In Australia my favourites specifically regarding aesthetic and hardiness, are Pigs face, my dog uses it as a mattress and it still survives. Myoporium, a fast growing native, very pleasing to the eye, but once it gets older becomes somewhat woody. And slender knotweed, also a native which grows vigorously in even waterlogged soil, which is perfect for my area.

Thank you for the information on Vinca Minor that it does well in SUN OR Shade! My mom has this plant in the shade and I wanted to borrow some for a sunny spot to replace the grass there, and woohoo, I will thanks to you!

Can you mix multiple groundcovers in one area if planted apart and then eventually let them run together?

I'm looking for good ground cover over my septic tank drain field. I've been reading conflicting information about the perennial peanut. Some sites say that it might prevent proper evaporation because of how thick it grows, others say it's ideal for the drain field because of its shallow roots.I'm also considering powderpuff mimosa and the Blue Daze evolvulus. I'm in central Florida, at the southern point of zone 9A. My drain field lines sit about 3 feet deep and the domes rise about 15 inches. Could you give me any orientation about these three and the best to chose for the drain field?

With ground covers like these, if they are planted between other perennials in a bed, will they choke out the other plants? Or will the other plants be able to still grow up through them each spring?

1. Burgundy Glow - Bugleweed - Ajuga reptans , 2. Creeping Jenny, Lysimachia nummularia: “Moneywort” , 3. Periwinkle plant (Vinca minor) ...I live in zone 7 (US-VA) and Vinca minor grows easily here, in dry & moist areas. VERY hearty, once established, with attractive blooms.
