Thank you for this helpful and informative video! I'm so glad there are actually "healthy" fats, and all the foods you mentioned look great to eat. But I've always been worried about cholesterol levels - do these healthy fats still raise the bad LDL cholesterol levels?
@Fitfatherproject6 жыл бұрын
Hi Nicole78, A big part of cholesterol is genetically based, so it's tough to say on an individual basis. But for a rule of thumb: health fats improve cholesterol. A high sugar diet will raise cholesterol. I've now removed all vegetable oils from our household apart from olive and coconut. I try and keep olive oil consumption as low as possible as there's still some controversy about the inflammatory aspect of consuming any oils at all. Luckily I have a whole food supplier in the UK where I buy huge bags of mixed organic omega 3 seeds (hemp, chia, flax etc) and avocado's are more readily available than banana's now! I would love to eat more wild salmon but it's very expensive here (I think most of it comes from the Pacific/Alaska so mileage is high to Europe. Luckily we're surrounded by mackerel most of the year!

Sugar is the #1 issue in the American diet and #2 is processed foods, not good fats. Don't fear carbs either. A few years back I did the keto diet but felt it wasn't sustainable due to the extremely low carb intake. Low fat nutrition plans left me with constant cravings. Many people consume too much protein, balance is key. Healthy fat from sources listed in this video with good carbs is the way to go for me. My favorite carbs are sweet potatoes and fruits. Most vegetables have very few carbs and calories so cooking them in a healthy oil is essential for me. Makes them taste great, too. Brussel sprouts are so good when sauteed correctly. There are tutorials on youtube for cooking about anything these days.

Could you elaborate on joint lubrication? My husband’s knees could use the advice. Ty
@Fitfatherproject3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jay, thanks for writing in and great question! When we consume healthy fats, like those mentioned in this video, specifically ones higher in Omega 3 Fatty Acids, we have the ability to help reduce inflammation factors in our joints. There is something called Synovial Fluid that helps lubricate our joints and being overweight, inactive, and simple aging can cut down on this protection whereas consuming these healthy fats can help mitigate this problem, keeping our joints healthy. -The FFP Team

@Fitfatherproject2 жыл бұрын
Hey David, thanks for writing in and great question! Peanut Oil has some redeeming qualities being higher in Vitamin E and monounsaturated fats though it is higher in Omega 6s and our standard diet is quite high in Omega 6s. And too much O6 can lead to inflammation. For other alternatives, you can find great info here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJ6cl3mbmJ6ZjsU -The FFP Team

Hey Adam, thanks for writing in and great question! Trans fat can be classified into natural and artificial. The Trans fat found from beef/dairy is natural and is not as harmful as the artificial Trans fat found in baked goods, for example. The latter is definitely one to stay away from while the former is more OK in moderation. -The FFP Team

Parts of this were incredibly informative, however, I understand everyone needs to make money but the fact that you said “you do not need to worry about calories” is extremely concerning, also I hope you are an actual doctor and did not just buy scrubs and wore a stethoscope just to look more credible.
@Fitfatherproject2 жыл бұрын
@Radarada - I am indeed an actual Doctor. My wording around not needing to worry about calories is focused at our core demographic, where many of our audience need to lose 50-100 lbs. At that stage, portion control is a much easier approach to take than worrying about strict calorie and/or macro monitoring. We use a method at the FFP called the Perfect Plate, where portions of Protein, Carbs, Veggies, and healthy Fats are suggested for 3 main meals and 1 snack if necessary. This works very well for a majority of our audience and takes away the stress of monitoring calories.
