This video cleared up a lot of confusion that I have had about using supplements for athletic performance. It helped to hear about a lot of the legal and illegal substances contrasted in a single video by someone who definitely knows what he is talking about. It is hard to sift through the fake news that most of the products put out when selling their products.

I was interested in learning about growth hormone because I didn't realize how involved it is in adults, not just in the development of children.

It was cool to learn that even one lifting session a week can be enough to upregulate the receptors for testosterone. This is encouraging for people that are just getting into weight lifting and feel overwhelmed by the pressure of having to go every day once they start. It shows that it is ok to start small and something it better than nothing!

This was a great video explaining the primary anabolic hormones. I have always had a hard time remembering all of the hormones along with each of their effects, so I found this video very helpful. I also found it interesting to learn about the comparison of the effects of hormones among men and women.

This was a great video explaining hormones and how they interact with muscles. It's so interesting that the different levels of hormones change during exercise, and we can use this information to train even better.

This video did a great job at explaining the effects of aids and dietary supplements. I liked how you explained not only the legal substances, but illegal substances as well. It's definitely important to talk to a health care professional before using aids and dietary supplements.

I think this is crazy. It is impressive how much Chat can do. Obviously the interpersonal relationship you get with a trainer is invaluable though. Glad there's some job safety in that

I appreciate the importance of emphasis that these are intended to supplement the diet and not become the diet. The initial statement that good sleep, low stress, recovery and other controllable conditions will have more effect than supplements.

It was very interesting coming back to this video from structural kinesiology. With all of the other kinesiology classes I have completed, I now have a better understanding of the fundamentals of movements and how the muscles in our body support these movements.

I have heard before about the boost of serum testosterone concentration from complex movements as well as near max (when appropriate) lifts. I'm glad to hear that these things are true as well as what those things can help us to do as well as how to balance these things for ourselves and others.

This was so helpful! It felt really applicable in ways that we can utilize the levels of hormones to maximize training potential.
@LukeMoore-cx4iz7 сағат бұрын
I agree. I never thought about how the levels of hormones can be a tool that can benefit training sessions.

I thought it was so cool that our hormones respond to the way that we are training as well as hearing more details about the effects of steroid hormones on the body. Additionally how it would be advantageous for male athletes to train in the morning due to the peak in testosterone as they wake up.

I agree!

I really enjoyed this video! It is always helpful to hear it stated out this way to think through what things I or someone I train in the future may be highlighting or what may be staying in the shadows. By staying to the basics which it all stems from we can better program a more full strength and conditioning program with push pull (vertical & horizontal), hinge, lunge, squat, brace, and locomotion. So stoked to implement these things better!

I really like how hormones can work with that "lock and key" technique, how they can only bind when the receptors fit and can accommodate them. I just think it is so cool how our bodies were crafted so meticulously to have these hormones and receptors fit so perfectly.
@trinityhanson38128 сағат бұрын
I totally agree, it is so cool how intricate these processes are and what steps must be followed for these things to work properly
@jakebergherm27868 сағат бұрын
I think the lock and key mechanism makes this whole concept graspable. it would be crazy if it was multiple receptors for each hormone.

@NathanHanson-gt2kq12 сағат бұрын
There's so many and they each play a crucial role! Crazy
@trinityhanson381213 сағат бұрын
So crazy how in depth it can go now. But with these things in mind, as you stated, we need to remember and prioritize the value of having an actual coach working with an athlete since AI is only able to know what the individual is inputting, and that isn't always fully true especially when talking about keeping up with goals, training, size, weight, caloric intake etc. I will always value real people training over ai but it is also important to remember that it can be a tool to find information which we should double check, but is useful never the less.

I found it insightful to learn about the intricacies of the performance enhancement world and the difference between the two categories, 1. hormones and 2. dietary supplements. Crazy to see the role testosterone and its synthetic derivatives (anabolic steroids) play in athletic performance and strength training. Also, love to know a whey protein can deliver BCAA's on top of other amino acids.

I think it was most interesting to learn about caffeine intake. Watching the video and reading the chapter and seeing that a recommendation to receive benefits of caffeine is 3mg/kg -9 mg/kg within 60 minutes prior to workout shows benefit but for example, using someone that is 68 kgs, thats between 204 and 612 mg of caffeine in a 60 minute time period which seems widely dangerous considering max caffeine intake per day should really not exceed 400mg. How does this work with what the book is saying?
