paying attention to the overall trend. My win rate is between ~63-75% evefy month.

If you do a fractal indicator mt4 search on google you'll find a bunch of them. I use to trade the mt4 platform and had fractals so you can find some online. Usually it's included in the platform. If your platform indicators has a "Williams indicators" section then usually it's located under that heading. Hope you find some you like. Thanks and GOD BLESS!

For a bullish fractal, I don't even wait for a 2nd higher high after the "middle" candle. After that middle candle, all I need is just one bullish candle, and for the formation to be part of a bullish divergence on either the MACD or Cipher B. Thats it, dead simple. I make a living just on that.

Hi. Yes the RSI & the CCI don't lag and should be used as a pair to determine the direction of the market. Any time frame will do.

Combinations of 2 or 3 indicators,when properly understood each can give very good indications about when to get in or out.Of course there will be times when it does not work ,but generally any system can work just fine when it is applyed according to rules(that' s the ones we determine as working condition rules)@JElayne

Just going over some comments on the channel. This is an old comment but just want to make sure people know that fractals do not lag. Fractals require 5 bars and then 2 bars on each side of the fractal. When the candle opens and it fits the criteria, the fractal is shown. At the close of the candle, if the critaria is not met then the fractal was never developed. A fractal either is or isn't.......period. No re-painting or lagging.

I thought Williams' taught that fractals ABOVE price were bullish and you used that high point as your entry if price exceeds the high of that fractal? However I can see this is play is capitalizing on the pullback waiting for the bar that exceeds the high of the fractal. I would your system intra-fractal trading. Bill Williams taught trade the breakout of a fractal. You seem to suggest trading BETWEEN fractals.

Bill Williams' concept of fractals is not really what a fractal represents in the markets. Fractals are not an indicator, it's an abstract concept that can be applied to the market derived from chaos theory.

You have not understood what fractals are. They are not pivot points, rather they are higher highs and lower low levels that can be broken. What you show as a bearish fractal is indeed the opposite, you take a buy past that HH breakout.
