I think the first Gladiator movie was a revenge story with politics happening in the background, Kempy - I think multiple viewings (which it deserves, because it's amazing) let us pay attention to the bigger questions it's asking, because we already know what's going to happen in the storyline. I reckon you'll like the 2nd more after a 2nd viewing.

Tbh don’t think Thompson is going anywhere near the Roosters, be surprised if they finish anywhere near the top 8 at the end of the 2025 season and then Thompson becomes free agent (officially November 1st 2025). Not to mention the doggies have been in talks and building a rapport with Thompson (through Gus Gould) I don’t see Leo throwing in a contract with the doggies and a relationship with Gus Gould and Ciro for the chance to play at a deteriorating Roosters club. Plus Roosters will have to pay big money for Robson, plus they’ve just paid for Sam Walkers contract. The Roosters haven’t beaten the top 2 clubs for the last five years (Storm and Panthers) that just tells you everything you need to know about the standards the top NRL teams are in and the Roosters. Yes they have guns on their team but guns (individually) don’t win premierships! Panthers have proven this the last 4 years in a row!

We all know (even Rorters fans know) that they’ve been rorting the NRL since he’s been in the Roosters office but the Panthers have single handedly made the roosters ‘buy everything we can’ system inefficient when it comes to winning premierships! The Rorters won’t win another competition for at least another 20 years! They haven’t even been able to beat the Storm or the Panthers in a single game, in 5 years lol

I think you might be giving Rome more credit than it deserves, and it deserves a lot. However in terms of not amalgamating cultures or even just obliterating cultures through conquest, they weren’t the first and they would of known to some extent of persia or even Alexander the Great and I’m sure there’s others I don’t know of. The first gladiator movie was about restoring the Republic, run by the Senate, as opposed to a dictator…obviously modern day USA would make a movie that promotes that as they are a republic. Also nearly everything said about Roman Empire being about multiculturalism and allowing people to live as they want is wrong, if a people group didn’t Romanise it was forced to through war (see the Boudicca Revolt for example). Maybe study history before you talk about it

The reason I absolutely love these guys, Denan in particular, the way he applies his mind to things is incredible. Reaching the heights of sport alone is psychological discipline beyond belief, especially when (no offence DK) you aren't a gifted 6'4" backflipping winger! He has consistently worked his ass off, and now he reads, he learns, he has learnt business, he's an entrepreneur, and fascinated by history. That comes from humility and respect. We could learn a lot from this man.
