A brace of sweet slightly older 1911's. The blue 70 Series is a 70's gun, unfired in the wood grain box. And a super high-polish stainless Gold Cup National Match. Man! It IS shiny. This gun can't possibly have had a full box of shells run through it--just zero wear marks inside. It's an 80 series gun but someone has done some most EXCELLENT trigger work on it. I only have a couple of guns that have a trigger that feel like that proverbial tiny glass rod breaking and this SHINING example is one of them. I'm still 10 yrs old on some level, cuz I LIKE shiny! Both of these Colts have found a home. Thanks, guys for another great one.

The guns become collector's items usually after the company has experienced enough regime changes to run the company into the ground...Colt and Winchester are prime examples..

Can you do a video on re-blued reconditioned guns? How can you tell the difference? When do you re-blue and when to leave alone? More regarding keeping firearm in good condition.

I have a S&W model 19 6 inch barrel from late 60's (.357 tack driver) that has almost tripled in value since I purchased it. Beautiful pistol!

Recently purchased a near mint Springfield 1911 Garrison for $500. Had a light scuff on the trigger guard that the previous owner just couldn't live with buffed right out.

I think this was one of the best segments ever. Bobby Tyler is one of the best or not the best with his products. The one gun i bought as an investment was a Winchester Model 70 safari grade in 458 Winchester. Ok I will never hunt Africa but it is the most beautiful stocked rifle i have in my collection. I watched it at a local gun store for over 1500. Went in and it was marked down to 599. Could not get the wallet out fast enough! I have shot it, has the safari sights, dut installed the 1-4 Leupold. and i reload for it. Probably 50 rounds ran downrange, But as the episode was about, investing when the price is right. Got lucky on that one! Also got the big bore 94 in 375 in the box with papers never fired. Those days seem to be over now finding gems at a reasonable price but it was fun while it lasted. Keep up the great stories.

Thanks for the video! On the advice of a friend I actually bought a 29-3 off TGW. It’s all original and love it. I like keeping all my revolvers original and enjoy them the way they came from the factory. My most recent purchase was a Model 19-3 with target hammer and trigger. Only thing missing was the target stocks. No wear on bluing and very slight cylinder ring. The local gun store knocked off 100 beans, then gave me another hundo in store credit. I got it for 475! Was very happy with that.

The rifle sitting on the .30-.30 ammo boxes had a tubular magazine that looked like it would load .22LR not .30-.30 :) Pretty though :) Lately... I've been building AR's. My collectables, if I have any, will be guns I bought new in the late 70's and 80's or the guns I inherited from my dad, the oldest has a 1901 date on it.

And like antiques, buy what you like. That way even if the value drops, you have something you will enjoy and/or use, and if you are lucky the market will swing in your favour in the future.

Hey Caleb and Steve, love your Quick Tips. Off your current subject, Caleb I noticed on " your new hotness " that you have a PDQ lever. I would love for you to do a video on exactly how to install that bad boy, and get it to work smoothly. I recently installed one on my latest build and it jams in the slot and won't always function properly. Any suggestions?

Awww, to hell with guns as an investment. Would you have an investment set of screwdrivers, or an investment claw hammer that you can't hit a nail with? I understand though, I've got a couple of pieces that I've retired out of sentimental reasons. But I wouldn't sell them for the world , so they're priceless to me.

A recent investment of mine was a S&W model 19-2 pinned & recessed with a 4 inch barrel in nickel finish that is 95% or better. I picked it up $725 & the way the early Smiths have been appreciating I figured that was a good buy & a good investment.

You simply can't go wrong with a Remington R51, any of the Lorcin pistols or any of the collector grade Mitchell's Mausers offerings. And for something more 'important', a 24k gold plated Micro Draco will become both a cherished family heirloom as well as an amazing financial watershed for your posterity.
