When I was 12 a brain surgery left me with a lazy eye. My eyes would strain to see one image and my eyes would be blood red from the strain. In my late 30's I received prism glasses. I put them on and it felt like my eye muscle was being massaged. It was instant relief. Had two eye surgeries but still have a lazy eye.

We have had many who came to us after several surgeries and finally got the alignment they were after. It would have been better not to have surgery in the first place, but we might still be able to help. You are welcome to schedule a consultation if you wish to explore it further. Thanks for being here!

@@visontherapy Saw an eye doctor and he said no prism is strong enough to fix my lazy eye. Finally an honest doctor, super hard to find. He prescribed me bifocals with prisms in them. They do make a big difference pain wise. This is just what I get but no problem. I'm not looking for a date.

You are a gift to optometry students (especially for my class, because our teacher is never around to give us demonstrations like these). Thank you!

Great info for my current situation. I'm seeing a vision therapist for my divergence insufficiency that prescribed some base up 3 therapy glasses for me, but the glasses are causing a severe skewing of lines when I rotate my head left/right, and flat surfaces are round. The therapist doesn't have their own glasses department, so I had these filled at my normal eye dr. That dr said the skewing is because of the prisms and that he shouldn't be using base up but should be using base out. However, when they put temporary prisms over my glasses to remove the base up, objects were still rotating/skewing in my vision when moving my head, so I suspect the lenses just weren't made right. I'm at a loss now, because the therapist said it shouldn't be distorting the image, but the other dr said that's why it's distorting, and I only get one chance to remake. My normal dr wants to add base out to them, my therapist I'm sure does not (I guess I'll be visiting him again to be sure).

I work in a rural community with little access to proper health care, but i need your advise on how to help my patient with decompensated left hypophoria and attendant double vision . Can i use vertical prism in opposite direction to train his vertical vergence and horizontal prism to increase in horizontal vergence. Is bunt ball useful for such cases, and what kind of vectograph or tranaglyphs would you recommend? He is doing well with prisms for corrections but the double vision has returned after two years of adaptation.

I have been wearing yoked prisms in borrowed loops from my Dr since November to help align my eyes and just got my own pair of yoked prisms in regular frames but my brain does not like them even though it is the same prescription... why is that? Why would my brain overreact so much just to this change? Side note I have an mTBI, misaligned eyes, my mTBI is from illness and the yoked prisms are helping my immune system nervous system and brain symptoms so much.

My Dr told me I needed prisms because in the machine I saw double but I don't see double otherwise. He prescribed a 3 and said I technically needed a 10. The images were not touching vertically. I thought maybe the machine needed adjusted because how can it be that bad if I don't see double normally? I got a second opinion and in their machine the images were overlapping about 2/3 and she told me to sit back and blink and I did and I looked at my hand close up and my eyes cleared so when I looked back in the machine it wasn't double anymore but she still was going to prescribe me a prism with 2 dioptres. I spoke to an opthalmologist office and they said if I don't see double when I'm not looking in the machine then I shouldn't have prisms because they're only for people that see double. I have no idea where to go but I know I refuse to get prisms if I don't see double and have no other complaints.

Dr.. thanks for the video. Would you have tested contoured prism lens like Neurolens? I seem to be a perfect match for trigeminal dysphoria with symptoms like dry eye eyes, eye strain, headaches, neck pain etc. wanted your opinion of prism lens have helped anyone with this case.

Not a fan of prisms due to its long-term tendency to worsen vision.

Hi Julie! I’ve been having double vision for over a year. My eye doctor just prescribed me prism lenses. Should I be doing vision therapy before ever starting to wear prism lenses??

Hi Audry if you want to restore natural vision without stronger and stronger prescriptions then yes. Please note not all therapy is created equal. Thanks for your question.

I'm starting to think it is mental muscle control. Like eye posture. Wouldn't use surgery to correct someone's slouched posture. I can move my eyes easily to every point in their socket. But together they tend to converge. I know the muscle can move the eyes out. Its default zone isn't that for whatever reason. So shortening a muscle thats fully capable of shortening itself just seems like a hack.

Resolving the underlying visual defect through advanced vision therapy. By resolving why you need the prisms to start with, the crutch becomes obsolete, and you not only avoid wearing clunky lenses that are likely to increase but also actually have better vision without it.

What happens if prisms dont work and one eye is different then the other eye and the doctor wants to use the same prisms for both eyes
@visontherapy
@visontherapy Жыл бұрын
Hi Tanja, They often don’t work long term. But what happens is that the prescription increases more and more due to accommodation; Which is obviously not good. Eventually people realize they need a better solution and then they come to us for a more long term solution.

The problem I see with vision therapy (VT) is that is can take a long time to correct the vision and it costs a lot of money. Also, most insurances do not cover it. Having said all that, I understand that prism glasses may be considered a bandaid and that you will eventually need a stronger power. Ok, so now that we know both methods suck, what other choice do we have? None?

Not a fan. We work to get people out of them and not into them. I don't even think that most people who use them are fans either other than the fact that they dont know they have better alternatives.
