Hi Sandhya, your segment has been always informative and it is good to see that The Print has taken the initiative of starting this scientific journalism. It is a breather amidst the noisy opinionated debates that goes around in some other media channels. I am just wondering why this announcement regarding COVID 19 vaccine by a Russian university is not getting coverage? Is it because it has not been verified and confirmed by independent parties yet ? Or is there more to it?

Had the vaccination efforts continued for the earlier strains of SARS 2003 ( 8000 deaths) and MERS 2012 Saudi Arabia ( 800 deaths) this 2019 Covid 2 would not have created this sort of casualties..

I don't think people knew of this strain, because the novel Corona is NEW. Whether or not they continued the effort, the vaccine wouldn't have worked for the new strain.

Very informative video, as always. Kindly sit a bit away from the camera and also sit a little bit far from the wall behind you so that the background is not in focus.

What is a "common cold," and why is it called a "cold?" Is a cold an actual thing, or just what happens when something else does something?

It's quite clear, everyone including the Print was wrong in projecting the gravity of COVID-19 pandemic in India until June 2020. Sandhya, can you please give us your best educated guess about this pandemic progression in India until December 2020, including number of cases, fatalities, possibilities of repurposed medicines and offcourse vaccines.

Just like how S. Korea's mostly succesful handling of COVID-19 can be attributed to the revamp in public healthcare system post the 2015 MERS outbreak, Kerala's handling of COVID-19 can be partially attributed to the 2018 Nipah virus outbreak. Apart from Health Minister KK Shailaja Teacher and CM Pinarayi Vijayan's commendable leadership, it was also due to the presence of really strong public healthcare system developed over the years that helped Kerala achieve what it did.

you don't need a vaccine or plasma bank for that matter.....what you really need is *oxygen and positive preassure ventilation*
