I bought a pre 64 model 94 made in 1956 this summer for $295 from its original owner who put one round though it and put it in a leather Sears and Roebuck gun bag where it sat for for 64 years. It’s in incredible shape. The rifling and bluing as well as the wood are like new. I was offered $1800 for it. I am keeping it to hunt with and will give it to my grandson. It carries like a piece of luggage. One of my favorite firearms.

Heres another example of taking a superb example of a rifle virtually brand new and running into the woods with it. Why not take a well used rifle in there instead, and keep the beauty for beauties sake? By the way it sounds like you robbed the guy you bought it from and didnt give him a fair price.
@Bmuenks31
@Bmuenks31 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelbrett3749 The guy didn't use it but for one shot so it wouldn't really matter since he wouldn't have used it very much anyways, after 64 years and only one shot you might as well just give it away for free because at that point its just taking up space in your house

I have always tryed to keep a supply of ammo on hand. But after the first run on ammo. I decided every time I bought a new or new to me gun even if it was in a cal. I already have. I would add the price of 200 to 500 rounds of ammo for it into the price before I made up my mind to buy it. I don't regret that at all.

Reloading gear is worth it's weight in gold. Especially if, like me, you have a love of these fantastic old rifles. Often in obsolete calibers but it's so satisfying to bring back to life an old rifle that may not have been fired for a hundred years.

I know of your video on the model 14 (I asked for a video on a Sjögren, thinking it was quite a feat to get a hold of one. I saw the video and it was spectacular), but I was wondering if a model 14 with its original sights tapped out and replaced with the aftermarket tang sights of its time, specifically made for the gun, would be worth collecting. It is in mint condition (but not with its original sights)- tang sights were from factory. Also Happy New Years! Your videos are most educational and entertaining :) To clarify, is it worth collecting guns like that and buying the gun I described?

Great bunch of rifles. I especially like the mini sharps. I may have to try to get one of those later on. I kind of look at each piece in my collection, as I am the caretaker right now, of each one, and I am enjoying them and taking the best care of them as I can, at this point in time. When time comes that I fade off into the sunset, then other people will become caretakers, of the pieces that I have enjoyed, collected, and tried to preserve.

Your videos just enthral Me , if they lasted two hours and were filmed on VHS I'd still be watching . I really like them all , but the cartridge videos and those on the smaller calibres interest Me most , It would be nice if Chiappa (or any of those on the table really ) did one in a really modern cartridge like 5.7 x 28 , looking like the Sharps or as they do , maybe even the Little Badger version for those who need that sort of thing .That Baby Hagen is beautiful but I think it would look even prettier with a Schnabel stock and in something like 5.7 X 28 I could imagine it would be a really useful thing . I should imagine I could talk to You for days and months about everything firearm and I'd waffle on & on . Thank You to You & Your Team . Shoot Straight Stay Safe & Stay Well .

Beautiful rifles along with a plethora of good information for people to keep in mind when looking for their firearms area of interest. When it comes to collecting firearms or buying guns I think it is important for a person to consider what their firearms collecting philosophy is. Once a person has identified their philosophy they can then target guns that pique their interest. So if a person likes "best" guns then they can target those types of guns. Same with black powder rifles, lever actions, etc. But of course finances play a role as well. A person who doesn't have a lot of money, but likes "best" rifles may end up with only 1 or 2 guns. Another person with the same means, but has the philosophy of as many guns as they can get may end up with 14 guns for the same amount of spending. Neither philosophy is wrong, and both guns owners are happy with the guns they acquired. My other big piece of advice is for a person to keep a list of guns that they would like to get. I find that this helps to keep one focused on acquiring guns that they like, and not what ads, salesman, and gun magazines say they should be liking or buying. Thank you for the videos and have a Happy New Year!!!

Mike, your observations about the smaller calibers in the same barrel weighing more are essentially what I heard Craig Boddington say about Winchester M-70 Safari guns in 375/458. He advised both were made from the same barrel but because less steel was removed from the 375H&H, it weighed more and that weight helped reduce the recoil. I've got one and the 270/300g rounds feel more like a good shove, not as sharp as a 300WinMag. I've also shot one in 458WinMag, argh... Not fun! Anyways, I was reminded of his remarks when you made your statement. Great minds, I guess! Take care!

You could get them $200-300 before the big rush on guns came on. And it was the same for the ruger 77 but there getting close two 500-600$ now. A local shop has a Remington 700 in 270 it has a jeweled bolt not sure on the year guessing it’s only nothing like the new rifles they make. If I had to guess it’s a 70s-90s they want 600$ for it with a junk scope. Is this a good deal? Or do I wait and look for another brand with a possible better and smoother bolt.

If you already have a lightweight rifle, making another is a backward step. Nothing will devalue one like customising it to one person. Especially a rare one. There is a possibility of shearing the firing pin on a Sharps rifle if it is not put on half-cock before opening the action. I believe that is mentioned in the instruction booklet. Thank you for sharing, highly appreciated.👍 I’m older, but I’ve never seen such rifles; it’s interesting, leaned a lot. Many Asia countries/areas have strict restrictions of guns, except North Korea, Taiwan maybe the strictest in the world, especially the young people may just know military rifles which are similar to the series of M16 in military training courses; absolutely no individual is allowed to buy any kinds of legal real guns, there’s no legal guns can be bought, even some toy guns & knives are not allowed; hunting is prohibited; if there’s against, would be put in jail for many years or endless, similar to martial law implemented period; millions people asked government to open, just shotgun & hunting, but got denied, reasons such as toppling government, sniping officials, society security and animals protection; also there are many anti-guns people & Buddhist in Taiwan, they don’t like people own gun or hunting, they said animals right equal to human right, now expending to plants, I don’t know what can be food; also those people don’t know how hard to do farming, especially Buddhist gets donations, they don’t know how hard to earn money; many wild animals reproduced a lot, getting pest, hurting farming, but no individual is allowed to buy legal guns to do pest control, people got suffered or hurt by wild animals, even got died, no compensation, can not hurt or disturb wild animals, just unlucky; many people think that won’t be opened forever, will be strict ruled continuously. You do have real freedom, please keep promoting. Have a nice season, happy new year.🎆🎈🎊

Happy New Year Tony - I truly hope things improve in Taiwan. I appreciate all your letters. I think I mentioned to you how confining the airport was in Taipei. Beautiful mural though - maybe gone now but I hope not. Also I hope for peace in your country. No winners in wars - only losers.

@@UnitedStatesOfGuns Thank you for response. Some people are struggling to get open the civil use, perhaps may have chance, laws got a little bit improved, but progress is slow. The most of people’s daily life are good as usual, just something messy, people don’t like it; also they are seeking for a way to solve problems, not fighting face to face, won’t be quickly; but hope better future. Thank you for your help, highly appreciated.

Yeah I sold about 7 rifles at auction a year ago to make my collection a little more manageable. Will these little pangs of regret go away or get worse. Think I'm gonna be buried with the rest.

Hi - I don't know. I wish I had something to do with post production or filming but I have no time. Please let me know what 480 is and what is better. Maybe I can convince someone. Thanks for the note.

As the Federal reserve and governments all over the world keep printing money hand over fist, these magnificent rifle from the golden era of gun making will only go up in value. My relatively small collection has proven to be an excellent hedge against inflation and more.

That's 100% - the value of each printed dollar reduces the value of every other printed dollar. Glad you have a collection.
