But Gladion kinda does have a starter to connect to. He owns an Umbreon in the anime and Eevee is treated as a starter on the same level as Pikachu. So I truly believe that Gladion most likely has an Eevee as a “starter”, but Type Null was his first “official” Pokémon.

@@nikopogo1 Official art has been my main source of evidence, even the most forgotten ones XD I think that no one can depict a character better than its character designer ;) Sometimes I even used sometimes in-game material in order to further prove/disprove something. Using Pokèmon Masters (it is directed by ken sugimori after all) and Kotobukuya's Officially Licensed Figures as a backup argument to, sometimes, suggesting that the remaked characters seems to share different starters with the original (like Ruby and Omega Ruby)

It absolutely does not matter if Bianca's starter conflicts with Hugh's, their adventures take place in different games within the same region, and their adventures take place two years apart. They could have the same starter and it wouldn't matter. Also, even if those three made sense and didn't conflict, the two player characters from BW and B2W2 have to get starters too, which would make all of that conflict anyways.

Well, this is my theory, but if you have observed in almost every depiction, media or artwork for Red and Blue (Rival) except the manga, Red always had a Bulbasaur while Blue was always seen with Charmander in their Classic Timeline Artwork, where they were still using their clothes and designs seen in Gen 1 games. Classic Timeline is basically the stories that happened in the Gen 1 and 2 games (RBGY -> GSC) However, in the Mega Timeline, Red was always seen or depicted with Charmander, while Blue (Rival) is always shown with Squirtle, such as Pokemon Origins, Pokemon Generations Episode 3, and Pokemon Masters. The Mega timeline refers to games or medias where Mega Evolution is shown to occur, such as Gen 6 games onwards, and both Red and Blue are typically seen in their Gen 3/4 FireRed and LeafGreen/HeartGold and SoulSilver clothes and outfits. So basically, Classic Timeline: Red - Bulbasaur Blue (Rival) - Charmander Mega Timeline: Red - Charmander Blue (Rival) - Squirtle In the manga though, it is established that it is one consistent timeline throughout the arcs, so Red with Bulbasaur in the Gen 1 RGBY arc is the same Red that appeared in the Gen 3 FRLG arc with Venusaur. Same can be said for Blue, and the rest of the dexholders characters. And in Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu/Eevee remakes, although it can be said that these games take place in the Mega Timeline as Mega Evolution is present, Red and Blue (as well as Green, the girl) is shown in their Classic Timeline artwork, which explains why Red has a Venusaur while Blue has a Charizard when you battle them.

While Masters is a valid source, I feel it should also be noted that not every Pokémon is something that’s been with the trainer for so long. Misty for example has gotten a new Starmie to raise as she left her other one back in Cerulean as stated in her SP Story. I don’t remember where I saw it, but I remember seeing an official piece of Pokemon media for Black and White, and one of the things on it was Cheren with a Servine and Bianca with a Pignite, so I think it’s safe to say that they chose Snivy and Tepig as their starters respectively.

When it comes to black and white and the 2nd versions, there is a time gap. This makes it good enough to have double starters. Also there are different main characters for them as well. Hilda and Hilbert in 1 and Nate and Rosa in the 2nd.

Its clear that Gladion doesn't get litten, in the storyline of sun and moon her mother, Lusamine says, my daughter who stole my Cosmog which is probably Lilie, and my son who took my Type: Null, also Hau does pick Rowlet, while the protagonist pick Litten. Because if you look at the team rainbow rocket wallpaper the protagonist Sun or whatever his name has an Incineroar at his side. And popplio of course was taken by kukui if you can see by the battle in the elite four

Brendan and Ruby are not the same character, and old Brendan is confirmed to be an alternate universe from remake Brendan. Old Brendan is most likely the rival rather than May, as May is Norman's daughter in the anime and not Birch's, meaning for that to happen in the games May would have to be the canonical player character. If May uses Torchic, then Brendan is Mudkip. It's very likely remake Brendan chose a Treecko instead seeing as it's an alternate universe according to the Delta chapter.

I heavily agree with this though if brendan is the player character in the original id say he has torchic at least in r/s while in emerald maybe treecko. In oras it seems very straightforward to me brendans new starter is treecko and mays starter depends on if she is the player character or not meaning in the ruby universe she has a torchic while in the sapphire universe she has a mudkip. I genuinely think mays new canon starter should be mudkip if for no other reason to promote mega swampert as a new mega at the time

For Silver, the answer is likely Totodile. In Masters, his Sync Pair is likely Ho-Oh given the recent trailer, but we see that Ethan has a Sync Pair with Cyndaquil, Lyra has Chikorita and Kris has Feraligatr. The likely main character out of those three is Ethan and Ethan as Cyndaquil, therefore Silver has Totodile.

