Very nice explanation about types of lilies. I'm from India and from Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) with a climate change to extremes (Summers 47 Degree Celsius to 0 Degree in winters and heavy rains in Rainy Season). What type of lilies are best for me and can I leave them (bulbs) in pots once the blooms have gone and plant becomes yellow.

mickmaloney1956, what really (and only! ) works is pure, 100% organic, cold pressed neem oil. I have used this recipe from Gary Pilarchik, The rusted Garden. The recipe works on any chewing insect. It saved all of my lilies! You'd just have to be consistent ( I start spraying the area where lilies are growing, as soon as the snow melts. Then all lilies (and other plants).
