The idea of our muscles acting like rubber bands that build up energy when we stretch and contract the muscles quickly really helped me understand plyometrics and the benefits of Plyometric training

Your visual explanation using the long jump example was great. It’s clear how launching from the right angle can help increase distance

I like how you summed it up in an easy to understand video and how the book's idea of a long jump is wrong. But that is cool how this whole thing has to be fast otherwise it doesn't matter all that much and is lost as heat.

its really cool to me how the neuromuscular system works. not only are there conscious muscular movement in the SSC, but there are subconscious movements going on that we dont even control

Potentiation is so fascinating. If I I’m understanding it correctly I think we did this when we were learning the snatch in class by shrugging the shoulders and then performing the exercise.

It was very interesting how if 2 people with the same body mass were to perform a vertical jump. The one who can squat more in comparison to their body mass will probably jump higher because they are able to utilize the stretch shortening cycle better.

Thank you again Dr.jacob it is very informative lecture. I have a remark on the amortization phase , the figure shows the whole sole of the foot on the ground, while in the explanation state that this phase must be kept short..landing on the sole delay the time. In depth jumps the touch is very minimal. How can we combine these matters ? Regards ..
