This isn't a tier list of the "strongest classes" it's a tier list of the most "desired classes". Therefore the popularity of the classes is a factor to consider. A few people are missing that point.

Shadow priests are not an overplayed class compared to a rogue or a fury warrior, because of the fact that they are support classes NOT pure damage dealers such as a warlock or a hunter. Most wanted spec did not mean it will become the most played spec in the TBC Classic, because you have to like playing that spec as well. MetaGoblin even mentioned in his video at 10:00 as one of the least played specs, maybe not as rare as a boomkin, but they are still WANTED. You can almost guarantee your slot in a raid behind the shamans as you will be needed to regenerate a high amount of mana to your party, especially on a long fight like M'uru. On the other hand, there is going to be LOT rogues and fury warriors without a guild, or on waiting lists as there will be too many competitions for the warglaives. This is more the kind of reality that we should expect from TBC Classic.

And when you mentioned that we already have a guild, this is only for classic wow. Classic tbc will be another story as we won't need 40 men to raid any longer, so guilds will most likely get divided with less active members than they currently have.

I’ve been play private tbc, practically since tbc was over with. Here’s what I’ve seen as classes needed most. Shamans. Period. Every group in a 25 man wants one. Totems, and bloodlust. 2 elementals, 2 resto 1 enhance. An ele adds 101 sp, 3%hit/critical to spell which is massive, since early on spellhit gems aren’t in the game. And hero/lust ofc. Windfury is a must for your melee group. Now classes I’m tbc are very different from heroics and 25 man content. Holy pally, must in 25, but suck in heroics. Port warrior, can be good in heroics, depending on skill level and group comp, but must as a maintank. Druids are a Must as resto in 25s. 2 min. More battle Rez the better. Warlocks/hunters/mages are solid all around. They bring lots to heroics with cc and even more so for 25s with being ranged, so easier to avoid shit, plus raid buffs, cookies, mage tank (gruuls lair) and misdirections. You’ll also want 1 survival hunter for your melee group. In all fairness I’ve seen every class at the top of each meter. Tbc allows you to really min max your class if you put the time and resources into it. I’ve seen alliance ret pallies destroy the meters in 25 content, as well as boomkins. They put in work with gear and consumables.

Big Boss Currently playing on endless, and netherwing might be launching a fresh one. As for holy pallys, absolutely play one. They’re great in Kara and further. You can do heroics, it’s just you have no aoe, hots, shields. If your group is lazy it’s gonna be rough. Some end bosses I heroics put out way too much aoe dmg for you to keep up with just holy /flash light

Meta min/max raid setup: Grp1: Prot Paladin, Mage, Survival Hunter, Affliction Warlock and Restoration Shaman. Grp2: Prot Warrior, Ret Paladin, 2x Beastmastery Hunters and Enhancement Shaman. Grp3: Feral Druid (third tank), Arms Warrior, 2x Beastmastery Hunters and Enhancement Shaman. Grp4: Balance Druid, 3x Demo/Destro Warlocks and Elemental Shaman. Grp5: Shadow Priest, Holy Paladin, /x Holy Priests and Resto Shaman. You could drop 2 BM hunters and get another mage and a rogue into the raid, but that would reduce your overall raid dps.

This is an appropriate list if you plan on pugging you Za and/or plan on staying in t4. As soon as you understand the need for specific buffs each an every class brings up, this list is out the window. Also, feel like it's pretty dumb to pit a specific class like holy paly against "shamans". As a raid leader, I would much rather have my boomkin in my group 4 rather than getting another shaman as, like you said, can swap one of my ele/resto sham for an extra bloodlust.

The fact that you distinguish between feral and bear druids means you don't know a lot about druids. In BC they are the same spec. So effectively you can switch from 100% dps class to 100% tank class from boss to boss, which prot warris and palas can't. Which imho should make feral tier A, just for the versatility.

Consider who this video is for: the TBC private server veteran who knows the game inside out or the more modern player of wow. The spec for a bear and a cat aren’t identical and separating them is completely understandable.

Boomkin is very strong in TBC, I'd take them over another Mage or caster. Competitive DPS, but they also bring the crit aura and the innervate for healers. This isn't like Vanilla when their DPS was subpar 75% of a mage. In TBC they are like 95% DPS of a Mage. Correction: Boomkin scales the best with gear for casters due to their talents/spells, so late-patch they actually end up like 110% of other caster DPS.

Although fury warriors lack single target DPS until later on in TBC, you will deal disgusting damage during cleave pulls in normal/heroic dungeons, especially if you have windfury. Throw a Blinkstrike in there early on and you're competing with mages and warlocks on cleave pulls. Your group will watch in awe as you become a literal meat grinder. Honestly, if you enjoy the vanilla fury warrior, TBC will be even more fun for you ~ leader of the pack is now 5% crit chance, and pally buffs / windfury is available to both factions. It's a lot of fun with stacked buffs.

