Clearance costumes make great gifts for small kiddos who are into dress up. I too agree I bought almost my entire Christmas gift list in October. Do you have any frugal ideas for Christmas shopping for your large family. I bet lots of folks would be interested in that for future video ideas. Do you do a gift rule or a certain amount for every kiddo etc. My husband and I are not doing gifts for each other this year due to the economy and honestly, we have everything we need :).

Absolutely!! Costumes for little ones and dress up are such a great gift idea! As for our family, good idea for a video! I tend to shop year around and they get some books, puzzles or small other things, and then some Lego sets as their big gifts from us / Santa. I don't currently have a set dollar amount for our kids - but I try to shop as frugally year round as I can, watching for all the deals!

I know, right?!?! And I feel like once October hits, the rest of the year just flies by! It will be time for November sales before we know it...and November sales might be my favorite of the year. Just saying! 😉

Whilst we really don’t get your types of sales here in the UK, I still enjoy watching these sorts of vlogs to see what happens elsewhere in the world (maybe I’m just nosey - ha!) October really is a month for me to try and low-spend whilst I empty my freezer somewhat, because as we get towards Christmas our supermarkets sell half-price meat and heavily-discounted Winter veg (carrots, potatoes, sprouts, parsnips - the types of veg we serve with our traditional Christmas dinner) and it’s great to buy and freeze. I was still eating such veg last year as we got towards Easter - and they do the same thing then, so if you had the freezer space you could eat pretty cheap virtually half the year! I try and buy only when things are on sale / heavily discounted - the result of years of stocking up means I can do this without impacting on my meal planning. Lots of people in the UK still meal plan and THEN go shopping, which I consider to be a far more expensive way of doing things.

I shop the sales first and then menu plan because it's such a simple but effective way to save! 🙌 And I am aiming to make October a low spend month as well so I can get ready for the sales of November - which are my favorite grocery sale months of the year! 👏 Thanks for watching from across the ocean!

I have noticed more individually wrapped “unconventional” Halloween/Trick-Or-Treat items in stores lately, especially bulk stores. They work well all year long for portion control in my opinion. For example our family loves many of the bold chips in a mixed box but not necessarily the flaming hot varieties so we save those to put in the bin for Trick-Or-Treat handouts. 😊 LOL pretty much anything individually wrapped that’s still in-date and not a “winner” around here gets the same fate. 😂 Anything left at the end of the night goes to donations and/or snack time for the homeschool group. 🎉

Super frugal tip: I have my kids pick stuff out of their trick or treat haul to use for decorating gingerbread houses near Christmas. That way I only need to buy a few things to fill in.

Pumpkin sales to make make pumpkin purée for the freezers but I did a little too well last year so I need none this year. ⁠@@joyfullythrivingI just went through my bread flour, all purpose flour and sugar to see what I have used so far. I have about 30 lb of flour left from the 140 lbs I bought last year. The sugar I have less of a handle on but I buy to fill my 2 containers which is 12 bags so I got a deal for $1.49 which is my stock up price. I am almost out of bread flour which I think I need 100 lbs for a year. I normally only buy 50 lb at a time but I think I am going to go for 100 lbs this time when I go. 🤞🏻

Last year, my Kroger gave away all remaining pumpkins on Nov 1st and 2nd. Even pie pumpkins. No limit. No guarantee, but it might be worth swinging by to see if you can get lucky.

Wow! That's good to know. A couple years ago, okay many years ago, I got pie pumpkins for 5 cents a pound at Walmart on clearance. I've always hoped for a deal like that again...but I will have to keep an eye on Kroger this year. Thanks for the tip!
