My parents had someone fill in the gaps in their wood floors with wood filler. It lasted about a year and then it all popped out. I was looking at epoxy and wondering if that was a better option for adhesion?

bought a home from 1762 with gorgeous original floors but in some cases they have large gaps in between (as much as 1/4" at worst spots) -- which of the products above would be most effective?

Same here, we have houses from 1890, 1920, 1922, 1950s and 1960s with hardwood and pinewood tongue and groove flooring and a lot of gaps between the tongue and groove from sanding, shifting and/or drying. I hope we get some good advice on the best way to go with huge gaps.

What if your floor is already polished? What can be done to fill gaps?

What would you suggest for Brazilian Teak? The colors vary so much that it’s hard to find what will work well.

TimberMate Teak or LePage Teak filler

If there's a sizable hole (1" x 1/4") in a stained flooring, is wood filler or wood putty suggested?

Thank you for this!! I installed reclaimed red oak, and I have a fair amount of gaps. They aren't visible unless you are looking close, but of course I notice them. 😑

When using the fexible caulk the first time it is after the floor is finished. For a refinish can you put a water based wood floor finish over the caulk that is still in place?
@greenpointewoodfloorsupply16334 жыл бұрын
Yes usually after the floor is finished. On a refinish you could re-caulk

Thank you for the video. Would any of the trowel applied wood filler products be suitable for a floor that is already finished and polished? My floor was sand and polished a few years ago but the gaps were never filled and the floor allows so much draught in. I have dried some areas with a no more gaps sealant tube and it takes FORVER. I was hoping a water based product might apply and clean up easy?
@susansullivan74063 жыл бұрын
This is my question too. I have the woodwise pre- finish but it isn't suitable for the whole floor. I'm looking for a water-based trowel fill product for already finished floors.

In the end, I installed under floor insulation. Which also blocked airflow passing through the gaps.

Wood dust from sanding the floor plus a can of 'Sanding Sealer' (found at any of the big box stores) mixed together tends to work much better than glue...

I’m about to sand and stain my parkay floors for a 4th time and I want to change the stain from dark cherry(currently) to gray (like the laminate floor color). I have several chips small holes that I need to fill. Can I use the grey cement filler that is used for outside cement blocks cracks for these holes given that the color grey will match?
