If you like battles, like, a LOT of battles, UNOVA is the place to start. Constantly hitting level cap from all the trainers, rival battles, team plasma, N, battles in the city, battles in your house, battles in travel routes, battles battles battles.

I started playing the game about a week ago and I already cleared all the zones and farm all the gym rebattles with typhlosion/blastoise wipes. Hoenn is where I started and I definitely min maxed through the other zones by making a bunch of good EV pokemon at correct level caps for other the other zones... By that experience I can definitely say that Sinnoh was the most annoying, bunch of backtracking and extra HMs to handle. Unova was the hardest as the e4 and N fights were the most difficult story battles in the game. If you are about to make competitive teams and such in PokeMMO, honestly, I wouldnt say it really matters where you start as you really do want to unlock all zones and all the content anyway.

Sinnoh does have easy access to bidoof/bibarel who’s probably the best HM user. It’s less useful if you have ocarinas and doesn’t make up for how long it takes to get 4 badges but I definitely used him a lot when I started new regions.

Unova is good for starting because u can make most money from there . Also there are many trainers to grind against to lvl up before e4.

Unova is simply too good for end game content, you get your leppas from there and ev training is done mostly in unova But for casuals id recommend kanto and it also has ez money making Good video pat

Correction: Kanto is not the only place to catch a pokemon in the tyranitar evolution line. Pupitar is at route 15 in unova grass rare encounter.

About the bulbasaur comment, the first 2 gyms are rock and water which are weak to grass and then electric which is neutral and by the time you reach erika and koga you will have pokemons other than bulbasaur anyway, in its the best starter to start with as beating brock and misty with charmander is so damn hard and beating surge with squirtle is not easy as well. Erika and koga come so later in the game that having those 4x weakness is borderline irrelevant unless you are only training you starter and nothing else in which case you deserve to get domed by the AI.

I used to think bulbasaur was the strongest, and still think he is in the cartridge games, But its no longer the case in PokeMMO with all of the adjustments to AI and pokemon that trainers have. The argument of "it wont matter because youll have other pokemon" isnt fair IMO when talking about the starters strength and its ability to get thru the gyms. You could make tht argument about literally any of them and i think its void. I've done well over 20 Bulbasaur runs thru ought my PokeMMO Career in kanto and he USED to be the strongest, he is no longer. The first 2 gyms in kanto are the easiest by far IMO, theres less room for error and more room to brute force as opposed to mid-late game its MUCH harder to brute force it or hope for any rng elements. Hope you understand my position a bit better now.

I just started less than a week ago and I already have a 5x31 Dratini (Adamant and with the Hidden Ability - Marvel Scale) so I can confirm than Kanto has the best money making spots in the game. However, I did unlock a few story lines in Unova in order to start breeding immediately. The Dratini may not be the best use of my resources early in the game but it is one of my favorite pokemon so I had to reward myself for all the hard work first before starting to invest in pokemon with more utility early in the game. Luckily, I was able to sell off some stuff to breed a 3x31 Krookodile (Adamant with Moxie) while having half a million to spare. I definitely recommend Kanto for those who want to start playing off of the game market in early game.

Honestly the only reason I go back to Sinnoh is for the sheer number of rich trainers there. if I’m running low on cash and waiting for gym reruns I run through Sinnoh since there seem to be a ton of trainers that give at least $5000 (w/amulet coin). PI Carlos on Route 214 gives me $9000 when I’m using an amulet coin and I think he might be the richest trainer in the game. The gyms in Sinnoh are so annoying to rebattle though that I end up only doing the first 3 to save time

Yeah bulbasaur is almost useless in Kanto I chose him but the battles against your rival are really hard because you can’t get a water type before being deep into the game and bulbasaur is really weak so I had to make my own team and not use him

Ye people always talk about how good bulbasaur is in fire red, but in PokeMMO he just falls off SO hard after the first 2 gyms, there's just so many flying types and 4x grass resists running around.

I tried the traditional let my started solo the game strat and because of the lvl cap it was a nightmare early with charmander! Squirtle may be the easiest fir Kanto

youd have to either A. start in hoenn, pick your starter and then make ur way to slateport city to travel to unova or B. start in unova, get thru the story until castelia city to travel to hoenn, pick ur starter and then talk to ur mom to send u back to ur previous region. OR you could get a friend to trade u torchic or try to buy one early game in unova with a couple thousand pokeyen.

as much as i love sinnoh, ev training for sp def is really hard here. i do not recommend post game sp def ev training in sinnoh. also, yeah, didn't know pickup doesn't work here until now. thanks pat. question: in other regions, does ur pickup pokemon has to be at the lead of the party? or you can just put multiple zigzagoons in your team?

Nice info but you have some things completely screwed up. Bulbasaur is the easiest starter WITHOUT question in Kanto. Because you get to breeze through early game so fast. First two gyms are a joke as bulbasaur and the third gyms is an electric gym which you have resistance to. Only 4th gym MAY require you to switch to a different pokemon, which would most likely be a vulpix or any other fire pokemon and from then on, it is only sensible that you will need different pokemons than you starter anyway.
