What are the differences between Copic Ciao, Original & Sketch Markers?

I've never heard of Ciao before, may be a good choice for me since i'm on a fixed low income. I only have a few Sketch markers but I love the brush tip. Never tried the Classic yet. Great colors Id love to get more.

Thank you! Copics can be so confusing and I never knew the true difference. I also didn't know that there were so many colors! Wow. I don't think how many times you can refill it really matters; the ink refill will cover the same amount of paper no matter the market. You just have to refill the Ciao more often! are the nibs the same as far as brush goes on the Ciao and the Sketch marker? I am asking for reference of being able to shade and color as in, do they shade and color the same or the brushes are way different so you get a different look? I am SO NEW to shading/coloring. Thanks!

Ciaos look cuter for me. Not only they are quite cheap, they are also unique-looking unlike the Sketch and Classic which look like typical alcohol markers in the current market. I have a little ciao collection but I had to buy a sketch because one of the colour I want is not part of the ciao :'(

I love the way the copic markers blend, but i'm VERY disappointed with how impermanent they are. Some colors don't even last a year. They are not light fast and lose their color with exposure to oxygen. are there pigment based markers? do you know of any markers that are more archival?

I've always used ohuhu markers, they work the same way as copics but for so much cheaper, the range of colours and pigments is amazing too

@@mrpeanutbutter-party9231 It is helpful. Alcohol based markers have a tendency of not being very light fast because, well, they're alcohol. So if you like a more archival medium then using a different marker would be better. Try water based or paint pens. Notablely Tombow dual brush pens or Posca Paint pens.

Well most alcohol markets aren't lightfast so i recommend getting an organizer for your work , also to prevent oxigen pigment degradation u can put a layer of sealant over your piece once you're done. I recommend a matte finish

I have a comment slash question to ask... So if the copic sketch is 3 xs the amount pf money as the ciao .. Because it is supposed to hold more ink, how come you get basically the same amount of refills from a various ink cartridge in each marker? You said you can refill the sketch 12 times and you can refill the ciao about 14 times right ? It had me curious lol

As Far as I know there are about 200 Colours in the Ohuhu range and they are all available in the brush tip option now. There is the 120 big set, Then the 48 colour Pastel set and then the 36 colour Skin Tone set so it adds up to about 200 in total. You can buy the smaller sets of 24, 60 or 80 colours too but I'm not sure if all those smaller sets also come in the brush tip variety you would have to check. I have seen all these on Amazon.

Blanks don't have any ink so you can fill it with any color you want and even mix them to create different colors