Waste of a raid spot if blizzard go with challenging tuning. It is 100% arms if you want to play dps warrior. You are now the bitch support swapping yourself around to command people and battle shout the hunter pets. I would never bring a fury or rogue into my roster. Maybe one rogue with pvp gloves for solo interrupting with deadly throw for gruul, and maybe 2 for evasion tanking RoS in BT. But you can just bring a pvp alt for that. No need to have main rogues at all.

Why boomkin should be on tier D? Aside from the aura they give, boomkin also gives 3% hit on their imp FF. And 3% is Huge which means u can swap items which has hit rating and go for more offensive stats. They aint topping the dps meteres like spriest. They are there for imp FF innervate and rebirth.

All I really want is a classic-esque version of retail, I want all the classes and races available, with the deliberate and methodical playstyle of classic/tbc. As it stands, auto-attacks don't matter, current retail is just ability mash gameplay, there's no chess-like ability use. I want mobs to feel like actual threats, 1v3 should be impossible in pve unless you're a tank with some regen, or have good pet management. The Lore allows for all the races to have access to all the classes, but there's still so much restriction. Something like Human Shamans, or Pandaren Paladins are in the Lore, but are arrbitrarily excluded. Here's to hoping I'll one day be able to play a holy panda man with a huge hammer.

Probably not, in classic I main a shadow priest and can’t wait for TBC to main a shadow priest again, just like I did all those years ago. And way back then a shadow priest wasn’t popular to play. Now with that being said, every priest that I know from playing classic has 0 interest in playing a shadow priest in TBC. Either they are changing classes all together (mainly shamen) or staying holy/disc. While this is only about 20-30 people, it gives a good indication. But all my caster guildies can’t wait for me to get some shadow priest love and then become their mana battery. In general shadow priests just aren’t appealing to many people, just like every other class outside of warlock and priest isn’t appealing to me.

Lol, boomkin as D.... yeah, right. Back in the day boomkins were one of the best dps classes next to warlock and elem shaman. Full haste geared boomkin was a mini gun that dealt massive damage + providing mana for healers. During Black Temple/Sunwell Plateau stage each raid had at least 2 boomkins simply for the sake of dps/mana for healers.

Ret Paladin should be a B or C, because they apply a 3% crit debuff on the boss, holy and prot can pick up the talent but in a raid setting neither one of those 2 specs want that talent.

Warlocks are class S. They provide quality of life goodies like summoning raid members and lock cookies. Not to mention they do ridiculous dps with one button shadowbolts. Warriors DO scale ridiculously high though. By the end of TBC once you are in BiS BT/SWP gear, you are class S dps by a long shot.

Warlocks, hunters, and glaive rogues still do more dps than warriors in SWP gear, even if the warrior has glaives he wont out dmg SWP geared Hunters and Warlocks. The only boss fight a warrior will do more damage than hunters and warlocks is Kil'jaeden (a rogue will still out dmg a warrior on this fight), because you literally just stand there and hit the boss while the ranged dps take care of the orbs and the reflections(mostly), plus they cover more ground while stacking and spreading so they have more downtime than melee. Other than this specific boss, a BM hunter (and warlock) should always do more damage. They will out dps warlocks on Twins (but not hunters), but thats just because warlocks have threat problems on this fight, and they can cleave to pad the meter.

I think you are wrong about mages ... I vaguely remember reading the mage forums during WoTLK and hearing QQ about mages being "Sunwelled" again - referring to not getting raid spots in that patch due to shit DPS. So mages seemed to get shittier DPS as the expansion progressed, not better as you suggest.

Yeah, I played mage back in TBC and dps was pretty average except for AoE. Destruction warlock or beast mastery hunter are the specs to go if you want high dps.

You should made two lists. One for PvE and one for PvP because telling X class with Y spec is good/bad and only cover 1 of the 2 aspects is not the way to do it imho. Should be common knowledge by now as we are in 2020, that in early game: caster heaven, late game: melee heaven, pvp especially. Since how gear scaled between them.

Yeah it really depends on the fight and individual skill. Watching Costin from Serious Gaming progress through Tempest Keep and the top DPS (locks and hunters) pull ~1400 sustained dps. Compare that to the low dps of a ret paladin being around ~1200 and you see that the difference between top and bottom dps isn't nearly as severe as it is in classic. That coupled with the fact that the TBC bosses will undoubtably be easier than private server's overtuned bosses means that I imagine all classes and specs will be viable for casual guilds that clear all content, if not seen in top speed running guilds.

Hold on, you put Ret Paladin in D tier because you only want one in raids, but then put Shadow Priest in S tier when you also only want one, maybe 2, in raids? Fury Warrior and Rogue is completely D(ead) tier until they get gear in T6, they don’t bring any debuffs or buffs the raid needs- unlike Ret, Arms, Feral (who also serves as third tank), Balance, Affliction and Survival. Mage is also not great, one is always guaranteed raid spot because of int buff and conjoured food/drink but unless you severely lack AoE damage you don’t take more than 1 mage.