Blue/Green/Gary Who's to say all the MC/Rivals didn't eventually breed and trade for the other starters?? It'd explain why he switches back and forth and eventually in SGCHGSS he doesn't use any of them while Red uses all of them. Wally... I always preferred the Remakes giving him Gallade to fit his personal story rather than lock him into Gardevoir in the original RSE versions. Ruby/Brandon: Since he's depicted with a Swampert while Wally has not been, Ruby/Brandon gets Mudkip while Wally gets Treeko. Sapphire/May: This leaves her with Torchic, which is more iconic due to Anime Main Female Character Status, but it just fits. Wally is Pearl?? Then who is Dawn? Platinum? Because you also have Lucas, despite not being a 'true' rival and he feels more like Diamond. Gladion... Maybe Eevee? He does have an Umbreon!! Thoughts??

In the manga Red and Blue/Green trade their starters for a while during the Sevii Islands arc.

A Theory has it that Red had machoke and haunter and traded them for the Charizard (machamp for blue) Blastoise (to green/female kanto girl making her have a gengar to accompany her clefairy and wigglytuff) And he had as a starter Bulbasaur so who knows (Manga actually had them by accident trading mons so maybe Red became really good friends with Charizard and Blastoise and became really close so there’s also that)

@@alfonsopayan09 This is actually supported by the Let's Go games when you fight each of them.When you fight Red, he has a Venasaur, and a Machamp. When you fight Blue, he still has a Charizard. Green/Leaf has a Blastoise. Though, she already has a Gengar. However when you fight Blue in Johto, he has a Machamp instead of Charizard. I am not entirely how Red ended up getting her Blastoise.

Like the video but just wanna point out a few things. His original name is Green in Japan since Red and Green where the first video games not Red and Blue. He is named Blue here in the west since, well, the first games were Red and Blue. Second, the Origin anime is based on the games. However the, the Hall of Fame team that Red enters with is the team Satoshi Tajiri used in his first playthrough. So it is based on the games but the reason Green has Squirtle is because Satoshi picked Charmander and they based that series of of that.

For me i considered the trio starters of the characters (based on how i see fit, manga reference, anime reference and Games, may contain spoilers): Red: Charmender Blue:Squirtle Green: Bulbasaur (the female character in Leafgreen, in manga of Red,Green,Blue she is called Green but if i remember correctly she is also called Leaf (thus Leaf Green) in the Firered and Leafgreen manga in english versions of those manga) Gold/Ethan: Cyndaquil Silver: Totodile Crystal/Kris(want her to be Lyra at the same time tbh, but at least in the manga she is thhe same character): Chikorita Ruby/Brendan: Treecko Sapphire/May: Torchic Diamond/Lucas:Turtwig Pearl/Barry:Chimchar (fits its character as well in my opinion) Platinum/Dawn: Piplup Gen 5 -7 dont have a clear opinion yet. Mehmet Öztürk wow, mine is very similar! but I changed some things, to allow the female character to be the protagonist, every second generation: Red as protagonist: bulbasaur (it has red eyes) Green/Blue/Gary as Rival: Charmander (it can have green or blue eyes) The girl character as an ally: squirtle Kris as protagonist: Cyndaquil (with blue fire to match her hair, maybe?) I'd pick their starters mostly based on how i think a starter would suit a protagonist/rival or not actually, while trying to change a bit who gets what type of starter. Gen 1 would be : - female protagonist : Charmander (as i always play as the female here and Charizard is my favourite Pokemon, so i'm not leaving it to anyone else) - the rival then gets Squirtle (considering i always pick Charmander, he always had Blastoise, except fot the Yellow and Let's go games) - which leaves Bulbasaur to the male protagonist Gen 2 : - Cyndaquil for Ethan - Totodile for Silver - and Chikorita for Kris/Lyra who i consider to be the same character (after all, Red and Brendan both changed hair colour between their 1st game and their remakes and are still considered to be the same characters) Gen 3 : I actually have no idea there. Gen 4 : - i'd give Piplup to Dawn - Turtwig to Barry - and then Chimchar to Lucas Gen 5 : - Tepig to Hilbert - Oshawott to Cheren - Snivy to Bianca - Snivy to Rosa - Tepig to Hugh - Oshawott to Nate Gen 6 : - Chespin to Calem - Fennekin to Serena Gen 7 : - Popplio to Elio (it was my first pick for him before knowing the evolutions but i like that for once the male protagonist would get the feminine looking final stage starter) - Litten to Hau - Rowlet to Selene (i think it's the one who suits her the most with her SM outfit) Gen 8 : - Scorbunny to Victor - Grookey to Hop - Sobble to Gloria

@@ewyna8409 We are selecting pretty much nearly the same way, good list, for Cheren and Bianca i couldn't remember their pick in the manga (and the games, i didnt played pokemon BW) but i did remember for Hilbert which was Tepig, i can see it fits him somewhat but Oshawott to Cheren and Snivy to Bianca fits just so well. For Red yeah, for Brendan...well we actually never knew if it was his hair or not, we just assumed it unless you read the manga back then (it is shown there it is not his hair but a cap/beanie) or you played ORAS we could not have known it or tell really well just with the character display in a battle sequence before Brendan sends out his pokemon. Kris and Lyra me too i considered them the same person(i didnt know Kris existed before, i only knew Lyra which i thought they added a female progrotagonist in the remakes, since the gameboy games Gold/Silver didnt added a female playable character (i thought they added beginning from gen 3) but i learned later on that on Pokemon Crystal they added one. But i considered them the same character as well (In the Manga they are the same character) For gen 7, you are right, if we go by outfit your list on that fits prefectly As for the rest we have similarities . Your list is solid :)