I find it funny how even Enhancement Shaman gets S tier and it's only cuz of Bloodlust and Windfury Totem. Their dps was so bad in TBC I never saw one do over 1.4k dps it's sad how weak they were with like 3 whole buttons to press. I wanted to be Enhance Shaman so bad but it was just miserable so I went Elemental with Offspec Resto never had an issue getting into a raid then.

Hybrids still get a bad rap because they aren't minmaxed for 'the slot'. Splitting cats and bears is a bit unfair, as the differences can be marginal unless they completely cornhole themselves as one or the other, and over-focusing on cat spec is just shooting yourself in the foot, much like staying Ret paladin after you hit max level.

Cant see shadow priest being a wanted class. Not like shaman is anyway. Id put it in B / C tier. My personal list would be shaman on top. Then healers . Then dps classes. Hunter , lock then other dps classes like mage , shadow priest , warrior near the bottom , but still wanted. I also think locks are going to be played alot as well due to how powerfull they are in pvp, so I can see there being alot of warlock mains as much as hunters specially if we get dual spec.

You got 2 things wrong ... While shadows are decent they aren't really S tier most raids only bring a single one for the Misery debuff since mana is a non issue regardless of them beeing there or not this is especially true post T5 content. And second rDruid is pretty bad in PvE. Compared to rShaman and hPriest they bring literally nothing to the table exept hots on the tank + healing aura buff for the tank aswell which is actually quite negligetable tho. A dedicated hPaladin will do the same job a druid does just better in every regard. Most tryhards guilds will probably not even have a single rDruid in their raids.

Pretty sure hunters are going to be few in number in BC, there simply isn't that many hunters in classic atm. I'd put them solidly in tier A, shadow priests should probably be tier A as well given the number of active priests playing as well.

Lol every priest that I know in classic 20-30 of them, aren’t going shadow. They are staying holy/disc or re rolling (mainly to shaman). I main a shadow priest in classic in prep to main one again in TBC. Most priests have zero interest in playing as shadow. There will be an increase in shadow priests im sure, but not by much.

No wonders for rogue pve in tbc as they are destinated to get those legendary warglaives. They are pure melee dps without other benefit. So you have to be the elite of elites amongst other rogues and pray to have the only slot available for you in the roster.

Paladins for the horde, and shaman alliance. Druids alliance and horde as if u check any realm statistics they are the least played class in classic on any realm. If u level a druid and know how to tank or heal u going to raid but especially if u are a healer. Most played class is warrior what ever u do do not level a warrior as their are a million people playing warriors and mages.

Honestly...it may seem dumb. And I'm sure you're attached to it. But if you want a higher sub percentage I would replace that 5 note jingle at the start with something else. Idk if u ever found an answer but my research has suggested questing and open world solo pve fury leveling is a little better than arms, but if you're doing dungeons or group pve arms will be better for the group b'c you can buff your group (even raid) with 4% damage. Its because of the raid buff that you'd likely want to respec arms at 70, but toward the end of the expansion when armor penetration gear becomes more available and raids become more melee-friendly that fury warriors and rogues can start to compete with hunters for dps, so more will be welcome in raiding. Personally I'll be returning to deep prot and leveling 60-70 just like I did 1-60 b'c I'm a masochist who loves to main tank.

I dont want to be mean here but people really shouldnt absorb the 'information' that is presented in this video. Mages are literal gods until tier6, be it in dungeons, raids or even pvp. Their damage might be worse than Lock/Hunter most of the time, but once they pick up their tier 5 set they gain a MASSIVE spike in damage to the point where they will rule the meters. Rogues are complete shit until they get glaives basically and are overplayed as fuck despite the fact rogue is probably the least looked-for class, same goes for fury warriors. Lock and Hunter can only be in S tier, absolute best dps classes in every single tier and extremely powerful in pvp aswell. They might be 'overplayed' but you can literally never have too many warlocks in a raid (much like the fury warrior in classic) and you will have no problem at all running 3+ Hunters. Lastly, Moonkin and Ret paladin are ranked way too low, those specs are very useful. Yes, you only need one of each in a raid, but usually those specs are played by literal dumb people and hence finding an average-iq Moonkin is like finding the needle in a haystack.

You want one Arms warrior in a raid. Chances are that raid already has an arms warrior.

The fact that Warrior Rogue Mage is like 70% of the player base at the moment in Classic, and most of them will probably continue playing their character into TBC means, it will be ridiculuously difficult to get a raidspot playing those classes. Most guilds only have 1 - 2 rogues in the raid in TBC, and 1 fury + 1 arms warrior +1 prot warrior, compared to now with tons of warriors and rogues! I playing rogue myself and even getting groups for dungeons is a huge pain unless you have guildmates / friends who are tanks or healers.