@@Fantallana I would actually want to see that type of rival/ally matchup, Zinnia as a Rival would be awesome and the starter you said suits her as well. Kris and Lyra are the same person in the Manga but seems like they are different characters in the games. Its true Elekid fits Ethan well. I never thought of looking in the perspective of female protagonist, if since gen 1 the female protagonist were focused as much as the the male counterpart being cool (note i'm saying that if it was since gen 1, after Pokemon Crystal we got that), the starters we know today would maybe have shifted a bit. If i remember correctly, Kris/Lyra in the manga battled (like in the reality, not stat wise of pokemon) very competitively using the surroundings of the battle that is taken (and if i remember correctly she is taking into consideration the pokedex entries of pokemons, like Yellow (also a female progonist in the manga) and maybe like the others too, but i think Yellow and Kris used it a lot more than the others, especially Yellow, (spoiler a bit here: she didnt have a pokedex in the beginning and filled,what she saw/learned, in a note book) Your list is great :)

@@anardisaserrano-nieves7854 Piplup just fits the sinnoh asthetic so well. I mean Sinnoh is the coldest and snowiest region and piplup as a emperor penguin just embodies the cold haha. Also Dawn and Barry are already asociated with piplup through the anime/pokemon masters and Lucas's platinum outfit has a lot of blue and that warm vintage feeling which also fits piplup :)

I think Venusaur was going to be the original mascot over Charizard, since Red had Venusaur. Since Charizard became the mascot and the obvious color coordination (Red/Orange) Red was known for using Charizard

Personally, I split OG character from remake characters. For example, Classic Ruby is always seen with a Swampert, but Omega Ruby is only ever seen with a Sceptile, so I'd argue that the two are different characters.

Something that might be worth considering, is that May's parents in the anime are her parents in the game, unless you're playing as Brendan. So, if you play as May, having the 'canon' parents, and choose her true starter, Torchic, Brendan will have Mudkip as a result. Also, Jimmy, the gold protag has a true starter as Cyndaquil based off the anime, which further lends to Totodile as Silver's if you choose him. If you go off of the remakes, then Jimmy is more 'canon' as the protag than Lyra, as she exists and has a Marill following her all the time just as she did in the anime where she also had a Chikorita.

In my opinion, in RSE and ORAS, May should always use Torchic, both her counterparts on the manga and in the anime uses Torchic, and so, if you want to play as her, use Torchic and Brendan gets Mumu the Swampert, and if you want to play as Brendan, choose Treecko so that May gets her Torchic

In regards to to Silver's introduction to Pokemon Masters, which seems eminent, I'd wager we will see him with Celebi; coinciding with the Ilix Forest Event in HG/SS. He makes the most sense, imo, in regards to introducing the Time Travel Pokemon. Also, each of the Gen 2 Staters are covered in Masters, as Ethan has Cyndaquil, Kris has Totodile, and Lyra has Chikorita; which I rather like. But yea. Totodile, and ultimately Feraligatr, for sure. Also I'd guess Calem may get a Sygna Suit variant with a starter, or, Shauna, Tierno, and Trevor may gain the Kalos Staters in Masters. I'd guess Delphox, Chestnaught, and Greninja respectively.

1:25 another thing you should consider about green is that he had a scyther as long if not longer then charmander since he took one with him to jhoto when he trained under chuck years before the manga starts and in the XY arc when Green appears before the protagonists of that arc he remarks that his scizor has been though thousands of battles over several years to clarify that scizor wouldn't be beaten in a battle of endurance against X and the pinser that he eventually catches.

2:33 like before with green we do see silver with a snesal and murkrow years before he ever gets todidile. in fact he may have had snesal for even longer since if memory serves giovanni recognizes snesal when it brushes silvers soot covered face with silvers spare handkerchief and its based on snesals memory's that silver travels to kanto during the FRLG arc in order to track down his origins which leads him to veridian city.

8:15 wrong. first off to be technical her full name is actually Yvonne Gabena with her being 1 of 4 protagonists whose full name we are aware of with the others being Green oak, Sapphire birch, and Platina berlitz. second she does have a starter class pokemon. its a frokie who helped her with her sky trainer practice by using his frubbles as cushions and he later evolves into greninja and post story material reveals that he has the potential to battle bond which was something he couldn't due during the climax of the battle since he only evolved into a greninja during that event and during the climax he was separated from Yvonne and focused on aiding trevor fighting off against one of the team flare scientists.

What would you say is Silvers starter if his partner in Masters winds up being his Crobat? You know, to embody his character arc through the game mechanics, seeing as his Golbat evolved after he became a decent person rather than an arrogant jerk. And now Masters has revealed that his partner in Ho-Oh of all things! That really caught me off-guard, since he never comes CLOSE to Ho-Oh in any media, as far as I'm aware. Unless he was involved with Ho-oh in the Adventures manga, but I haven't read that since the early issues of the Yellow chapter.
